Some of us outside America have always appreciated him and admired his statesmanship. As an 8 year-old, I woke myself up to watch his resignation live at 2.00am London time. A vice presidential letter he sent to a campaign worker during the 1960 Presidential election adorns my study wall, which has three shelves of books about or by him. He was and remains _my_ President and under the new Supreme Court rules, his asking the CIA to turn off the FBI investigation into Watergate wouldn't have been prosecutable!

How you know a country is in trouble is when a leader breaks his commitment to his country and revisionist claim him a hero at the expense of Freedom of the Press... People who do this are either ignorant of American history, they might be a foreign agent, they could possibly be defending their leader who has committed similar acts... In conclusion, Nixon's resignation is a testament that when the guardrails are in effect, a leader cannot defile the Executive branch of government. Clearly fifty years later, the moral code of a country has taken on an ethical rot...

Many thanks to Nicon foundation for the series of late Pres. Nixon. Everybody has negative image of him due to water gate. But, this interview clearly clean his position by itself. Without outrager action he did after resignation, he and this institution did well to clear up his name and his legacy. He was a great, intelligent and people president.

@superbear617

Nixon had some character flaws (a large dose of paranoia being one), which ultimately led to the cover-up, and his demise. If he had told the truth from Day 1, the break-in may well have blown over as a mindless "dirty trick". The many expletives in the tapes offered an unvarnished view of his character as well (and let's not forget his red baiting of Helen Douglas).

RU-vid and shorts like this have taught me Nixon is an incredibly complex, intelligent, driven and motivated man. But he let his emotions, anxiety, fear and paranoia get the better of him. He didn't need Watergate to win, when everyone was forecasting he'd win by a landslide, but he did it anyway. That's irrational thinking. But even with Watergate and other huge blemishes like starting the war on drugs, Vietnam/Cambodia, but he still comes out as an above average president. It's crazy to think Nixon, a Republican president, founded the EPA. You probably couldn't find a Republican today that would have the drive and independent thinking to challenge the party to strengthen environmental law and protections. Things like that show he's a different man, driven by himself, he's a leader and he's not controlled by anyone. Admirable.

This is the great statesman we need. He is such a wonderful, intellectual person with foresight. Too bad the history (aka, DC swamp) did treat him so harshly and unjustifiably. He was a noble person who cared the nation more than his own pride. In the end, we all saw how he stood firm again. We salut you, Mr. President!
