From the very first time I heard India sing and listening to the words, she was my soulmate. I was at the grammy awards show where she lost all 7 nominations & I found her after the show as she was leaving to tell her she should have won them all. My heart broke for her but I'm so happy she stayed true to herself and her music. She is truly a queen
Almond Brown I prefer "Fallin" over "Video". I am not that much into neo soul unless the song is that damn good. Besides, Alicia Keys bridged classical, R&B, rap, and pop. I like all those genres. However I respect India Arie for her spiritually infused songs from albums #4 and #5.
She looks just like her mother. Her mother is just as talented. Her name is Joyce , she is a hell of a very creative clothes designer and she has a woulder voice as well. it would be great if India featured her mother on one of her songs..
+COREY BONILLA Coming from a creature afraid to show its face, hiding behind a device being a bully. I bet you are the typical low self-esteem bullied kid who uses the internet to feel empowered.
I will never forget the day when I first heard her debut song "Video" when I was in my junior year of high school. It caught my attention because of the lyrics, her honey-coated melodic voice, and of course the acoustics. From that day forward, I became a fan of Ms. India. Her music has a positive message which has the ability to heal.
I remember when I first heard that song, I was like WHO IS THAT SINGING...!! the voice... What's her name? and when I found out who, the name is what I fell in love with first India Arie and as for when I saw her, I was like she is perfect as a woman should be, she is authentic, she shows roots, her presence commands respect, but most of all for me was her identity, immediately you knew straight up who she is, no peeling away the layers, you just knew....

Even though my comment is 4 years later I'm just coming across this video January 28th 2021 this is a beautiful lady with a wonderful voice and I love the naturalness not looking at a bunch of tired out weaves fake implants from the chest to the bottom. Just wonderful natural melanated beauty 😇👌🏼👸🏽💯🥇🍾💎😎
I met her backstage during her Acoustic Soul tour here in St. Louis and my life was never the same after that...her talent is olympic and she was the sweetest person.
she might not have won the Grammy....but she made her mark and impression on the black woman and the world with her songs and music..... the Grammys been fix from them time
THANK YOU INDIA I'M MORE AWARE OF WHO I AM. BEING A BLACK WOMEN ISN'T ALWAYS EASY IN AMERICA BUT THANK YOU. MY HEART GOES OUT TO YOU. KEEP BEING A VOICE OF HOPE.....CONSTANCE
The truth is: there are no earthly rewards for the beauty which is given to us by artists like India. When you think about humanity as a whole, we aren't worth the dirt breathe our feet, therefore sub par music/art will always be our highest praise.
Sooooo proud of my Sistas, light, brown, blk. Just want to give us all a shot out for a change!! And shout out to the white women that stood behind her, to help bring her music to the forefront!!!❤❤❤❤
My younger sister from another mother. I had to hear your story, it's our story. Love you India to the Moon and back. Keep doing your thing . The hosts of our ancestors got your back 100%.
Never in her life shall she have ever felt bad about not winning a Grammy. The music industry is a beast and will chew you up and spit you out with all does fake images. India Is a beautiful soul that reaches your inter strength. Keep on singing girl friend. I LOVE YOUR MUSIC.
I've always loved her spirit and music....and have ALWAYS seen her as MORE than the average girl in a video. thank you India...we thank God for you....in the name of Jesus I pray your continued success.
From the moment I heard her 1st single "Video" I was drawn in... I begain to study her... To come to find out that her & my mother share the same born dae, which mine follows... If u know anything about Libra's we are Earthy, Freespirit, Soical Aware, people... So Indi fits the mold of a Tru Libra!!! PS... I got the chance to meet her in Norfolk as her tour breezed through, Robin Thicke was her opening act... ✊✌️
I was a junior in highschool when India came CRASHING into my life. And I just remember hearing Video and thinking "I have been waiting to hear a song like this my whole life"and she had a MONSTER impact on who I was. Her, Erykah,Jill and Donnie. That SNUB with the grammy's, I will never forget it.
My wife and I was piss when she was up for all the awards and did not win they didn't ready for her message she wasn't their kind of black woman the resented her lyrics she is brilliant love u india
Voyage To India is my most favorite, favorite, favorite India album. One of my favorite albums PERIOD. Still have the cd, have it in every playlist. Still soothes my soul
There are two "celebrities" that I've always wanted to meet, Iyanla Vanzant & India Arie. Ive met Iyanla now i cannot wait to meet India. Her soul radiates the love of God. Its so powerful & peaceful at the same time.
God is good! I watched her as the world recognized that she was a star first hand. She's truly what you see. Nothing fake just down to earth and humble.
India Arie is one of my favorite musical artist. Her music is spirtiual, soulful, passionate, uplifting and encouraging. She is beautiful, true to herself, her music and artistry despite the pressures of the music industry. This was an insightful documentary on her life and career.
India Arie should do another movie and do Nina Simone. I really believe she would "kill it" That is a role she should play. Even if she has to fund it or do a go fund me for it! She Is The Artist for that role!!!-M
Man my life changed when you came into music. This is such an incredible documentary. We are blessed to be able to be healed by your song and ministry. Your soul Is dope. I always loved when you did kid shows and I showed it to my students. This woman 😍 😍 been a fan since “ video “ 🙌🏾🙌🏾🤩🤩👑🥰😘💯
God called her to do this.. Her story is awesome, I love it.. I have always admired her strength and courage NOT to want to fit in to societies norms. She exudes strength, and her own unique style, something that we don't see in many of today's artist... "I am not my hair " and "Brown skin " are my favorite songs by her..
Thank U for being who u r India, I Love ur music, I Love ur Spirit, and ur Energy, but most of all Thank U for the Love u show ur (Brown Skin) Brothers. One of my favorite India Arie songs is (Brown skin). Keep Being Beautiful, Queen India
I heard india and recorded her on the video.i played her none stop ! Her music helped me in such dark times and helped me too be strong. I have introduced her to so many of my friends and even took her tape when I went to Australian.I went on a day trip the driver played the cassette.and loved it. You are a fantastic artist and so enlightened for such a young woman. Please come to manchester UK I would love to see you live😚 thanks india for sharing yourself with us!! x
A breathe of fresh air. So mega talented. mommy is amazing in her own light shining. We thank you India for choosing your mom and dad, to place you on this planet at this time in this journey called life. We so need message music, substance given by a voice that explains it very clearly. Ashe' Sistah
When I first saw her , I crushed hard ❤ gorgeous voice, gorgeous skin, gorgeous natural hair... I said 2OW what a special and unique woman!!!! And her mother is unique and beautiful too
Thank you so much for this documentary of Indie.arie. She is such a beautiful soul inside and out. May Jehovah continue to bless her throughout her endeavors.
Listening to India Arie's music is like going to church! !!!! Her music is so clean and uplifting to the Spirit. I am so very proud of her for making this commitment to quality and integrity. So much of popular music is polluted and harmful to the Spirit. I love the fact that I can listen to all her music with all age groups without censorship. That is not an easy task to navigate and still be popular and relevant. I bow to her integrity! Much respect my sister!!!!!!!!! I love you and I thank YOU!!!! God bless you!!!!!!!
