That’s one thing ill give lof they had some really cool designs as in the characters stories were good and cool armor but the overall story wasn’t and someone should make a slider 😂
@joshuakim5240
@joshuakim5240 4 месяца назад
@@kkkk2916 What's really interesting is that every most enemy and character design in some way shows up in the trailers, cutscenes, or stigmas in lore-accurate situations. Some neat examples are how there are Sovereign Protectors bodyguarding Bramis in his bridge stigma and Blackfeather Rangers accompanying Yorke in his Hollow Crow stigma (these aren't enemies, but they do exist in lore with their armor sets). It's neat seeing Abiding Defenders in the game's trailer protecting the Orius Church's leader, and them having the same role with defending Judge Cleric's important facilities. The main issue with a lot of LoTF's lore is that there are a bunch of missing links and chunks not actually available in-game to find, and instead are in things like the art book and promo material. 80% of Derlva's story for example is confined to an interview that Smoughtown had with one of the writers with no way of figuring out any of that 80% otherwise.

At any point Orius could’ve just told her “hey you’re doing this wrong”, perhaps Adyr has a point..
@user-tq6tf5wn1x
@user-tq6tf5wn1x 4 месяца назад
Nope. It could be that orius is imaginary or doesn't care at all, (the players fate in the radiance ending speaks against it but maybe orius wants them to do what they want to and by him '' killing'' adyr the player gets orius interest who decides to free the player from getting tortured by the lamp or because he could do the same to orius) but adyr still is a really evil thing who deserved getting eaten by the lamp.
@sercravenmohead3631
@sercravenmohead3631 4 месяца назад
@@user-tq6tf5wn1x I’m talking about how the judge cleric kept the rune of Adyr and perpetuated his eventual return. If Orius was a conscious being he should’ve intervened to prevent the needless slaughter, but in fact even if the Hallowed Sentinels turned away from Orius they can still cast his miracles? It would seem as if like you said doesn’t care or doesn’t have a conscious, he would then place his hope in a Dark Crusader who could canonically side with Adyr or the Putrid Mother.
@user-tq6tf5wn1x
@user-tq6tf5wn1x 4 месяца назад
@@sercravenmohead3631 OK then I misunderstood the your original comment. As for the doesn't care/know part maybe orius only noticed the players existence by him devouring adyr. Due to him being such a powerful being his death may have been noticed by orius who then decided to eliminate the danger. In the other two endings the player doesn't commit such an act and therefore maybe isn't noticed
@Sometuy11A
@Sometuy11A 4 месяца назад
@@user-tq6tf5wn1x Orius did know of the player; he just couldn't interfere in the events of the game until Adyr was defeated because the latter seemingly stifled him by eclipsing the sun. This is further supported by the ending text which says that the lampbearer was carrying out his will. Orius exists and is absolutely a conscious entity; the soundtrack that plays when he destroys the deathless one is called 'wrath of Orius' which alludes to him loathing his 'heresy-tainted' champion. Now, him not interfering with the events of the game is understandable because Adyr stopped him, but he could have, at any point in the past prior to Adyr's rise, told Judge Cleric to chill and stop what she's doing or take the rune of Adyr by force. Orius just doesn't care unless his complete domination is threatened. Also, can this thing about him freeing the player from the lamp die already? There are at least two instances of people willingly and easily parting with their umbral lamps (Isaac and Hannelore); he's not doing the player any favor by annihilating them. One would be extremely naive to think Orius wouldn't have done the same thing as Adyr (Perhaps with a veneer of gold) had humans rebelled against him like they did Adyr.
@user-tq6tf5wn1x
@user-tq6tf5wn1x 4 месяца назад
@@Sometuy11A the being freed was just a theory I had as it always seemed like it was a bad thing since it makes you immortal and slowly eats you. As for the other I just said what I think is the deal with orius with him not really caring unless in danger

I love how so many of the character stories in LOTF could be great tragic books. From Bramis and the royal family, to Pieta and Judge Cleric, a deeper glimpse into the pinwheel before the fall would have been great to witness. Gotta hand it to Adyr for his AAA+ levels of petiness. Dude waited and plotted and planned and in the end (maybe) gets to revel in Cleric's corruption with glee. Thank you for keeping up these lorevids. The way you tell stories makes them that much more fun to listen to.

Seriously this game characters and in universe world history have some really amazing lore and some ppl think its very lacking but i beg to differ. Another great lore vid lorebearian. I've thoroughly enjoyed listening to it as well as the one covering the royal family of bramis too. One thing i've noticed from watching both lore vids is that all of the atrocities witnessed and chaos and destruction that came upon mournsted all could've been prevented if harkyn or judge cleric would've just destroyed ardyr rune. But as usual mankind weakness to temptation from the devil's whisper always wins over eventually and screw everything up for the world.

Thank you for new great video! I was glad to hear a tiny bit about Latimer as well) also the story pushed me to few questions: 1. If she sacrificed her arm to beacon, did it grow back? Because she has 2 everywhere in the game, or I am just unattentive 😅 2. Church of Orius growing from Cleric looks like a platform to establish new kingdom of mankind, free of Adyr's will, but has nothing to do with Orius himself. It's just an idea, but since Orius beheaded himself and is dead, does that me that Judge just used his name for own purposes? Also, since she was highly skilled in inferno magic, what if all of those "divine" skills where created by her, based on infernal knowledge she possesed? I know it's kind of conspiracy, but will be pretty cool of all the divine church being fake religion, based on infernal practises. For good purposes, but still manipulation. Thanks again, waiting for next videos!

Here are a few new insights I discovered with further research into the lore! While the intro cinematic makes it look like it's portraying the end of the war against Adyr, the presence of the hand of God indicates otherwise, as the rune of the Adyr item description states that the hand formed long after God's exile. "Once, some believed the colossal hand of Adyr to be the god's actual hand, the rest of his body buried beneath, but in reality, the formation manifested long after Adyr's exile, a symbol of his festering rage, powerful enough to cross dimensions." Perhaps even thousands of years after Adyr's defeat, if Kaslo is to be believed. "Thousands of years ago, Adyr did come to the battlefield. And that is where we defeated him." What I think is actually happening in the intro cinematic is the invasion of Mourstead to establish the beacons, which kind of goes along with the creative director's statements. "The Kingdom of Mournstead was a very successful, industrious place with a mine. But what you see there, the 'Oldest Disneyland' was not created by the Hallowed Sentinels [Servants of the Judge Clerics]." "Those people, those knights [Hallowed Sentinels], invaded a land; they took everything." The Rhogar we see in the intro possibly hint that the kingdom of mournstead was one of the last bastions of Adyr worship in Axiom and, as such, was reinforced by Adyr's Rhogar forces. Another thing that I find interesting, and that probably explains Ady's absolute bitterness and pettiness, is that he himself seems to suffer from the effects of exposure to the energies of his prison; he describes in his fights that after his exile, ages of torment followed. "You have no idea what it is to suffer such monstrous betrayal or to endure the ages of torment that follow." With half of his face already rotten off and his arm showing mutations similar to those experienced by the sundered monarch, it's likely the ages of torment he referred to were exposure to the realm's energies. "Once, all who exhibited any sign of the Rhogar corruption were purged with brutal efficiency in a desperate attempt to control its spread, but in their spiraling madness, the Hallowed Sentinels have come to regard their rotting flesh and tainted blood merely as a test of devotion."

My idea is, assuming the writers didn't drop it there, that she holds her standart with the severed hand, needing much less dexterity to wield (she just swings it sideways and thrusts with it). @@KnightfallVadder Not exactly; Orius and his church will purge everything deemed heretical. So expect Pieta, Winterberry and her kin, Byron, and a plenty of others to get completely wiped off simply because of their connections to something Orius dislikes. The same is true of religions that do not worship Orius. Adyr was blinded by his rage and desire for vengeance, which is understandable after being exiled from his home for thousands of years and the denizens of Mournstead worshipping Judge Cleric, his jailor. If he was intent on destroying everything, why did he stop with Mournstead? He does go too far when enraged, and King Bramis' fate was a tragedy, but I still think he's the best option overall, assuming he actually calms down after venting his spleen off. At least based on Iselle's memory, the world under Adyr was decent. There won't be any peace either in the Radiance ending; the mother's lull will continue to grow, and the lampbearer directly fed Adyr to the putrid mother so it dooms everything in the long term. I should also add that King Bramis wasn't exactly targeted by Adyr; he merely fell victim to the arbitrary nature of Rhogar affliction. It's no secret, though, that Adyr felt it was a happy accident, as he felt kings were usurping a title that was rightfully his, combined with the sheer bitterness he felt at being betrayed as well as the king's loyalty to the hallowed sentinels.
@dshearwf
@dshearwf 5 месяцев назад
@@KnightfallVadder I mean, the Umbral ending how it is presented in game, is the absolute worst, destroying ALL gods and Axiom/Reality itself. I mean, at least under Adyr and Orius there is Axiom with humans living there. Look at young Judge Cleric and how her life was described: It was pretty normal human life, just under a satanic rulership of sorts? I mean it arguably was better than under the corrupted Hallowed Sentinel reign, razing everything in fire and pain. I feel like the whole Umbral ending would have worked better if that was split in two: Support the Putrid Mother to literally end everything or walk the path to halt and seal the influence for good, saving the world as a whole, given at large Umbral and the Putrid Mother are the real threat. Because, think about it: Pieta/Elianne is the ultimate tool of destruction just waiting to emerge to bring about the end in our stead anyways, if we follow the radiant/inferno ending. Adyr and Orious themselves are literally powerless against the Mother Putrid and Pieta/Elianne the ticking timebomb. We "dismantle" her in the Umbral Ending, but only to take her place and hasten the end of the world.
