By now, many of our followers have heard of Chunky and her boy Junior whom Brad our volunteer photographer captured and allowed us to follow them in the wild with his images and videos.
Once Junior reached dispersion age, he decided to head off across town to find his own path.
In 2023 he was spotted at Lismore Cemetery with a very bad bite (most likely from a dog).
Our rescuers headed out and brought Junior to our Northern Rivers Koala Hospital, where Junior underwent surgery and, 10 weeks later Junior was holding his weight and walking on his injured leg again. The bite was in an awkward place in behind his knee and took time to heal - but no better place to heal than our Koala Care Centre!
We are delighted to say that Junior was recently released and headed off home again - we hope he stays out of trouble and away from dogs!!
You might like to follow our regular blogs and social media updates to hear more about the patients who come to our Koala Hospital and Care Centre. As always, without support we can't do the work and any donation, no matter how big or small will help us to save koalas in the Northern Rivers region.
Thank you for watching!
