Dan Crews damn that’s right lol, I remember it was close at the end but don’t can’t remember the final moments. Why end an ironman match in a draw with no payoff? It’s not like they were going for the title at that point
There are some other wrestlers WWE could focus on making into new stars or competitors like Chad Gable who is familiarly similar to Kurt Angle and they should’ve kept Chad Gable and Jason Jordan together as American Alpha because they were excellent together in the ring some fans forget fhaf American Alpha pinned Randy Orton to capture the Smackdown Tag Team Champions
think I'm cute I got gold medals I've got the moves That makes 'em all tap out The Angle Slam The Ankle Lock Marty Jannetty Still can't walk I'm just a sexy Kurt (sexy Kurt) I'll make your ankle hurt (ankle hurt) I'm just a sexy Kurt (sexy Kurt) I'll make your ankle hurt (ankle hurt) Woo! That's right Shawn, eat your heart out Hands off the merchandise Woooooooooo!
I think it's better than hbk taker, the in ring story of angle always being ahead of hbk, making hbk having to come up with all types of tactics and risks to get ahead is great.
What happens when you take the greatest in ring performer of the 90s and the finest amateur wrestler turned pro of the 00s together in the same ring at Wrestlemania? You not only get the best match of the night but one of the greatest of all time and that's exactly what we got. Shawn Michaels and Kurt Angle gave us a true wrestling classic that cemented both of them as the finest workers of their respective eras. 15 years later and still get chills watching it
@@BEMSmarky Hart has the most memorable and innovative marches that paved the way for Shawn. He showed in Wembley in 1992 that 'small' guys focused on wrestling could Main Event a major PPV. Even his WM8 match was a underrated get changer in terms of the type of WrestleMania matches we get today.
One of the wrestling or sports events that I'm most proud to have witnessed in person is this match live at the show. Crowd was on another level for the last 2-3 minutes when Angle had HBK in the ankle lock.
@@gametimex3969 Angle vs HBK is the closest we're gonna get to it, which is the underlying reason this match happened in the first place. In Bret's book he mentioned having a vivid dream about wrestling Kurt. Much like Sting vs 'Taker, that's a match that can only exist in our fantasies.
@@ElmoKnowsWhereYouLive5150 I heard the plan was supposed to be Eddie beating Batista for the World title before WrestleMania 22 (before Eddie's death and Batista's injury)
I just watched the Kurt Angle interview on Steve Austins broken skull sessions. Kurt Angle did say that Michaels was a bit of a prick about the match. You can tell he has extreme respect for Michaels. So he didn't say anything too disparaging. But, he did say Michaels was trying to act like a real badass for a Shoot(prematch). But, on the flip side he also said Michaels was fine with losing from the Ankle lock. Putting Angle over at Mania. Either way i have extreme respect for both men. They're two of the greatest in ring talents of ALL TIME. Love your videos!! Keep them Coming!
Thing I like about Shawn was he was never afraid to stand up to anyone even if he knew his ass would get beat. He took his craft very seriously and I believe that part where he said in his book “I just want to tear the house down.”
I've watched and read a lot of interviews about this match. I think Kurt Angle and Shawn Michaels really do like and respect each other, but, they are also both extremely competitive athletes. They know only one person gets the gold medal and they are willing to fight for it. I think that was Shawn's way of telling Kurt that he is just as good and willing to prove it.
Oh boy, this rivalry had some great ass matches alright. It's incredible, they weren't even on the same brand for their build to Wrestlemania, yet they made it work perfectly
Think its because A: it was WM and B: it was the first time anyone had seen it so no one knew if it could live up to the hype or not. Just like how many people still consider the WM 25 match between Taker and HBK as the best ever even though you could argue WM 26 was better from a story line POV.
As a long time fan, 2005 was probably my personal favorite year, both in WWE and NA pro wrestling. In WWE I enjoyed most of the big storylines from this one with HBK v Angle, to Kane chasing Edge and Lita, to the Bischoff-Cena feud, to everything else. That was the roster and era I am fost fond of, and to top it all of, my fav wrestling game: DAY OF RECKONING 2 is also based on 2005 WWE.
I was there. In person. It was the most exciting moment of my life. To see these two giants go at each other live. I'll never forget the feeling. Wrestling just isn't the same anymore.
@@charliebowen5071 as a child who always wanted to see wrestling live and in person but was too poor to afford such a luxury. To finally spend the money and go myself to see some of my favorite wrestlers I've watched growing up. Yes. It was the most exciting moment of my life.
Wrestlemania Greatest Both Dream Matches Wrestlemania 18 The Rock vs Hulk Hogan and HBK VS Kurt Angle wrestlemania 21 Steals the Show . Awesome Ppv WM Ruthless Agression Era in wrestlemania 19-24
@@tinotica i would say his Vengeance rematch against Shawn during that year were even better than their encounter at WM.... Shawn's reversal of angle slam into ddt was amazing imo
Sting vs Undertaker will still be the biggest dream match to never happen that could've. Still blows my mind that at stings only wrestlemania he battled HHH. Vince completely botched stings time with the WWE.
Also, when I saw the Mania 21 match live, I marked out for the Short Arm Scissors. I always pop for these rare submissions like the Indian Deathlock Triple H did at Mania 19.
@@GibDozer1 hell nah what brock vs angle was better rock vs austin was also there not the match that that had triple h hit the pedigree and for like a minute he didnt go for the pin when he did he still got the three count anyway
Thank you again man. I had no idea about this encounter until this video. What a legendary match. And what a legendary CALL by JR and King. Especially when he locked that ankle lock on Michaels at the end; King: "it's like something out of a scary movie!" regarding Kurt rising from the dead to lock Michaels in the final ankle lock. What a true meeting of legends. There was nobody chanting "You suck" after this one.
I was there at WrestleMania 21 for that match and without no shadow of a doubt Kurt Angle vs Shawn Michaels stole the show that night forget the main event. Angle and Michaels match was totally epic. seeing that match live at the Staples center is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that I will never ever forget for the rest of my life thank you Kurt thank you Shawn you guys gave one hell of a show that night at WM 21.👍👍
Only watched this match recently as it had a special WWE network episodes. It did not disappoint. Never really been a fan of HBK in or out of the ring but would never take away from his ability to perform when it came down to the big matches. Angle is something else though and is someone who for some reason never gets brought up enough in regards to the GOATS (in my opinion anyway) This really was a wrestling clinic of masterclass storytelling and is definitely up there for greatest matches ever Great upload as always WB
@@jasonmerced718 Don't assume, I personally only know what's going on thx to Brian Zane and his dad Jim Cornette. Wrestling these days is just unwatchable.
A great match between 2 of the greatest! I remember Bret Hart saying he really wish he got a chance to work with Kurt Angle. I think Bret and Kurt would have made classic matches too!
I read a Kurt Angle interview once. Cant remember the source or if Im accurate in my recollection. He said he and HBK spent their time planning out the match by just casually talking about life and wrestling. They only rehearsed one move so they'd be comfortable performing it. Any one else know if this story is true?
2 year old comment but, any idea which one move they did rehearse? I have a feeling it’s the low blow reversal of the suplex off the apron to the back splash on the table?
@@FuntClaps101 No, they said it was the Angle Slam against the ring post outside of the ring. Most probably because of the added risk based on HBK's very well-documented back problems.
These 2 had classics at Wrestlemania 21 and Vengeance 2005. The Royal Rumble 2005 was the beginning. Glad I was able to get to see both matches. THIS WAS A FANTASY FEUD.
I have a curious story about this match. Me and my school class left the following monday for a school trip to Paris on a bus (a 14 hours painfully long drive). A classmate of mine taped Wrestlemania on VHS the night before and he put it on the small tv of the bus. For most of the ppv most of the class (who couldn't give a toss about Wrestling) continued to chat and fcuk about, but then came Angle v HBK. The whole bus fell in complete silence watching the two legends battle it out, it was genuinely weird. 5/5 classic.
The old Shawn had his demons so who knows what would have happened if he hadn't changed his life by this point. It was great to see that he had matured. Hogan vs Shawn was a letdown because the right man lost due to another man's ego. Kurt vs Shawn was epic because the right man won due to the selflessness of another icon & his win was deserved. This rivalry was similar to Bret vs Owen at WM X. Thanks for providing the extra info about what Shawn said to Kurt prior to WM21. Major props to Kurt & Shawn. R.I.P. Sherri, the true queen of pro wrestling.
Lol 🤣 you think Shawn should of won because his more "body postive" then Hogan ? Why do you even watch wrestling ? Let me guess... For Daniel Bryan ... Another sjw lady gaga type.. Name someone with actual muscles that Mainevented a WWE PPV that you actually like... ...Let me guess .... Cena right ? His neckbeard approved now .... How did he get that approval though...wasn't his loss to Bryan was it... Surely not... You aren't that petty and childish...nah...not at all..
One of the rare matches that transcend's baby face and heel were you just get lost in the sheer spectacle of what's going on and whoever wins is irrelevant
It always amazed me when everyone in wrestling would say Shawn's the greatest in the ring. Then you watch him go with another guy that is just as good, a guy like Kurt, and then you realize the hbk was always held back by the other wrestlers, not that they meant too, but just weren't good enough for hbk to really do his thing. Kurt stepped up and kept stepping it up letting us see really how good hbk is. A nd damn he is all that has been said. Hes the best in ring athlete and well above even really good wrestlers. Took Kurt to show me that.
WM 14 was a solid performance too, especially considering that his back was completely messed up. The one where he lost to Austin (and retired/went into rehab)
This is still, in my opinion, the closest thing we would ever get to see a Bret Hart vs Shawn Michaels rematch, had Bret never have gotten hurt and also had reconciled with the WWE. Angle and Bret had such similar styles, when comparing their in ring psychology and physicality, and that is a dream match in it's own right. Can you just imagine? Prime Kurt Angle vs Prime Bret 'Hitman' Hart. Ankle Lock vs Sharpshooter. The Wrestling Machine vs The Excellence of Execution. The Olympic Hero vs The best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be.
You should do the Rock vs stone cold IC title feud. A lot of people forget how these 2 so called mid card guys in 97 had main event charisma before they were at the top.
Not quite my favourite, but I loved Angle right from his debut; what an awesome goof heel/natural badass. He could have been the blandest Olympic mid-carder since Mark Henry, but Kurt was a total natural of the wrestling entertainment business.
Top 5 wrestlemania matches: 1) Bret Hart vs Stone Cold WM13 2) Shawn Michaels vs Undertaker WM25 3) Bret Hart vs Owen Hart WM10 4) Macho man vs Ricky Steamboat WM3 5) Bret Hart vs Shawn Michaels WM12
Loved this feud you had Kurt angle who was in his best shape that he's ever been in. And he was putting on great matches up to that point then you had Shawn Michaels who just came back was in his 2nd run back and he never missed a beat. This was a spectacule and they had the crowd in the palm of their hands.
That was a 5 star match no question great spots and both men bumped there ass's off for eachother. A classic between 2 of the greats!! Must see match!!!
critically under viewed video and under rated feud. These guys put on, arguably, some of the absolute greatest matches to ever be seen in the WWE squared circle, and their segments had legendary moments, as it seemed like kurt was really finding his lane as a heel with comedic elements.. and 'sexy kurt' still makes me bust a gut. it all is even more impressive when you factor in who kurt was, a VERY serious athlete, in a VERY serious sport, with no silliness or 'gimmicks', so to see his full throttle commitment to these bits is hysterical and impressive. I hope someday Kurt is considered one of the greats, up there with Michaels, Hart, Styles, etc. The dude really could do it all, and did it all very well p.s. Jannetty's performances during this brief comeback were incredible given his age and how long he'd been away. I recently rewatched his match with Kurt and just felt sad Marty didn't hold it together and lost his second chance, cause I think if he had of been able to stick around he could of had a great run and really increased his value p.p.s. Ive seen a few interviews where Kurt says his greatest match was against Benoit
When they started teasing a possible Shawn Michaels vs. Kurt Angle program at Survivor Series 2004, I instantly marked out. I knew these two would put on a clinic, and all 3 matches were beyond phenomenal. They brought the best out in each other.
My favorite match from Wrestlemania 21 honestly all three of their matches from 2005 were classics in my opinion that definitely worth going back and rewatching.
To think this was originally Eddie vs HBK but gave it to Kurt. After the success Wrestlemania 22 was going to be HBK vs Eddie guerrero. That hurts badly
From the overlapping kayfabe and real life build going into the match, the match quality itself, and the drama going into the finish, I think is the most perfect all-around match in WWE history. Match by itself is the 3rd greatest behind Taker/HBK at WM25 and Bret/Austin at WM13
great outro, very well put together. You sped the vocals up to match the instrumentation and used the crowd from Angle's HOF induction in the call and response. This level of detail is why I come to your channel
I think Kurt Angle might be the most underrated wrestler from the Attitude Era. It seems that nobody ever talks about him in a GOAT focus yet Angle had the total package as a performer.
