I always thought Steve was an artificial human created by the Illagers with the purpose of being a super soldier, which is why Steve seems to have blatant superhuman attributes such as his strength, or his ability to revive after death. However, instead of being obedient like they had hoped Steve rebelled and in a last ditch effort the evokers cast a spell that randomly teleported Steve to a random point in the world, setting the stage for the beginning of Minecraft.

I would like to think that there was an army of dragons that went to war with the humans that all died. I feel that it’s weird that one dragon would be able to solo all of humanity when one normal ass human with training would be able to kill her. An Enderman army would work as well and possibly better then a dragon army since Steve would still be able to hate the dragon individually because she would be the ring leader in an invasion instead of a random soldier who somehow survived a dragon extinction.
