It's finally here! After a month+ I've finally finished the project. Script started being written on March 3rd and editing started 10th of March. And on April 25th I was finally satisfied with the outcome. Thank you for being patient, enjoy.

It’s year 2011. Overnight, the whole world has been overrun. Europe, America, China, Britain. How is it possible that no military in the world, no research team, no scientists, no organization was able to stop this outbreak? How did this happen.
Was this whole thing known about this entire time. Could it be that this whole situation could have been prevented, yet, it wasn’t taken seriously enough.

I will give NMRiH credit, the scenario is one of the few cases where the slow-moving zombies can actually become a threat, as the idea of a pandemic having already infected a large chunk of the population a while *before* they all suddenly "woke up" with no one really expecting that last part means that creating a proper response would be quite difficult and why we probably primarily get evacs to safe zones that have been able to resist or aren't as affected, such as places out in the country, presumably. I would like to see the scenario explored more, but... oh well.

@@VangleasenIII I mean... It's the closest we've got, but WWZ had to give the zombies a LOT of plot armor and it's very annoying once you notice it. People love to talk about Yonkers and how it shows military failures "realistically". but after reading it and re reading it I have to completely disagree. Todd Wainio's character is well written, but when you zombies basically walking through MLRS fire essentially unscathed yet hitting them with a bat in the head instantly kills them... *and* US forces forgot about logistics and the concept of fighting retreats when that was the entirety of the "outdated" Cold War tactics mentioned being used... Yeah, the book suffers at times and contradicts itself. It's not BAD per se, but it's not as good as i would like.

@@starkillercz14people found it offensive because you could kill a (already deceased) kid, there was multiple steam forums at the time saying that they couldn't shoot the kids, or that they have remorse on doing so, saying to the devs that they should remove it as it just looked "edgy" for the sake of being edgy. Then the developers responded saying that wanted a game that represented the true vision of a outbreak

Fun fact: the Phalanx drug is a reference to the World War Z book. In it, Phalanx is rabies medicine passed on as a placebo medicine early on in the zombie outbreak (people are unaware of the danger and believe it to be human rabies). Quite fittingly enough, the section of the book it's described in focuses on why the United States ignored the early warning signs of the outbreak

The survivors (the players) are actually smart to go hide and wait until the chaos dies down a bit. Its the hunger that forced them out of their hiding. Luckily though they always manage to find means to communicate to anyone who can rescue them lol 10/10 would survive this kind of hell

It still fascinates me that the game is running on the Source engine too, the amount of mechanics that they had to find ways to implement that their engine of choice didn't readily offer makes it nothing short of amazing that they managed to not only pull that off, but tell interesting stories on top of that.

Project Zomboid also has some interesting lore that isn't really finished yet (or rather, it is open to additions still) but it's told through various radio broadcasts and implications. Vanilla lore (unless you go to some RP server with diversion from it or so) puts you in the area of ground zero and on you are in some exclusion zone the military set up. You can turn on the TV or radio and get TV shows and broadcasts, and the broadcasts first speak of military activity, the exclusion zone being set up and the world and US is still in the dark about it on public level at least. As you play and ingame days pass the situation worsens and worsens and radio broadcasts and TV news reports mirror it until the "thing" breaks out of the zone and goes global.

Hey lad! As a NMRIH fan, you did the lore justice, but there are some things to be corrected. I spoke to Maxx, one of the developers of NMRIH and the one who kickstarted the whole game, and he told me there was something he got wrong when creating those CDC lore documents due to his limited knowledge at the time. The zombie virus is not EL and 732-ZH combined. The virus is 732-ZH, aka Kulon, but the disease it causes is EL. It's the same as COVID-19. COVID-19 is the disease and the virus that causes it is SARS-CoV-2.

Phenomenal video, I love NMRiH but I never really thought about the lore so much. It never registered that it was even there, I was too focused at the time on how technically impressive the game was (and still is) for what it does to the Source engine. Everything about this game and the development team is outright inspiring and something I believe anyone can look up to. I think the devs still have commentary/devlog videos on YT if anyone is interested. I'm probably going to rewatch those this coming week, this game really left a mark on me.

All this time, i thought that the reason the virus has spread so fast was because it was waterborn (as there's a drawing on the wall in one of the maps, mentioning that water infects people) i had no clue that all along, it was for completely different reasons. One thing I like about NMRIH lore and gameplay is that they somehow develope an acutal vaccine and air drop it for the survival out in the street. My mind was blow when I first play this game after the sks stab nerf that I pick up a weird pen that look like left 4 dead 2 adrenaline shot, I was in shock like that meme face when I found out it cure your infection. Back then videogame about zombie is either you immune or just have to find pill to extending the playtime, so I knew from right there that this game is peak.

The outbreak would've been prevented if CDC higher ups would've taken it seriously, a lesson to be learned to pay the price with fatal results. Just because the virus is dormant and harmless doesn't mean procedures and precautions have to be taken care, yet incompetent moves caused the extinction and overrun of humanity easily. A lesson so heavily the price is a species.

Honestly the content is good but the voice is so shakey and scratchy you should just rerecord and redrop the video with some better sound editing, the voice recorder filter editing used in some parts was legitimately difficult to listen too. There were also some very clear stumbling in the readings of text papers and felt pretty jaring, but all in all its not bad looking forward to more videos.

Very dissapointment that its not about no more room in hell,like the title, just virus stuff. I was questioning why heaven wasnt doing anithing about this or other stuff but now it makes sense, its just in name only.

Perhaps the virus is divine intervention. If god can use a flood I wouldn’t put it past him using a sickness.

Wow, just wow. Going through so much lore on a game surrounded in mystery and lack of in your face story is incredible. Amazing video. May I just share some advice that has to do with pronunciation, read slower. Whoever did the voiceover for the documents spoke a bit too fast and it made it harder to understand without looking at the text. Other than that, a great video, hopefully we will randomly stumble upon each other in game.
