A tribute video to Ray Velcoro (Colin Farrell) from True Detective Season 2. WARNINGS: SPOILERS, VIOLENCE, DISTURBING LANGUAGE 🌐 grzegorzgrabowi... Twitter : / grzeggrabowiec Facebook : / grzeggrabowiec
Finally, I'm releasing a Ray Velcoro video. Many folks wanted me to put this with the same music theme as in Rust Cohle vid to express the similarity of those two characters.
+Grzegorz Grabowiec FINALLY ! Thx so much mate. Ani Bezzerides next ? She was so tough and her story was so interesting. I think she deserve a tribute.
How did these videos still on youtube ? i get copyright ban everytime i try to upload a edit of myself ! How can you use this scenes ??? i really dont understand..
Avoided season 2 for about 6 years because every critic gave it a negative rating, I completed it in 2 days and in my opinion it was one of the best shows I have ever watched. I agree that the storyline was somewhat confusing but can't deny that this show was a masterpiece. Ray and Frank were the best. I do not understand the unnecessary hate, Yeah season 1 was ART but can't compare two different storylines. Both were good in their own way.
Way better than the critics gave it credit for, it was kind of convoluted but had so much good shit in there and the ending is an all time hard hitter. Deserved better reception, just had the tough act of following one of the best seasons of tv ever.
I've yet to go back and re-watch it, but I think drip-feeding it week after week made the story impossible to follow. All of the performances were exceptional, and I feel like the story wouldn't be as contrived if I went and watched it all the way through all at once
"A turn here, a turn there and it goes on for years, becomes something else. Im sorry, you know... for the man I became, for the father I was. I hope you got the strength to learn from that and I hope you got no doubts how much I loved you, son. You are better than me. If I had been stronger, I would have been more like you." This, my friend, is one of the best quotes ever!
@Sushant Bhargav he was emotionally numb from all the shit and substance use Even though it's fiction I can see he was a very emotional, empathic before...
So so good man, Ray had a ton of great dialogue and farrell’s performance was as good as it gets. That section of dialogue you quoted is some of the best I’ve ever seen.
Way way underrated, deserved better reception and as the years have gone by I think it aged well. A little convoluted which got it a lot of criticism but there were so many good moments and the ending is an all time hard hitter to watch. Also shout out Farrell, Ray was a great character and Colin turned in an incredible performance. The season really deserved better, the fact that some critics and fans made it out to be some bad season was crazy to me, it was good just had to follow one of the greatest seasons of tv ever
@@puppetmaster8551 I just finished season 3 and it was solid, but I much prefer season 2. Season 2 had it's issues, but it still had some great characters and memorable moments. Season 1 is in a league of it's own. The reaction to season 2 really hampered the third season. Season 3 is too simple for it's own good. The story is so stretched thin that it becomes stale at times. It tried too hard to emulate season 1, but ended up with a watered down version. Season 2 had a far more interesting story with that classic noir storytelling and the characters were way more interesting. I hope the showrunner will feel more confident with season 4 and try something new.
@@thefilmeffect6089 the showrunner/creator/writer is no longer involved. Hbo is supposedly gonna do a s4 but I don’t understand why at all, it’s not true defective without the guy who created wrote and ran the show and directed episodes, just give it a new name and make it it’s own show. They just trying to ride of the true detective name but it’s really not actual true detective without Nic pizzolatto
I thought the same initially, but when you view it separately from Season 1- it's actually pretty fucking good. Season 1 was 10/10. Season 2 was judged too harshly for not being Season 1, part 2. In retrospect I'd rank it 9/10, and Colin Farrell's performance should have won him an Emmy.
I watched this video again tonight after completing s2 again, 5 years or so after I watched it for the first time. Life and experiences made me realize how palpable and raw the message of this season is. "Pain is inexhaustible....It's only people that get exhausted." Ray Velcoro commands a salute (like the one he gives his son). Criminally underrated season
Interesting. I may bear that in mind, I quit the season half way through yet this is my fav video on RU-vid, literally seen it a hundred times because of how raw it is. I'll give it another try
@@dylanstandingalone Reassuring someone that they're not a bad person is something people who care about that person say because despite all their character flaws, countless mistakes and regrets, they usually are a genuinely good person who just lost their way and forgot who they really are.
Wow I just cried. That shit hit me so hard. Having a son and dealing with the demons of addiction make you feel worthless. Even after 6 years of sobriety
@@jasemkhl217 I'm actually doing really good today is my birthday is a matter of fact thank you for the well wishes I'm just struggling to find a job right now but as soon as I find one I'm good I just enrolled my son in pre-k so he starts next Thursday and I do have a wife of 5 years so I'm not a complete fuk up
I never cared much about Colin Farrell but I was so impressed with him in this, it gave me a whole new perspective on his talent. One of the best shows I've ever seen and I prefer it to S1.
@Bens channel - 'Actually, Ani Bezzerides' was the standout character from season two.... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UaxrcWskSDA.html .
I found the ending showing that he was most likely the father was a classic TD moment. When you expect the big twist, you get the realistic, heartbreaking truth... a'la the TD1s finale... and then in season two when you are fully expecting the same grim realistic truth, but instead you get to see something good happen... in short it was such a beautiful touch to contrast the utter dark reality of the rest of the ending. Season 3 needs to happen.
It was definitely a beautiful revelation, but the fact that it happened in the wake of Ray's death/self sacrifice it complete broke my heart. Brilliant television.
I’m not sure it was a beautiful ending. It means that Ray was self punishing for absolutely no reason what so ever. All his anger and nihilism was wasted on worrying about that unknown. He wasn’t certain hence his destructive behaviour… He couldn’t let it go himself, he tried to ignore it but you could tell that it was eating away at him. Everything to do with his wife and son was eating away at him. The fact his wife was literally trying to rip his son away and even using her rape as a means to do it… Fucking horrendous to find out that it all could of been resolved for Ray with a simple DNA test. I can’t imagine Ray being the man that he is would of done anything dangerous or risky throughout the story of season 2 if he had known for a fact that his son was his. He has too much respect for his son to put himself in harms way… Ray was almost certain towards the end that the boy wasn’t his and he was going to loose him forever hence why he decided to go with Frank and plan to run away with Ani.
@@traurigesland4622 I think it means that act of revenge (killing the man who raped his wife) leads down a dark path, which he has to live with everyday, and he reflects on it.
Those lines of dialogue, "If I had been stronger I'd have been more like you." Made me burst into tears man. Criminally underrated to the point I think the show being panned was some sort of conspiracy because the media was annoyed about Pizzolatto's "occult background of the underground railway system" red herring joke he made last year when he was asked what season two would be about.
Forreal this season deserved so much better from critics and a lot of audience. Ya it wasn’t an all time great like s1 but it was some quality shit with one of the hardest hitting endings ever. Ray had some truly amazing dialogue and Farrell performance is as good as it gets.
Underrated and great season love how dark, brutal and complex it was. Ray is such a deep, three dimensional superbly written anti hero and amazing character. I don't understand how people and the critics praise mediocre season like 4 with subpar writing, but dislike great very well written season like season 2 of True Detective people lack of taste is absolutely pathetic sometimes. Ray alone is better than all characters in True Detective season 4 combined.
Honestly the saddest thing -- that Ray's ex-wife doesn't realize -- is her rape changed Ray into what he is. He never wanted to be the person he was but what happened to someone he loved broke something in him.
Not the rape, the killing did that to him, Ray killed a guy and himself that day, but he made the choice, paid the price, moved on while hating himself.. more or less moved on, so imagine that you suddenly get a memo, that you were set up and you, a police officer and a good man, killed an innocent man, ruined your career, your life, your family for absolutely nothing, no revenge, no justice, nothing but a petty killing.. he was not as bad as the bad guys he was supposed to catch and bring to justice, he was worse, way worse a lowlife killer and to a point he made that choice. That's fucked up to a whole new level of fucked up. imho.
Just finished watching with my wife. Her first time. Maaan honesty such an underrated season of a show. It stands on its own grea story and great all around acting by Rachel, Vince, Tyler and especially Colin one of the most underrated actors imo.
People give the second season a lot of shit but it had some great elements to it. It wasn't perfect but the moments with Ray and his son really hit home for me.
The ending is one of the hardest hitting endings of anything ever Imo. Ray was a great character and Farrell’s performance was incredible. The season has some problems with being a little convoluted but it was some solid shit with alot of great moments, it just had the impossible act of following s1. Never deserved close to the hatred it got from some critics and way to much of the audience. Honestly one of the most over hated shows/movies Ever imo.
I liked season 2. Season 1 of True Detective was some of the greatest television I've ever seen and clearly the better season. That doesn't mean season 2 wasn't also good. I enjoyed it. Don't get the hatred for it. That's just me though.
As a father with sordid history and problems with addiction, seeing his character literally feels like somebody driving a nail into my chest especially when he talks about his son. I may be a piece of shit but that kid is the only good thing he has in his life, it made me cry. Because honestly without my three-year-old son I don't know if I'll still be around. Most people watching this or reading this will not be able to relate, maybe somebody can
@@lmolo1751 once i find another job off book ill be gucci. Just turned 28, Today lol been married 5 plus years and my son is 4 starting prek next week. Lifes good
S2 was more like a gangster crime mini series than what it was supposed to be. I never felt that evil presence like I did in S1. But overall the characters, dialogue and casting was superb.
Colin Farrell is such a good actor, would’ve had a chance to win best actor Emmy if the season got better reception from critics. Also s2 is solid imo, not as good as s1 which is legendary but a lot better than it got credit for. Great video man, fantastic character and performance in a convoluted but solid season with one of the hardest hitting endings ever Imo.
I know right! Even in his face mannerisms like when he goes to that bully’s house that ripped up Chads expensive shoes and when the bully comes outside Colin’s face went from normal to down right terrifying. He look so angry I that’s hard to do.
Obviously, Velcoro teaching his son to fight back against his bullies OR funding lessons on his behalf would've been preferable but...beating the shit out of the bully's father to teach him the consequences of his pettiness and how cruelty comes home was a nice alternative. I loathe the step father for just relying on the impotent administration to dole out the justice his step-son deserved; children sheltered by such systems never learn to stand on their own and bullies who have the hands slapped never learn empathy. This is truly a woman's world...
First of all great work man!All i have to say is second season is so so underrated, people got influenced by the critics and they were all in rush saying it wasnt good..Both seasons of TD were great.. P.S Ray Velcoro is one badass motherf##ker..
I watched the Season 2 til the 2nd episode, I was expecting great chars like Rush Cohle, indeed. But Ray Velcoro? It was awesome. The tribute was awesome. Thanks!
One of the best season in television.. a truly masterpiece, and Raymond Velcoro one of the best character ever created. Season 2 is 1 thousand times better than S4
To me this is showing how much a human can give and how hard you try it doesnt matter all that matters for them is your blood they want it because its the purest source.
I love you. I don't care what anyone says. Thanks for doing THIS TV show...these episodes. I had a lot of movies Come back to me because you did this show....
Ray is a man we miss in our lives, Somehow was lost but kept his morals as a father. There is one truth about him, Great father you don't want to mess with his son. Killed the man who he thinks rapped his wife. And He stands by his friends. Last thing he cares about is himself.
When Ray looks up the trees like that he starts the remember what his father said to him in his dream and accepts his own fate i see you you small trees like giants everytime i watch that scene brokes my hearth so much
Man I'm going to miss Ray V. so much such a beautiful video music worked well I'm just so sad that last message didn't get sent to his son or her conduct of least taken out Det. Buress in the woods.... but ray lives in thru Chad velcoro and his new born RIP Ray Velcoro
