God Bless Shirley Gross. We first moved to Miami Beach with our newborn daughter in 1961. We lived in a building across the street from Rabbi Sender Gross and his Shirley and their children. On the other side of our apartment was the church that was converted into the Hebrew Academy and also a synagogue. They were my inspiration for putting my children into a Hebrew School. When I would go out to the backyard the windows of the classrooms would be open and I would listen to the children singing and learning with their Morah. After we moved away I hadn't seen her for twenty years. She knew exactly who I was! She had been visiting someone at the hospital on a Shabbat. We were having a Shabbat Kallah party. Rebbetzen Shirley came to the door and we welcomed her in. She had heard the singing and dancing in the house. We got her refreshments and I sat down with her. I smiled at her and said "I know you for over twenty years". She turned to me and said I know exactly who you are, your husband our little babies. I was so touched as she told some beautiful stories about us. I never realized that she had taken notice of us. Having a large family and congregation to care for.

(As I told Yaakov) I am glad to share that my Life included 2 of the Rabbis who Shirley mentioned. 1st, Rabbi Lehrman traveled to visit the DP Camps & to Israel on Nov. 29, 1947, with my paternal grandfather. 2nd, I use to visit Rabbi Lehrman’s Temple Emanuel on Miami Beach, when my classmates had a Bar/ Bat Mitzvah. 3rd, Rabbi David Lehrfield, obm, of The Young Israel of N. Miami Beach, signed a Jewish Single Certificate for me to be allowed to marry in Israel. B”H

My Dad A”H was born into poverty in 1930. He was raised to be a Chalutz. He left high school at age 14. He was primarily self taught. He worked at what he loved…tinkering, inventing etc. Eventually without a college degree he was at the top of the defense industry. We were raised that college wasn’t a plus….knowledge to e applied was the family vision!!!! haShem is in charge of our parnussah. College is in charge of sheker, hedonism and debt!!!!

Why don’t you just appreciate this for what it is ⁉️ That’s the problem with today’s “entitlement” generation, with all your gadgets and gizmos 🤦‍♀️ 😡
