He acts just like my son's black lab. Dog toys that I had forgotten he had, stuff from the trash can, sticks that he smuggled inside, rocks that he hid under his tongue on the way in, etc.

Yes, Captain Underpants ! He was quite the underpants, socks, bras, shirts and anything else he retrieve from the clean clothes pile. I think he has grown out of that stage. Or else I have missed those videos! Regardless, Sterls is so proud of himself passing along his "finds" -- that it would be impossible to be annoyed at him !

Omg! I remember seeing Sterling “retrieving” items and having them in his mouth when I began following him on RU-vid and IG. Nowadays, they habit seems to have disappeared, because he has Colin for a happy companion. Happy days Sterling 😀😀😀

I love these videos. Sterling is awesome! Frowning up my dad use to throw our stuff in a “special trash can” he said if it was in the floor It must be trash. We learned to pick up after ourselves quick. I dunno why but this reminds me of him😂

MY dog is also a Golden and definitely is not as good at giving up treasures, and not chewing, as Sterling is! You guys are lucky!!!

I think about Doris' ankle because I've been there. I had my Dog Toby then. This happened....Toby was worried because he KNEW. Plus, I couldn't go up and down the stairs very well, using crutches. If I was on my feet too long, my doctor warned me. This happened in 1991. That Xmas - our tree was smaller - Gift Cards instead of personal presents. Wore satin ballerina slippers to the Xmas parties (couldn't dance). Our Turkey was ordered cooked. My husband played lots of Xmas Music and served me nice drinks. The accident happened 1/2 block from our home. Poor Tom and Toby, because they never saw me in that condition. Being an active, athletic person - it was a terrible setback for me.

We have a 12 month Golden Retriever called Buddy. He does the same thing, he’s particularly keen on footwear. Guess it’s a trait of the breed. It does make us laugh 😄 3:14

Mine brings me a swap. I foolishly would give him a treat if he dropped any puppy acquisitions. This was great for teaching him not to chew and frankly keeping him alive and away from the vet as a puppy. Now he's grown if you have something he wants, he gleefully brings you a swap. Usually one of his toys as he is pretty good about not touching things that are not his. I indulge him because it's so cute. Who doesn't love a torn up, muddy, slobber filled toy on their lap or thrust into their face while they try and eat a sandwich.

My golden just turned 4 and has recently started doing the same thing. At first I thought he was fetching with a delay, so I would give him a treat. Now he expects a treat about 50 times a day, every time he brings me something with a proud look on his face. 😅it’s the cutest thing and I don’t plan on stopping him, either!

This is why the door to my bedroom is locked at all times. My hovawart does the exact same thing however if I do not give a treat in return he will tear the items. Leading to a time when I was out of summer shoes as well as bras.
