The fans set up as the Union Jack on the floor was next level. Bret carrying a nervous and anxious Bulldog. By far the best match the Bulldog had in his career. With Bret calling the match in the ring it speaks measures of just how good The Hitman was. Love this You Tube channel! Keep the videos coming lad!
I'm glad you mentioned that huge music events that happened at Wembley. Going up on Detroit, Wembley always seemed like such a magical place where only the biggest music acts played.
Yeah it's known for Live Aid as much as it's known for sports. Queen's legendary performance there is still talked about all the time in the UK Also it looked like no other stadium, it just seemed absolutely gigantic for some reason. The new Wembley is actually bigger than the old one, and has more seats, but it looks a lot smaller than the old one somehow. I've wanted WWE to do a wrestlemania or summerslam or royal rumble here for like 20 years now. I always thought that gigantic arch would be brilliant for shooting pyro off of
I've been to new Wembley, the first international match there in 2007 between England and Brazil, magical place....unfortunately I never managed to go to old Wembley, everyone I know that did said old Wembley atmosphere was way better
Your already getting alot of exposure on Facebook and many wrestling sites from what I saw. It's good to see you finally get recognized for how well your channel is and why people like me always look forward to you putting out videos
It's absolutely mind boggling that Cindy Lauper (and Arsenio Hall) hasn't been inducted into the celebrity wing of the WWE Hall of Fame. If it wasn't for her (and Captain Lou) there never would've been a Rock & Wrestling Connection... period! Also, random thought here, I've always wondered why Beverly Brothers Hasbro figures were never made.
Crazy to think Ric Flair and Roddy Piper were at the event and neither of them had a match. Can't we trade the Tatanka/Berzerker Crush/Repo & Papa Shango v El Matador matches for a Ric Flair v Roddy Piper match.
WWE gave the fans NXT UK. However that’s like Hasbro giving UK collectors Transformers: Generations products that weren’t just Toys ‘R’ Us exclusives from Combiner Wars onwards but still shortchange them despite how big their UK fanbase is.
Something not mentioned is when Sensational Sherri is passed out and was getting carried by Shawn, she gives a wink and smile to the camera. She was knowingly playing both men off against each other.
I was there. Travelled down on the bus from Newcastle with my Dad who hated wrestling. We sat right up in the nosebleeds and my Dad could tell I was a little gutted I couldn’t see the wrestlers up close, so we sneaked past security about halfway through and we ended up sitting on the floor around 10 rows back! I always remember the noise of the LoD music hitting.
I sat in a chair in front of the TV waiting for about an hour with the right channel on, the Video Recorder cued up, and the remote control in my hand ready to press record! I was literally bouncing on my chair as we got close and I remember it being incredible. I watched the recording over and over again, and then some more. I never bought the Silvervision official release as I had the recording off the tele so I never saw the extra matches until I got the tagged classics version. What a show though!!! Bret told the story on his meet and greet tour in the UK about Davey Boy being smashed during the match and his impression of him was amazing!!!
Watched this live on TV in the UK with my parents... they absolutely loved it and I was gutted I couldn't go but this era of wrestling was a huge part of my childhood... i was a huge bret hart fan but I was over the moon davey won, shame he was in a state in the lead up but listening to brets funny interviews explaining it all showed how great of a performer he was... Nice trip down memory lane... the legion of doom angle was embarrassing with the doll looking back and I know they hated it but even with that I look back on this with huge fondness... been using this last batch of lockdown and boredom to go back to the late 80s/90s of wrestling and watch the shows and events... up to 93 from where I started in the 80s and working from home its been great :)
I used to watch the WWF back in the day. They used to have a pre-event show for free before the pay per view. That's when they showed matches like the Papa Shango vs El Matador.
I became a wrestling fan in the summer of 92 so this event has such a special place in my fandom. The Main Event was INCREDIBLE in Ring & had a real life story behind it despite it being face vs face match. BRET HART was made that nite in his loss to the BULLDOG. SADLY, You can tell HAWK is very loaded in the match if you know what your looking for. Those matches that weren't on the PPV were played on Prime Time Wrestling the following weeks after the PPV EVENT. GREAT VIDEO HERE AS USUAL BROTHER.
Animal has also said that because Hawk was so high he parked his bike in the wrong spot, forcing Animal to dismount on the side with the exhaust pipe. He said it was so hot it melted his tights into his calf and he had to do the match in extreme pain.
Man I remember my parents letting me buy this PPV. This was amazing show and for a 7 year old, I totally bought into the Bret/British Bulldog storyline. It’s krazy to find out there hasn’t been a big show like that since 🤦🏻♂️
I read years ago, of one idea they had for the I.C. title match that didn't happen. The idea was for at the end of the match, The Bulldog was supposed to walk up the Wembley steps to collect the belt, like you would when collecting the F.A. Cup. Would have been a great visual to see.
The Bulldog was in such rough shape in this match,Brett had to talk to him the whole match thru, and actually pulled it off. The Bulldog had been MIA and taken a four day bender of non-stop crack smoking. When he showed up to the event,he wasn't going to even do the match. Brett talked him into it,the trust these 2 wrestlers had with each other to go out in front of do many fans in the condition Bulldog was in.
Great vid as always. I was at the show so I have a particular fondness for it, love that you covered the dark matches and the business/promotion angle was really interesting too. Interesting that Animal says LOD was slated to face the Disasters - I find that really hard to believe. That feud was blown off in the spring; LOD lost the belts to Money Inc so they had beef there. Why would WWF book a face vs face LOD vs Disasters match? Doesn't make sense. The LOD vs Money Inc match was promoted for weeks and weeks as a Tag Team title match before the belts went suddenly to the Disasters shortly before the event - I've always wondered why. Perhaps WWF decided they wanted to give LOD a clean blow-off victory over Money Inc but were nervous about actually strapping them up.
We need a video of the infamous ECW Crucifixion angle and how it led to the departure of Kurt Angle. May have been a catalyst for Angle going to the WWE later than initially expected.
I don't want to enjoy this video but I am. I feel like SummerSlam 92 is a masterpiece of a SummerSlam! Will it ever be or feel this way again? These incredible eras really hold a magic all their own but magic none the less. I don't think it's come close in the last 15 years. Anyway...only the great legends like British Bulldog could actually win championships even when they don't want to and that's really saying something! 🇨🇦 🇺🇲🇬🇧
You can call it football, mate! We Yanks know when we’re talking to folks from any other country (except our neighbors to the north) that it’s called Footie. Our game is called American Football. And Canada’s carney version is Canadian Football.
American football is also a carney version of rugby, both of which evolved out of but Canadian football came first and US carneyed it up. It's nice wallowing in own filth, isn't it?
@@rayvenkman2087 Yeah that would have been sweet. I often wonder if they weren't gonna have a Hogan vs Warrior rematch at SummerSlam 92 had Hogan stayed after Mania 8.
I was there babaay! lil old 12 year old me. My biggest annoyance is that he never did it again. It's not hard to do again, just have the show on a Saturday where the tube runs 24hr, have the show start around 10pm UK time. Not hard. He'd sell way more tickets here
Its great that Bulldog won. But we could see through why he won, they did it before other UK events. The one at Albert Hall springs to mind. Even though it was a great match just give us what we see on TV. Dont try and pump up one guy just for the home crowd for him to fall out of favour the very next week on TV back in the states. Its like WWF going to Waco for a Royal Rumble with Hogan, Warrior, Earthquake, Undertaker etc and out of nowhere having the Waco Kid win for that one night, then waste the hype afterwards. We see through exactly what you're doing, at least build up Bulldog before the events.
wrestling bios you are the greatest wrestling channel ever and thats the bottom line because action jaxon said so that is my nickname wrestling bios you are the best
Now I could be misremembering but I *think* there was some kind of compulsory broadcast by Sky in the middle of this PPV, could that be the reason why the Crush match wasn't included?
I went , I was right up at the top 3rd row from the back. Had to spend hours on the phone to get a ticket and I didn't care , I was there, best day of my 11 year old life
I was there as a 9 year old boy with my dad and brother. Never forgotten. I have lost the programe which really annoyed me as wanted to get it signed one day by bret hart.
@mindfield Mog81 possibly but Wembley would mark a thirty year anniversary, not that I have any particular liking for London, the city gets worse each year.
@Sky Blaze Ketamine is a medication primarily used for starting and maintaining anesthesia. It induces dissociative anesthesia, a trance-like state providing pain relief, sedation, and amnesia.
I remember the live broadcast when Sherri and Shawn are getting interviewed, the camera guy zooms right in on the heart on her tights /pants at her vag! Sherri around this time was incredible ,must've been a lot of us young guys sitting with cushions over us with some of the outfits she wore ,😂
This is a bitter-sweet memory for me. I attended with my older brother and younger brother with his girlfriend. We had an amazing day being only 10 rows from the ring. I kept mementos and they were to become more than I expected. The following year my younger brother was killed in a car crash. The mementos from that day server as a reminder of the fun we had together and are cherished to this day. Thankyou WWF for giving us such a fantastic time.
Thats the genius of this match setup from his perspective. 1) He knew that WWF knew Bulldogs state at the time but also, the benefit of him main eventing in the UK. Bret delivered on the match and its just so satisfying to watch the dominoes after this fall to the point where he's the top man in the company. It certainly started before this event (some would say shortly prior to WW8 maybe and that piper match where he showed how good of a technical wrestler he was) but I think this is that next level. Love going back and watching it again.
@@Nitero_ I was there. The Undertaker had a huge pop & great entrance as well. The Macho Man v Ultimate Warrior match with Ric Flair & Mr Perfect making an appearance was great & Rowdy Roddy Piper's brief appearance got a great reaction as well. But Bret Hart! What a legend and to see him create one of the greatest matches of all time live was a honour.
@@ramkrishnayadav2326 Thats really cool! Im sure Bulldogs pop in person is legendary. I remember watching it in the US as a 8 or 9 year old and I lost it in this match Because Bret Was my guy but The Bulldog is the bulldog! Such fun memories.
right? if i was in bret's position, id would've panicked, it takes a special kind of person to call a match all on their own for 25 minutes straight when there opponent was just using crack less than 24 hours before your match....
i was 12 during this, American wrestling was taking uk by storm; my mate had sky sports and spent many a day round his house watching the events.it was awesome i remember the wwf sticker book with all these larger than life characters of that time still got it. that same year we got the best royal rumble ever i was hooked for a couple of years.
Yeah, unfortunately wrestling is rubbish now and no one cares about it like they did back then. They're not selling out the arenas in the UK like they used to. They still might have been able to sellout Wembley 10/15 years ago. I'm not so sure now though.
I'm pretty sure that was the first ever heel versus heel match on pay-per-view that year between The heartbreak kid Shawn Michaels and the model Rick Martel.
All the way to match of the year. Bret was that good, and Bulldog honestly deserves no credit for being a crack smoking addict, the night before and endangering Bret's well being in the performance.
@@lexkanyima2195 Exactly! The amount of trust was put on Bret's shoulders, and he stepped up and gave Bulldog the greatest match in his entire career and everyone was happy about it. Calling the entire match while it was happening, due to Bulldog forgetting everything. Bulldog on the other hand was going into this as the biggest event of his entire pro wrestling career, but he decided to smoke crack with the Neidhart the night before. Talk about screwed up priorities.
@@alanguages And you're going to single him out for that alone? Many wrestlers have had drug problems and are considered legends in the industry. Plus Bulldog is going to be inducted into the HOF.
