We should learn from mistakes committed by us in the past. Whenever race, religion, caste, language etc. are allowed to be misused to achieve political goals, it result in to tragedies like 1947.

Guhawa is where my grand parents grew up. Pre partition they (three families of Muslims) shared a home with three Hindu families in Guhawa (don't know how many years, decades or centuries). My dadi shared this story as well that Hindu women were always unhappy when they crossed their stove-place. May all those martyred during partition rest in peace!

As Muslims, my forefathers migrated to Pakistan from Kapurthala in Punjab. Amongst my extended family, 46 relatives of ours were killed in 1947 before we arrived in Pakistan. Today, not a single Muslim lives in Kapurthala. Unfortunately, our Sikh brothers had been brainwashed by Hindus into wiping out the Muslims in East Punjab. It was a cruel time but may all rest in peace. I bear no ill will towards our Sikh brothers as they were manipulated at that time. Remember, in 1947, Muslims formed 55% of the Punjabi population, the Sikhs 13%, and Hindus 28%. Muslims were even the majority of 51.5% in the Sikh holy city of Amritsar!!
