Wow another 5 year old video of yours that I stumbled upon. That is one sweet saw. Your information about the twisting of the blade because you aren’t letting the blade do the work or aren’t paying attention to the stroke are crucial. I just watched a video of yours that came out the other day, so 5 years later, and you still had the same great advice and presented it in such a great teaching way. You have a gift sir. Keep it up.
Have you tried a taller band saw blade? Milwaukee blade? Would help with blade twist. You could design a slightly different center bar using an arc to allow further clearance for cutting bigger wood. Nice saw.
Nice review!!! Nick's saw is one of my favorite pieces of kit in my tools. It's very functional, light, carries well, beautiful, and cuts like crazy!!!
Really good video. Well presented and you have a gift for explaining without extra gab. Makes me want to start bushcraft, and I’m a city boy. Who knows?
Cool, think I'll make me one this afternoon. Maybe with a bowed cross member to add more depth. Btw, to be fair to that saw, it is a bucksaw. They were rarely used to saw down trees but more commonly intended to saw logs on a cross buck The narrow blade causes less drag.
you can take apart a regular hand made bucksaw too though....why would you bother to spend money on a bucksaw when you can literally buy a lighter aluminum bowsaw mount for less, the whole problem with these is the amount of space they take up.
They really are very nice bucksaws. I have looked at alot of them, even made one for my buckskinning and Civil War renactments and chose Nick's saw over all the others on the market. Beautifull craftmenship and very well thought out classic design. I have one ordered a couple days ago and can't wait to receive it and use it and show it off at my next event.
