The shift from OD to XOD reminds me of how Bushiroad shifted Chronojet from Time Leap to ZTB. So not only was Trickstar & Vairina a aesthetic copy of Chrono Dran & Chronojet, Bushiroad also tried to copy & replicate how to support & market the deck.
Honestly overdress+Xoverdress had a potential middle ground they could’ve gone to where either both decks could’ve got supported at once OR the hybrid deck became more consistent but Bushi chose to go the “anime priority” and gave it to X. Personally as an Overdress/Xoverdress main, I didn’t care when they made the switch because both decks are fun to play but considering they had the ability to make it better and they chose not to, kind of naf if you ask me. Great video, really love the editing!
all i remember about the overdress mechanic is when the opponent would start crying when imprisoned their unit and gained a free plus 2-3 into my prison. good times
I think just like how Aichi went back from gold paladin to his og royal paladin clan in G, the next time we see Yu-yu in the anime, he might be using a new overdress-centric deck
It was a slap in the face watching Bushi leave the deck behind considering Bruce's support was still playable even with Biamance, specialy considering games like Yugioh and Digimon are able to print archetype support without locking it to a single deck such as Hero and Greymon. Heck Overdress was way more simplified than Xoverdress which consumed more resources and that's why it was a mess at the beggining of Will+dress. A part of me want's to think this was made cause they feared making the original deck more Op, but let's be honest it was so they could start from scratch to sell more (Even do having support for 2 related decks sells you MORE than support for a specific one alone)
I like these types of analysis videos for Yugioh, so I’m glad you’re doing one for Vanguard. If you don’t mind, I hope you can do a video talking about the Diabolos and Bruce deck.
I do think that part of the reason OD was shafted was because G4 was confirmed to be generally a design mistake. Tho that didn't stop them to make a new one in Drajeweled, bruh.
That's kinda sad to think about honestly... but then again, powercreep is inevitable. Let's just hope the ceiling isn't raised to an unreachable peak to the point that only a meta decks are the only decks you can use in tournaments...
@@manuelvfc6254 Yup, but still... knowing Bushiroad and how Powercreep works, then it's really just a matter of time b4 that ceiling starts becoming unreachable.
So I got into Vangaurd D era really late and the Overdress mechanic got me interested in the first place ... and through alot of testing I feel like I've kind of found a middle ground between Overdess and Xoverdress and it's one of my favorite D era decks by far
Nothing new, CFV is infamous for making tons of new mechanics and then just forgeting about them when the next hot gimmick arrives, whats theast time we got a new Legion again?
I love this concept than XoD because the theme is evolution, and not fusion/combine like XoD. Also the design is more appealing than XoD. The symbolism behind the mechanis is also one of the reason i love Overdress. Hope they'll bring back the deck in the future.
Issue is the deck is incomplete with will dress leaving the deck behind same with x over dress it has the finisher just still losing advantage every turn is just bad and power creep will just happen also deck space it didn’t matter what you do cause deck space was the most challenging thing to build around so u just have a jumbled mess that doesn’t interact with the past cards
What do you mean downfall? It was a gimmick at best, and Bushi always drops their gimmicks. Just look at Masque and Glitter, theres nothing new for Masque and all Glitter units are just support/alts for pre-existing ones shells/vanguards. Orfist is the only World Order deck, and there's only 4 World Orders. Plus they rebooted the game about 4 times now(G, V, Overdress, and DZ), so they're clearly not above dropping gimmicks and releasing legacy support for them in the form of overpriced _promos._ Smh, I hate this company lol
They only rebooted twice. As you could still use all your cards in G. And you can still use all the Overdress cards in DZ. The only times they rebooted was V and Overdress
I feel like until set 9, mahar was too perfect of a deck, it was difficult to add or remove anything. Amelia for instant grade 4, Arcs for extra draw, mahar can triple check and ping 1, experaridea for multi attack. Cards like effect crit helps with soul resource. It is doing much better than all decks during its time. I said set 9 was because it was the time where Bushi decide to speed up the game, every deck become 4 Attacks or more. Power can easily goes beyond 33k. Deck filtering happens more. And draw more often. So comes the more modern XoD, 4 attacks without looking forward to experaridea. The biggest problem with od and XoD, is that you spend more than the cards worth, it is a jumble mess. So I am glad they decide to say fk it, and make prayer dragons. I'm totally okay with them randomly to drop a new varina for both od and XoD.
@@jacobjensen7704 I'm trying to remember, cuz the last time mahar made it through tournament easily was around will dress time. But I'm sure it was when Bushi crank up the speed of the game. Maybe a bit earlier, but definitely during will dress.
@@jacobjensen7704 The problem with Jheva was that XoD was worst than Mahar when it first came out, so not a lot of people switching over until DBT07-08.
