Reid is one of the best example rolemodels of a great magic tournament player. He is very respectful to his opponents, always calm and collected and has just a ton of charm to go with his super-tight magic play. I played him in a 3v3 team grand prix, though I wasn't matchup up with him directly. He was extremely friendly and approachable and ofcourse beat the hell out of my teammate that had to face him in his 1v1 games. (with magic cards, not fisticuffs)

@@CardmarketMagic yoo a coverage of Jace TMS and the caw blade meta would be sick. Including how stoneforge mystic got banned despite being in a precon (which was still legal except it had to be the exact 60 cards of the precon) and how Jace finally got banned like a couple weeks before he rotated. Or actually birthing pod and its lifetime in standard and modern would be sick, not to mention splinter twin! And its ridiculous banning at the time and the fact its been locked away unfairly since "just for being popular" and not necessarily overpowered. @@CardmarketMagic It's possible you've already done some of these, but I'd love to see a video on the development and evolution of aggro-control with decks like Faeries, Caw Blade, and Delver (and probably earlier decks as well). Combo decks are so different that they could each get their own video, but a deck like Elves (starting in Extended, having some life in Modern and Standard occasionally, and popping up long-term in Legacy) that went through a lot of different iterations could be fun, especially since it also has the storyline of being a deck that took a whole Pro Tour by storm and made a junk rare suddenly super valuable. And for example, if you had LSV as a guest to talk about Elves at PT Berlin that would be super fun! Dredge is also a completely wacky deck that has gone through a ton of changes. I never played Dredge personally, but I always thought that the way cards like Bridge from Below and Dread Return, and the Dredge mechanic allowed you to basically play a completely different game from your opponent (your graveyard is basically your hand and you can both draw and cast cards from it, and mostly don't pay any mana for your spells) was a beautiful example of how deep Magic and the interactions of its tens of thousands of cards could go. Last idea would be Necropotence, since it's an oooold card that is currently being talked about a lot because of the One Ring. A lot of people know what Necropotence does, but they might not know about how it not only survived SO many ban cycles (along with partner in crime Dark Ritual), it somehow got reprinted in 5th Edition because players needed more Necro in their lives lives. There's probably a lot of fun history to dig into around how card evaluation, deckbuilding, and "ban-worthiness" has evolved over time. Sorry for the long reply! 😅
@pinobluevogel6458

Another great deck history video, these are really awesome to watch and extremely well produced! I remember clearly back in the standard Jund days, I optimistically designated my deck as one with a good Jund matchup, conceding some amount to other decks at the time. But even my overloaded with value, filled with great early interaction, Grixis control list struggled to even beat the deck that I had specifically designed it to beat. There was a reason control decks weren't played much at the time, a big one being that even just the Jund deck by itself could also just overload you with value plays that traded 2 for 1, while also pressuring you with solid beatdown. Looking back at it, even though it was a menace of a deck, I still really enjoyed playing the format at the time, which was soon being replaced with all kinds of Jace, the Mind Sculptor decks with broken equipment and some amount of Eldrazi Conscription lists. Standard went frustrating after this for quite some time. I clearly remember the Jund era as one of the longer times in history where standard was an enjoyable format to both play and design decks for, especially on a budget.

@@CardmarketMagic it's the least we can do when you provide this quality of free entertainment. Personally my all time favorite would probably be about cube-history. However, I'm not sure that video is doable as cube isn't a sanctioned format so there isn't much recorded history there. Realistically I'd love to see a video on tempo (vs card advantage) with focus on tempo decks through the time. I know you covered this during your RDW-video but it's be cool with a brief history on tempo that isn't just "kill your opponent fast". Tribal decks would also be awesome!

Okay, this was the best video I watched in a long time and I really got sentimental. Bommer Jund was my pet deck in the 2013 Legacy-GP in Strasbourg and it got me really far. It was basically the shell you guys were talking about with Deathrite Shamans, Tarmogoyfs, Punishing Fire + Grove Combo, Liliana, Thoughtseize, Abrupt Decays and Dark Confidants. God, I loved this deck. I went 8:1 on day one, and sadly did misplay on day 2 and got the 33rd place. After the Deathrite ban the deck died and I sadly had to change. But deep down in my heart, this deck will always be one of my favorites. As you said, good honest matches. Thank you for this amazing video, please keep on going with this quality content.

33rd in a GP is honestly a very solid finish! I'm happy you enjoyed the video :) it was nostalgic for me too. So many memories connected to that deck

@@CardmarketMagic My children and I would love a deep dive into Eldrazi (Tron) and the evolution of mono-blue play. You are our favorite channel to watch and enjoy MTG together as a family. Thank you all, and cheers from New Jersey, USA!

@@francocarozza4546 ooooh, Eldrazi tron might be too short of a story for a whole video, but the history of the eldrazi decks in MTG in general might make for a great video :D since there have been so many iterations and Eldrazi Tron is one of the more iconic
