The situation hasn't changed but only gotten worse because of the rampant stupidity found on the internet.

it is rare to hear such a power message presented concisely and so simple even a young unlearned person could understand. i make comedy and post to youtube and a lot of the stuff he states almost sounds like a comedy routine i would have been happy to write. The profound difference, is that when he points out that people kill their saviors, he is correct and this is not comic. i think of those like joan of arc who lead the french, only to be captured and killed, and a host of individuals from the biographies i read who were martyred for thinking differently and later, society as a whole realized they were correct. another that comes to mind is a doctor who used to wash his hands between patients and had a low mortality rate. he was ridiculed and thought of as a loser. not so today. we stand in the presence of a wise counselor if we will only listen and learn at his feet as the young greeks did so long ago

This is how to be a better salesman claptrap. It's inspiring. It's motivating. It's not true. Too much depends on the performance of others. Will you make it past the receptionist? Will you be listened too? Will you be believed? Will your prospect buy your product? Will you be fairly and generously compensated for your efforts? This film was typically shown to a sales force whose employer wanted more sales but did not want to pay more for the extra sales effort involved. I spent my life in sales and I know there's nothing secretive here. Your employer wants you to work harder. That's it. Provided you have your house in order; that is doing the true best with what you have to work with, are honest and forthright, that is all you can do. That's it. So ask yourself why you are watching a pep talk and not out there selling? To close, even the title of this business propaganda film is a lie as there are no secrets revealed. This old war horse knows this little movie is crap and now, you know too.

Right after High School I was about as eager for four years in college as going to prison. There was a retired man who worked with me who told me things I never knew would change my life. The #1 was.." One day it WILL be four years later so you might as well have college done when you get there." I used this time game in smaller ways such as in 3 months I would have X done. In 6 months this weight or this money. That and my own personal invisible motivational speaker on my shoulder who barked orders at me. What ever works just don't be stagnant.

People and thinking and character and poise *like this* are what made America great in a post-war world. Or perhaps I’m just being nostalgic.

This is a great case for minimum basic income for all Americans. If you want to be a go getter, go for it! If not, you shouldn’t have to choose between starving and conforming to eat and see a Doctor.
