When I was a kid this used to make me cry. Still does.

I get it, I cry with certain songs but I'm an old sap. I'll play one of those soon and we'll see if I can get through it. Thanks for watching.

I would not want to meet anyone who is not moved by this song.

Most beautiful and the saddest song I’ve ever heard. Nobody has ever covered this with any class or dignity. Great singer/songwriter from NZ

I don't think Ralph is a New Zealander, he was born in Kent, England.

I really love this song. I heard it the first time as a kid in the 80’s. I haven’t heard this version before though. I’ve heard it with Roger Whittaker

It would take a very hard person to not be moved by that song

@@deepcutsreactions7774 - It's the same across the pond.....and yet we have people crossing the channel in dinghies from France claiming refugee status - and they get put up in 3* and 4* hotels, given phones and 'pocket money'......go figure.

In the 1970s in Britain, if someone told you that in the 2020s people would be using foodbanks and living in what is called energy poverty they would have laughed.

Ralph's written so many wonderful songs, it would be great if you reacted to some of his less well-known ones (I appreciate Streets isn't well known in the US). For others commenting on social issues, you could try Peppers and Tomatoes, Stranger to the Seasons, Birman or Water of Dreams; but lots of other great songs with different themes. His recent West 4th Street and Jones is an instant classic.

They used to play this song in my old primary school back in the 1970s. I heard other schools did the same.
