I wish I could trap his voice in a jar and put it on a shelf. Maybe take it out and use it once a while to pick girls up and sing in public. Then put it back.
this was so long ago, but seth's speech outside fox was measured and realistic but this pinhead interviewer wants to make sure that the studios are evil - but he still wants to be paid to make a hit show..
...Well, your oinion is your opinion.. But i think it's rather silly of you to bring religion into such a thing.. It's a strike.. these people want what they deserve.. Comparing them to Satan is not only a little harsh but also really ignorant. But then again, judging you by your comment you've probably never seen Family guy..Because of the "God-unfriendly content" Zomfg! THEY MENTION GAYS!
The Writers Guild of America represents the rights of writers. It's up to them to make sure the writers receive fair rights. When they decide to do a strike, the writers have no choice. A lot of writers were part of it because they support the guild that's supporting them, whether they agreed with it or not. It's not lame that he supported his fellow writers who felt they didn't get their dues.
This time around, 2023, he CANCELLED both his animated shows! They were planning on hiring scabs. Openly! I heard that on some entertainment news shows. Almost immediately, he CANCELED both shows. They'll be back. 2023. #TheOrville is in limbo so he's only picketed and Instagrammed for the animated shows - no talking this time. Seth is a good union man.
So I would say he is a biased source. Furthermore, you haven't, in my opinion, addressed the issues that the writers are in contention with. Are their points valid? Do they have a right to residuals for digital/internet use of their media? In my opinion, logically they have as much right to that as all the other parties. What about the AMPTP using Force Majeure to escape unprofitable obligations? Also, setting the stage with this conflict helps AMPTP's position with the DGA.
IATSE has more at stake to see all other unions, DGA, Producer's Union, WGA, resolve all labor issues ASAP. Furthermore, in the power of hollywood hierarchy, writers are at the bottom of the influence heap on the creative side. I would say that as a responsible leader, IATSE pres. has an obligation to side with the group more responsible for employing his members. In general, to support whichever side has more influence over the fates of his own labor contracts and members' employment.
Many of those who interview the people they admire should probably learn a few professional techniques before going out there and pissing off the interviewee. "Will you still have a job?" How is Seth supposed to answer that? 'Twas rude. And insane to automatically assume that Seth or anyone else would be fired for supporting the union.
All in all, I respect your willingness to discuss the topic, and you seem to have a personal interest in IATSE. Are you or a friend or family member involved with that group? If you are, you have my sympathy. Please do not think that I don't understand what it feels like to have other groups labor interests hurt your life. (worked for Supermarket in cal a few years back. sigh.)
By demonstrating that they will endure striking on this front, it forces the DGA to think hard about it's own demands in this area. IMO, the DGA should be supporting the WGA more to secure it's own rights in this area, but they are much closer to the AMPTP in the power hierarchy. I strongly sympathize with the IATSE labor, if they had struck WITH WGA, the entire conflict might have gone faster. All ent. Unions should consider solidarity to be their biggest tool, considering the VAST money.
OK, Since you're responding with facts and not just blah blah, I will pay you the respect of not calling names or insulting you and just debate with you.
I'm an uneducated youth who doesn't fully understand the extent of the strike and their reasoning, but what from what I've seen, there are those who support the strike, those who subjectively argue about the WGA's stance on residuals and profits, and those who bitch about the delay of their favorite show, and find it convenient to blame the writers. It's refreshing to see genuine debate instead of meaningless demands to bring a show back or pointless arguing about the writers' quality. 5/5
Ahhh, ya, i also apologize. RU-vid arguments are hard to keep classy. Please convey my sympathies to your son, and hopefully he can re-enter the workforce with new and better opportunities when this is over. I also wish to see the strike over with and all parties dealt with equitably. Good luck, camshaff.
as a production student, that's how interviews are supposed to be conducted. he actually shouldn't be in-frame at all, but he definitely should be facing away from the camera - it places focus on the subject rather than the interviewer.
@samarafan17 I set out to pay attention to what he was saying, but it ended with me commenting on how hot he was.... Does it matter what he's saying... really? I like him, but come on! ha!
