Honestly death isnt 1st fear to come in existence irl it is fear of unknown and right after it death those are 2 of 1st fears of humanity and should be strongest devils i think pochita is fear of being forgotten making it way under death.

I think fear of the unknown would be the darkness devil, since being in the dark is unknown so it falls under the same umbrella. Another comment on this video pointed out that Pochita is likely the non existence / extinction devil and is most likely the actual strongest devil.

I guess. Children don’t really develop a good concept of death until they reach a certain age, usually around five. That’s leaves a pretty sizeable chunk of humanity that the Death devil shouldn’t really be able to draw power from that Darkness and Falling would be able to. The idea that we’re afraid of Darkness and Falling because it ends in Death is evolutionarily true, but it’s not psychologically true. Even if you couldn’t die, Darkness would still be scary because it could still result in mauling or dismemberment (which is coincidentally something that the Darkness devil likes to do).

I'm pretty sure it's the same reason why he was sought after by Maki. He's just too OP, even by himself

I think there is one and it leans into what I think Pochitas true identity is. The extinction/non existence devil because fundamentally every life in the universe is scared of not existing even more so than death since we've seen some people don't fear death but not existing is something so engrained in us no amount of willpower can overcome it.

@@zamanimvukela4573 I do like that theory. Somewhat related, a personal theory that I have is that Pochita might have something to do with a "human devil." One has to exist if only because social anxiety is pretty common. But beyond that, a humanity devil could be quite interesting because it could be the case that the thing that devils fear the most is a human race that that does not fear them/has forgotten about them, as that is their pathway to nonexistence.

We are afraid of the unknown because we do not know if it can be dangerous and therefore cause death.

I disagree. Even if you intensely believe in an afterlife, and are convinced you'll reach some type of paradise, you will likely still fear death. Life has evolved to avoid death first and foremost, because otherwise there would not have been a chance for life to evolve and reproduce. As such, all life instinctually avoids death. All other fears stem from the fear of death / non-existance.

Death is scary but not evil as a concept, although if the death devil brings mass destruction and the end of the world then damn I guess that's not good, I feel maybe it won't be evil at all and there will be a twist but gotta see, after all the gun devil was just a manifestation of a man made evil gone in a sec, so its gonna probably be a blast

Pain, control, loss of bodily integrity, and hell are easy examples off the top of my head that often make death seem preferable, or eliminate the possibility of escape through death. Also if the only reason people fear things like spiders and snakes is the possibility of being killed by them, they would be afraid of everything that can kill them, not just one or some of them like we usually see. It's usually the method of death that makes the fear, more than dying itself, like passing away in your sleep vs being hacked apart by chainsaws. There is even a common saying that there are worse things than death, because people recognize that death can be the end of suffering and the start of new life, or believe that death isn't the end. Regarding the manga, we know of unreliable narrators in the story (just look at the Justice/Fire fake-out) AND that relative power levels literally change all the time based on public perception of fears. I think discussion is warranted and I don't really get why that would annoy someone.
