🍿🐥This one is a big longer than I'd usually do, and also a different type of video to usual, so let me know what you thought! Also are there any other videos you want me to cover? This same type of video for other nations maybe? Let me know below! 😄
I'm an American patriot who's against the idea of fascism, Nazism, and the Nazis. But I still can't get myself the historical flag of Germany? Whether you like it or not, it was the flag, and I'm not gonna cencor it just because the Nazis did horrible things. In fact, if the goal was really to avoid offending people, then why isn't the USSR flag censored? Many people, including my family suffered under communism the same way many people suffered under fascism. But guess what? We don't get offended. I don't want it censored, we don't want it censored, no one gets offended over a flag for it just existing, and being the flag.
It's not about censorship or getting offended. It's a symbol of hate even to this day and is used by groups which do horrible things to people, and that's not something I want to support even if it's just in a mod ☺️ It's also illegal to display in a bunch of different countries including my own Also it is different to the Soviet flag, because there's not groups today using that flag to rally under. There is for the swastika 🙂 you can really stretch that argument to every country if you want to, however, there is a line and for me the swastika flag is on the other side of it
I feel like if the game was actually historically accurate the flag should've been historical, but hoi4 is a fun depiction of that era in which the historical flag of german reich doesn't really fit. You can, of course, make the argument about other flags and you'd be partially correct, but you need to remember what the flag stood for, not what people behind it were doing
I heard somewhere that the division attrition military high command guy is nearly worthless because it only removes 8% of your attrition percentage rather than 8% flat. For example if they’re taking 10% attrition, the guy will lower it to 9.2%. Most people have the idea that it’d go from 10% to 2%, but apparently it does not.
@@hammotimee So, in order to accurately portray flags in history, you have to support Nazism? Did your parents have any children that weren't braindead?
Taking free trade as first pp pick would be more beneficial to research beginning industry quickly and take 4 year plan as 3rd focus. You could also take motorisation dive early, design division and switch to state serves military. Also improved worker conditions wouldn't be necessary if you had political loyalty
@@hammotimee there’s nothing really wrong with the main Nazi flag in a historical WW2 game in my opinion. But thank you very much for helping me, I actually learned a lot!
1 minute in and we got this dude who’s supposed to be doing a guide, not a personal commentary, telling us what mods to sub to and what ones not to. Bro it’s a ww2 game man calm down. Ludi made a much better guide
Interesting choice for early game advisors, i usually pick Goebels ( 10% war support ) and go straight to war economy. EDIT: Another interesting thing you can do as Germany is stack as much speed for your divisions as you can. Heinz Guderian (advisor) gives armor speed +10% + another 10% ( i think its 10% ) from the spirit of division and another 10% if you get an Army Maneuver army advisor. Also for the plane wouldn't it be better to use armor plates, self sealing fuel tank ( i know it costs more rubber ) and a drop tank ?
Yeah that's also a good approach! More than one way to do it hey 😀 RE: the planes, I would usually do exactly what you say, however Germany needs to produce a lot more refineries to cover the rubber cost if you use SSFT, whereas two armour plates doesn't cost an extra resource and gives almost as good protection
@@sld1776 Right at start of the game, start a war goal on dutch east indies. You can steamroll the Netherlands which will capitulate both nations and get you easy rubber for a long time.
Great Video! Usually waiting to do 4 year plan is sub optimal for a good Germany run. I usually rush those free civies and by doing this in Early 38 I have 100 Civs.
Thanks for the tip! I'd be interested for someone to do the math on whether the bonus from having higher industrial output or the more civs is better. I mean I won't do it, but it's fun to think about 😂
@@hammotimee From my expirience it is better to get the bonuses on later tech (tools 3 dispersed 3) its a very minor difference in the end since civ builds arent the way with germanies mill construction speed anyway. Usually i do that since it takes a huge chunk of my research which is very helpful alot of times
I don’t like any part of history being censored. If you sensor symbolic things, where’s the line for censoring other stuff? I believe any game or movie that doesn’t explicitly state that it’s an alternate history should be held accountable to being as historically accurate as can be reasonably expected.
The line is censoring symbols which have been and still are widely used to incite hate. This symbol in question is banned in many countries, don't pretend that all things are equal in terms of impact they can have That's fine for you to believe that, but you're in the tiny minority of people who have an issue with this
Just an opinion: For me this build seems really weak when it comes to early game industry buildup. After Rheinland i always want to rush down from 4 year plan to the additional research slot. On the way you pick up really good bonuses for industry research, construction speed and Hjalmar Schacht who is very cheap and boosts your civ boom even more. But most importantly you get 12 civs for free from two of those focuses, further speeding up your civ snowballing. And if you get army innovations and treaty with USSR after the additional research slot its still plenty of time to get the tanks you want. Rush 38 medium early without bonus so you get the -2 years bonus on the 40 medium. Btw, i dont get it at all why you go army innovations II long before you re able to get any value from it. I also highly recommend that the first PP pick should always be free trade for even more construction and research speed. The latter is huge for tank and plane tech rushing.
@@hammotimee you have to use guerrilla tactics for it to work so make it your preferred tactic the whole idea of it is to never lose Africa or Italy to the allies with guerrilla tactics so German tanks can easily push out Africa another thing it works well for is an unbreakable dday wall lategame (guerrilla tactics reduce attacker damage by 80% so you just stack 9 10w per tile to fill the combat width and have the most defence possible and you can basically never break )
@jmedlin81 is right. In the top-right of your game console, it says the date... then, on the top-left, it shows the wrong flag. It is childish to pretend that people don't notice the incongruity.
As a person that graduated from a top 20 university with a triple major in Military History, Political Science and Criminology , I believe I am far from missing the point. It was, after all, the regime that you are attempting to erase from history, who chose to use that same tactic to silence their opponents and justify their twisted views.@@hammotimee
It seems to me, given the bonuses that Germany receives for the construction of mills, it is most profitable to either not build factories at all, or only a small number. Has anyone tested this strategy before?
I know people have tested it for sure and I'm not 100% on the most optimal way to go about it. But I do like to have a larger civiilian industry earlier on especially for an MP game because the combined industry of the UK, US and Soviets is always gonna outproduce you, so I like to try and close the gap as much as I can
The best way is to cut civs in april 37 That usually works with the timing fi the mill guy. Most meta builds focus on getting refs the most efficient way so you usually cut mills at 120-125, 100 if you are extra greedy.
Great guide but I would recommend starting a war goal on the Dutch East Indies right at the start of the game. The Netherlands will defend them which allows you to capitulate the Netherlands lightning fast and end war. You'll get to annex the East Indies and get a ton of rubber all game. This will allow you to rush airplanes quickly along with techs like self-sealing fuel tanks without worry.
I haven’t played for a couple years and just got back into it. I didn’t even realize the swastika wasn’t part of the base game or that I had a mod installed. That’s how much power it doesn’t have over me. While I get where you’re coming from, you’re still playing as Hitler and Nazi Germany. There’s no way around that.
Agreed! However I think there's a point where extra details are unnecessary, just as it doesn't make sense to have concentration camps or ghettos, it doesn't make sense to add the swastika for me. Neither add to the gameplay, they only facilitate a weird fantasy for the wrong people
@@hammotimee That's fair. The fact that iconography and information is somewhat hard to find just tells you that there are still bad people out there ruining the access of it with their beliefs. I like to listen to documentaries while I play and realized I have never actually heard a full Hitler speech. Needless to say, you can't find them here on RU-vid.
Very good guide. Very well explained. Please use „Halmar Schacht“ in early game. Especially when you pick „Sudetenland“ late in the build-up. 75 xp are absolutely worth it😉😉 Question: Why do you use the focus „Molotov-Ribbentrop-pact“. In my playthroughs in almost every patch, the Russian ai never attack on „historical ai on“❓❓❓
Because you delay the four year plan, you don't get the return for the captain of industry! And Molotov Ribbentrop is historical because of most mp game rules :)
Been a while but guide is still pretty solid, did well as Germany and even pushed the Soviets beyond Moscow but those damn brits just didnt back down 😭
It doesn't matter if they're empty that early tbh, you would just trade oil, but to get XP all you need to do is trade 1 unit of oil from someone and leave your navy on training. A slow trickle will come in and then before you go to war you can stop training and then trade for a bunch of oil to quickly fill your reserves 😊
Another great video! Thanks for showing me a LOT of things I need to work on. I swear...This game isn't the learning curve of Eve Online, but it's pretty darn close. Earned a subscription as well.
The symbol was turned 45 degrees when it was adapted by bad Germany and assumed some very dark symbolism. The original symbol was thousands of years and was originally used to represent in some cultures good luck/fortune. There are some historic buildings in Sydney that used the original symbol in floor tiles I don't remember which ones.
Some people choose to let words and images hurt them. The rest of us have spines and choose to not let history repeat itself by standing up to tyranny, especially censorship.
I'm not sure if the second silent workhorse is worth it, you got him in June of 1936. He gets you 15% of 1, (.15) per day. That takes 1000 days to pay off. That is about 2.75 years. So that doesn't pay off until March or April of 1939, then you get him for what like 10 more months? So that's about 50 political power that you make off of him assuming my math is ballpark correct. Why not instead use that money to switch to free trade or get a designer or army advisor, seems a better investment to me
Sometimes, when I invade France, I lose because of mass attrition or it takes like 2 months to capitulate them, and that's with only using 1 full army of 21 widths and some tanks mostly 11-13 tanks that I make 26 width. But I see you used 5 full armies and 13 tank divisions, I wonder how is that possible.
there shouldnt be mass attrition if you put supply on motorized. It could be that you are indeed too fast so that conquered supply are still disabled. I usually have may armies on Benelux and Lothringia front while i breakthrough with my tanks at Dunkirk and Calais and then rush down to Paris. Those might take a bit attrition but remember with collabs you only need to take Paris with a single unit. Sometimes I make it even before Belgium falls
Make sure you're using your airforce over the regions you're fighting in! Don't push through the maghinot line, only push through the Netherlands and Belgium, just do them one at a time too
Sure thing! Against the USSR just something simple like 20w with support arty or aa is absolutely fine! Since you'll be using your tanks to push mostly anyway
My two tank divisions in early '39 still do not have any tanks. I'm following your production strategy, and there still aren't any factories building tanks, as the tank line is still waiting for factories to be built. Did you change something in the production queue before the Poland war? Or did you go with them with only a few tanks in the divisions? Also, you showed the training panzer division and queued up some to train, but when did you convert them, and how did you organize them into your army?
Hmm, generally for me the factories gained from all the annexations fill out the panzers, but tbh if you have to build 5 mils earlier to get that production or take some off guns it's fine! I don't use the training division myself, but you'd deploy them, train them to level 3, then convert them! Hope this helps!
@@hammotimee I found that out after I got the UK to cap. What happened is I did the full 100% collab on France, so there were fewer factories to produce mils earlier than in your run-through. I did what you said and moved some mils around to get tanks producing, and it was fine. Thanks!
Generally you'd have your infantry between 15-20, and for tanks you'd want them bigger to fit more stats into the divisions, but they've changed the combat widths a bit so you're going to want something between 30-40 now
@@leafbou if someone else likes the Nazi flag so much they need it in their game, and they don't understand what it represents, or they do understand but still think it's okay to showcase that, I'm not going to agree with that person
I am on one of my first play throughs right now and this is helping me immensely! My issue right now is when I try to attack Belgium, French and British reinforcements come and slow me down to the point of me not breaking through. Any tips would help me greatly!
Glad to help! Best advice is to make sure you only declare on belguim once poland and then the netherlands have capped, make sure your whole airforce is active and use all 4-5 armies with your tanks to push :)
wouldnt it be easier if you just naval invade and go around the english channel? it is 2 seas but still not hard to take really, you can land in hull or Newcastle.
I personally don't think there's anything wrong with wanting the historical flag for Germany especially if you're playing historically accurate. Anyways thanks for the guide 👌
@@hammotimee I don't know if you're joking or not with this response But I would say attacking your viewer's especially over a in game mod that makes a history based game a little more historical is a bad strategy. Like yeah Its a Nazi flag and they were bad we all know that sure some people do it to be edgy but that doesn't change the fact that thats the historical flag and some people just want that nothing cringe about it.
The answer is not banning a flag or symbol, that only perpetuates ignorance. The answer is pure unadulterated truth. Truth is the light that combats the darkness of ignorance.
Uh, pretty sure most people dont want truth. For example north americans would dislike the fact that nazis praised how US got rid pf its native population🤭
Hey can you tell me which country should i annex in hoi4 to get sufficient tungsten supply? I know i can just get them by annexing Malaysia and Indonesia but i don't want to go war with Japanese as the later declare war on em..
@@hammotimee You can also manage which units are training. Initially, I had to trade for 1 oil, but when the capital ships were trained, I split them off into port and canceled the trade. It was fine from there on out.
@@hammotimee I am trying to invade on the EXACT same day that you do. I have spend literally 7 or more hours following this guide to the letter. I have probably watched your video 6 times and I still cannot invade the UK. They have way too many planes for me to even attempt an airborne landing. It's impossible
Question on the training Panzer division, I duplicate the design and then go to change the tanks to motorized and it says I need 20 experience to change the tank battalions to motorized, however in your video it says there is no cost. Am I doing something wrong of have they made an update that changed this since you made the video?
Ahhh yes, if you have No Step Back, in the officer corps there's a spirit of the army which allows you to change your motorised templates if you've gone down the mobile warfare doctrine! I'm planning to make a video on this 😁
@@hammotimee There was one other thing I have run into... the recruit local agent decision has disappeared meaning when I get to having my 3rd agent i can't recruit a soviet one. Its strange as the second agent I recruited was from the soviet union but now the decision is gone and there is no button to recruit a new agent in the USSR.

@@hammotimee Alright, the next oddity I am getting is I have capitulated Poland however I am not getting the Partitioning of Poland event pop up, the game runs for a few days and Poland turns into German Poland and and the USSR starts to justify against it.
@hammotimee Yes, and you're shying away from that fact by telling people they shouldn't play with a historical flag. History should not be viewed through the contemporary lens, or it will be always misunderstood.
Can you post the full game without any cuts? Ive done everything like you, but i failed to kill the uk and norway and by 1941 the us joined them and i just quit.
@@hammotimeeYESSS! U were right! I'm confused in the beginning you said we're going to take the Rhineland but before we hit play you're going to use the four year plan for the bonus...?
I think what I was trying to say there is to time your focus for the bonuses to be applied to industry and consctruction III, so focuses would be Rhineland > Army > USSR Treaty > Four year plan but it's up to you!
Yeah I messed it up strangely you can't change your mind after you select your focus even though you haven't unpauseed. So I missed out on the big bonus to industry. Two games so far got my teeth kicked in by Europe even with the unholy alliance they were able to ally enough forces together to not only wipe out the full scoped Germany but I even stayed to watch them blitz the Soviets of the map lol. One thing that is really pissing me off about this game.. Italy always attacks Greece. They get their war put in before grease gets backed. But the game still lets grease join the Allies. That's usually what starts the war and I always have to decide am I ready to do this right now and how is this the trigger of world war II... Seriously the whole world is going to fight over Greece knowing that it's already claimed by the axis?! Or in the case of my last game Germany plus Russia.... They don't guarantee their independence they just flat out join the war. It would be different if they let them join the allies and maybe sent them a land lease and volunteers... But to flat out drag the entire alliance into a war with Italy who is in the axis wtf? For Greece??!
Bro I just figured out what I've been doing wrong and losing the game over this whole time. Everything else I was doing right I just wiped the entire game out and put Germany on everything. My problem was I thought I was upgrading my units and sending them more guns and tanks etc when really I was ruining them right in the middle of battle. You would think the soldiers that are there would be happy to receive more troops and more supplies but that's not the case as soon as you click the button that feels like an upgrade they immediately think they're missing everything and collapse into pieces and get Rick rolled from left to right. After I supplied my initial troops I waited till they were either not in battle or I was in peace time and it was insanely easy. Africa is a nightmare... I had to do battles on speed 4 because I thought the game was paused all the time and boy does the Frontline get jacked up in Africa....
