Most definitely!! I'd love to see that man go nuts in Switzerland (or Sweden) or on some gritty grit in the UK. Also really looking forward to next weeks episode!
So glad Yves finally got some exposure! Flying under the radar despite having pound for pound the strongest grip strength in the climbing world is such a waste. He should do a collab with Juji, Megos, or Magnus and really have the world take notice.
Amazing video. Not only is Yves one of the strongest people out there, but he’s one of the most dedicated, inspiring and humble people I know. True legend
I still have a hard understand how Yves isn't more popular. After moving to Squamish from Ottawa where I used to routeset at Coyote, I've witnessed some of the strongest men in Canada climbing in my face. Yet no one was as mind blowing as Yves. You really have to see him climb to truly understand. His strenght and power is beyond imaginable. On top of that, he is a genuinely kind human, always smiling and happy to help. Yves has made FAs in the Gatineau Park that even to this day are unrepeated. I believe he even made the first V13 in Quebec actually, The Heartbreaker in 0+ area in Luskvile. A true inspiritation who can't be compared!!
Is anyone familiar with Tomoki Musha? He can also do a one arm hang on a 6mm edge. You can search for James Dazhong Cook on YT, he has a video featuring some insanely strong climbers which are all not well known.
I met Yves years ago in Ottawa at a friend's party. Didn't know who he was and a friend of mine tricked me into arm wrestling the guy. In short, my bicep was strained for a week, and a friend was made that night.
What about your thumbs? Do you trained them? I saw a French teenage boy on Magnus Midtbo's channel doing pull ups with the board. Even Magnus couldn't hold on to do one pull up.
Yves Gravelle is insanely strong.... little known fact here , he can actually crush rocks with his hands and that's where gravel gets its name 👍☺️....amazing episode 👍👍psyched for part 2
You should tell him about the Rogue Record Breakers at the Arnold Classic Ohio. They often have grip events there, too, where a bunch of people just come in to try and break a couple grip records.
Isn’t Devon Laratt based in Ottawa as well? It may not be his thing, perhaps too far out of his comfort zone but seeing him on a channel with Devon Laratt or Larry wheels would be fun to see. They seem to be into grip strength as well. I think they would be blown away by his pound for pound strength.
Since he coachs the youth team he's always at the gym and will literally give advice on climbing at any level when asked. Awesome dude... and an awesome video.
Great video! Coincidentally there's been another very recent feat of mind blowing strength. It's another RU-vid video that came out two weeks ago on Larry Wheels's channel called "THE GEORGIAN HULK, LEVAN SAGINASHVILI! MIND BLOWING DISPLAY OF STRENGTH!". I highly recommend watching it because the guy in that video is enormously better than everyone else in the sport (as that video demonstrates).
Dude, that was amazing! I have been interested in many other disciplines like power and oly lifting as well as grip sport. Yves training was really inspiring!
I have never heard of World Armlifting? Is he ranked and tested by IronMind? The GripBoard? Diesel Crew? There is a whole grip specific scene, though to me what makes climbers unique is the distal joint strength, mono's, which is totally different.
Wow didn't know you are from Ottawa?! I am also living in Ottawa. Happened to just stumble upon this video. Proud to have someone here in Ottawa so strong! Hoping to meet you someday at that gym.
Loved seeing this. This guy is not only incredibly talented and hard working but also a really great guy. He deserves a lot more exposure. Looking forward to seeing more of him on RU-vid.
There's a V13 climber named Tanner Merkle in my local Dallas climbing gym who's also a grip strength world champ. Natural for climbers to be strong in grip tests!
Khaled Jashell. Guy with incredible pinch strength and best grip for thickbar repping the 104.5kg millennium dumbbell for 5 strict reps, closing coc #3.5. only training grip for 2 months and breaking records that strongmen and grip sport athletes known for their world class grip such as Brian Shaw and Mark Felix cant even replicate. These guys have been training all their lives and even grip athletes trained on these implements for years. And a guy from cameroon who is a mechanic just casually destroys world records without ever being to a gym once in his life or doing any grip specific training. Not to mention his ridiculous natural armwrestling strength, being able to beat UAE and indian champ, showing up to a tournament without knowing anything about armwrestling and coming first, giving world champs like Michael Todd, Kyle Hutchinson, Devon Larrat a hard time. I want to see him try climbing. His finger tendons are naturally super strong. Seen his 45lbs plate curls. Even Vitaly Laletin seemed quite suprised when he was easily doing wrist curls 35lb plate like it was nothing while vitaly looked like he was struggling to hold it up for a few seconds. Vitaly has set the record on the gm150 hand dynomemeter at 148kg but static crush doesn't mean much for other grip implements. Even grippers, as theres guys who can close coc #4 while having lower score on the gm150. Vitaly was only able to close #3.5. He is super strong though and couldn't match Khaled, same with Levan
Wow I didn't know Ottawa was your hometown!! Yves is insanely strong, haven't met him, but saw his feets of strenght on his instagram. Thanks for sharing his story!!
Good stuff right here! This is the reason why I like your channel so much. Your are not only a good climber and show your own performances, but you are also doing presentations of others and don't mind not to be the center of attention. Honestly you are the kind of person I like the most. Humble, kind, talented and passionate . Thanks for sharing another story that very much deserves to be seen.
