And just like that Gin became my favourite captain lmao. The fact that in the Soul Society Arc he was pretending to be a guy who hated Aizen while actually was a follower of Aizen BUT was actually a Aizen hater is some next level play by him. The dedication of him to spend his entire life since his childhood just to maybe, possible, sneak Aizen one day is just awesome. Also his sword has the best name of all, his Shikai is called "God's Spear", which makes sense on the surface because he is a weapon of a god (Aizen). Then his bankai is called "God-killing spear" which makes sense because actually he wanted to kill Aizen all along. There is the theory that shikai represent a soul reaper on the outside and the bankai represents the true form and Gin is a prime example.

From our perspective yes it's just a miscalculation to his big plan, and we're like "why the fu- would you fumble your master plan like this" but we have to take into account Aizen's character traits. He's curious to a fault, even in his past experiments it shows, where he allows a certain leeway to exist to see how things would unfold, for his own entertainment. Even if it's to his detriment. For me I'd never had taken the choices Aizen did that would allow Gin to do his thing, but I'm not like Aizen lol so can't judge what he does based on my own principles. What makes him feel interested and enjoy himself isn't working for everyone

Gin's goal was both to kill Aizen AND to take back the Hogyoku, as it still contains a fragment of Matsumoto's soul. It isn't covered in the anime, but basically he did what Rukia tried to do to save her after she had a piece of her soul ripped out (which is why her powers are dust-based, like his)--this saved her life, but her memories prior to that time were lost, which is why her first memory is waking up to him giving her food when she "passed out due to not eating."

An even bigger factor than Aizen wielding his sword so it could be touched, is that Gin needed to be wielding Kamishini no Yari without giving Aizen any red flags. Gin engaged Ichigo as an excuse to activate his Bankai, and he never sealed his sword after walking away from that fight. Aizen might not even have been aware that Gin was still using Kamishini no Yari and not Shinso.

Now that we are at the Gin reveal, we can look at all of the things that happened along the way. We see how strong Gin is when, in a comedic moment he subdued Kenpachi and dragged him away from Byakua. By pushing Ichigo out of the gate he changed the direction by which the kids entered the Soul Society, making it more difficult for them to be tracked. When he confronted Rukia on the bridge, was he really going to rescue her or not. On the plateau he kept Ishida and Chad out of the conflict by suppressing them with spiritual pressure. Each time Aizen was in conflict and Gin was present, he wasn't getting involved because he was looking for a weakness. Every single step Gin took was to try to stay one step ahead of Aizen.

When gin and rangiku were kids they lived together/in the same area (poor district) and were friends. Gin basically loved rangiku. When you see the flash backs of him watching aizen and that flowing purple stuff which is part of rangikus soul. That's after he saw those guys leaving the area where rangiku loved and he found her on the ground unconscious. He followed them and found Aizen with it. At that moment he swore to kill aizen for doing that to rangiku. For around 110 years he's been scheming and playing the role nearly perfectly (obviously aizen knew what was going on). All that time just to get revenge for what aizen did to rangiku.

Aizen was conducting experiments in hollowfacation to understand how he could transcend both races, he created his own hogiyoku after learning about urraharras cause it could help with his experiments. But his was not equal to urraharras and kept causing the experiments to fail. @chibisphere
@chibisphere Год назад
what fight? Asspull 'mcguffin' verses asspull MC /plot/duex machina. Bleach has no consistent power system, and barely any 'actual' battles. Most fights are predictable formulaic reverse uno table flip scenarios. When things are one sided, thats not really a battle. Its just a spectacle, and Kubo's art and paneling is gorgeous. Essentially its just a bunch of fantastic images played in sequence, and while the art is great, the writing is... well i dont know if id call it writing... the 'storyboarding' is flawed to say the least, albeit there are reasons for that which are not Kubos fault persay. The most amazing part about bleach, imo, is that is exists at all and managed to finish against all odds. Its a cool manga, with a few good ideas and moments, but for every good thing in bleach theres more plotholes, contradictions, or unnecessary asspulls to come with it. TBF, not just tryin to spew hate for the sake of it. I grew up with bleach and own the entire manga. Ive been a fan and have nostalgia and love for the manga and Kubo himself. Ive read his interviews and diatribes and know his personal struggle, and see Kubo as a victim of a lot of issues with the business and way manga is produced, along with his personal struggles plus being one of the few 'successful' long term mangaka that refused to have a consistent team of ppl to help him, as he already struggled with the editorial process and keeping artistic control. Bla bla, point being, i can love kubo and be a 'fan' of bleach, and still be able to see and admit to its flaws, and have some negative takes for that matter. That doesnt mean that people shouldnt like bleach, i love bleach, and i like to point out its flaws too. Im watching reactions to it, afterall... Have to post qualifiers these days to say anything negative about bleach though. Fandoms on average seem quite defensive these days and not willing to critique or admit there could be flaws in their religion or something lol (being hyperbolic obv) This 'conclusion' was rather unpopular when it released back in the day for reasons, and the shifty place the bleach fandom has been in for a decade stems from that.... most critics and fans were quite disappointed with much of how this arc was written, and many, myself included, wished that Kubo had taken a hiatus, as long as necessary, rather than force thru to an unplanned unthought out incomplete ending. This is why we cant have nice things, but im not blaming Kubo. He was under immense pressure from almost every conceivable aspect of his business and personal life for a long time in one of the most unforgiving grueling industries for an artist to work in, and 'mostly' going it alone. In that sense, i appreciate his work still, tho ofc Ill always praise his art and presentation, not so much his writing/storyboarding/plot, as its just plain and simply not his forte. He prefers to speak through his art, and does a great job at that. Unironically, i actually think many segments or aspects of bleach would be much better with less information and less dialogue, as that is where all of bleach's flaws reside. It all came down to a deux machina and there was no 'battle', nor was there any real accomplishment or growth from the main cast. Instead its a never seen or heard of ultra duper secret move that no other zanpakto user will ever mention or use or know about ever again, just for this one time, oh and apparently Ishin has this too lol. Kubo just made that up, definition of asspull, even though there were plenty of viable ways to have a similar but more satisfying conclusion, it just would have required more forethought and/or more chapters. It woulda made more sense if this powerup had been a letzt stil, or... 'zangetsu' giving him his .... (if u know u know). And there were literally people suggesting this back then, BEFORE the current arc. In other words, many manga fans who nerded out on reddit theories were way ahead of and more consistent than Kubo on some things with his own story lol. Me and my friends who talked about bleach over a decade ago had assumed ichigo was (u know if u know) even before this part of the manga (there were some clues early on in the manga, plus, obvious story is obvious). Well.... atleast it came at a cost.... owait... noooo... This doesnt hit a fraction as well as the way HxH did things with nen contracts for example, and had a much more emotional and narrative buildup around the mechanics, all woven together meticulously. Unfair comparison perhaps, one is meticulously storyboarded with years off between arcs or story segments, the other is a weekly release with no time between for anything but drawing the next chapter. Perhaps most disappointing part of this, imo, was Aizen. Every bit of characterization he had from the prior chapters was trashed. That facepalm ichigo did, while it might be hype to kids or people who just wanna see memey cool moments, was basically the end of this arc and its villain, narratively. The character once called aizen vanished and was replaced with a cardboard cutout of the most typical boring elementary kids' cartoon villain, down to every word and action. His IQ drops 200 points, his brain stops working, and no one learned anything in the process. Kubo just loves to expose characters... i get it... but trashing your villain in this particular way makes the conflict moot and all the setup up to now rather ridiculous. Theres no point, no lesson to learn, no real philosophical exploration of characters and motives, no deeper meaning. Ichigo doesnt even have to try he just stands there looking cool while some idiot shouts nonsense that has nothing to do with why this story even happened. And its not because ichigo was really tactical, or intelligent, or that he was good at swordsmanship, or was able to influence others or lead people or inspire ppl. He doesnt have a better or worse resolve, he doesnt have a better or worse plan. He just has a high power level, which wasnt earned nor necessary. Cool story, never seen that before.... Not that the outcome doesnt work, but the devils in the details. This was all just a big masturbatory spectacle with no substance, imo. Does it ruin bleach? Ofc not, bleach was never that deep to begin with. The trigger for this post is clearly a decade old wound resurfacing lol... seeing so many ppl be so positive and biased about these flawed narratives from a fanboy angle, when even the author admits to their worst times, to them being miserable, in over their head, in dire need of a break, ect. I wouldnt be surprised if he was considering suicide at times, given some comments hes made about emotional and mental turmoil. Meanwhile, these niave 'fans' giving it all a thumbs up, green light, saying "yup, thats good stuff, keep it up!" Aside from the issues of the industry, animators and mangaka are infamously poorly treated and compensated until a certain point of success, it also starts to seem like the fandoms of this 'era' are incapable of critical examination or admitting to anything as a negative, even in cases where as a fan, they should be wanting better for the authors and artists, rather than pining for more rushed content to consume. Would you rather your favoreite piece of fiction/art be done by someone suicidally stressed, overworked, underslept, underpaid, and wishing they could quit, or would you prefer they enjoy their lives and have time off to brainstorm and create better work when the time comes? Praising this "fight" or conclusion (whatever u wanna call it) as if its really amazing work is (to me) like saying season 8 Game of Thrones was amazing work (imo). Its lazy rushed asspulls by an artist who was admittingly objectively overextended, stressed beyond imagination, and wanting a fucking break to breathe again... which is fking sad, tragic even imo. And yet, people accepting these scenarios and this system and the work it produces, the horrible conditions for those trying to work within it, and the lackluster results it leads to for some. I for one, as a fan of Kubo, dont see the need to turn my brain off and praise things i see glaring issues with, but rather mourn that he was forced to endure and ruin his own passion. I think bleach could have been something entirely different, not just a typical shoenen but maybe something really different, if Kubo had his way, but it wasnt the case unfortunately.

"You cried out to me you love me... I wonder, Would I still be able to say I love u the same way I do today?" hits very deep... He knew what he did and he knew Rangiku wouldnt stand that fact! If you really think about it had Aizen not fuse with the Hogyoku he would've died by Gin's blade. 23:25 Director came to the same conclusion.

If Aizen had no fused with the Hogyoku he would not have lowered his guard to the point of allowing Gin to touch his sword. Its because of that fusion Gin had a chance in the first place. A gamble that Aizen won.

Old Man zangetsu of course couldn't make a real bankai so when he was making the Fake Zangetsu out of his quincy powers, My head cannon is that he make it a sword with the Ban for Bankai on it.

Nah, Gin and Tosen are radically different. Gin's still a bad dude. He was doing evil stuff for shits and giggles and killing and hurting people even though he didn't really NEED to. EVERYTHING Tousen did was in the service of making the new world he wanted to see. There was a purpose behind everything. He was a true believer in what Aizen wanted to do. For Gin, it's all about Rangiku, but for Tousen, it's about so much more than just his dead friend. I find Tousen far more compelling a character.
@sanjaysanj5603
@sanjaysanj5603 Год назад
wrong tousen was a self centered person, with the what i say and do is right mentality, gin had none of that he knew what was good and what was evil and he knowingly did evil to later on do a greater good.

@gabrieldossantos1116 Год назад
@@romhacher5160 He was a murderer lmao Back in Turn Back the Pendulum we saw him killing shinigamis just to prove himself for Aizen and also he literally just split Hyori in half. Don't get me wrong, I don't think actually enjoyed doing these things, he did it just to get Aizen's trust, but he is still a murderer nontheless. The only diference between him and Tosen is that Tosen actually belived in what he was doing while Gin was always doing it to get Aizen to lower his guard
@romhacher5160
@romhacher5160 Год назад
@@gabrieldossantos1116 I could be wrong but weren’t those soul reapers working for aizen anyway, like I’m pretty sure they’re the one who took rangikus soul and he killed them to get revenge and to prove himself to aizen, and also yea he did f up hyori but he was under disguise and knew she could just get healed anyway, I’m not gonna try and call gin a saint but I would say he’s a pretty good guy all things considered, I assume we’d both call byuakya a good guy and he almost killed renji and tried to kill rukia, gin did a bad thing but it was for a good reason, saying gin killed people for shits and giggles is a major disrespect to his character and blatantly isn’t true, he also fought others for a purpose
@kmgyening
@kmgyening Год назад
As stated in the first reply, Tosen was still self-centered and largely motivated by his own personal vendetta. It's not like he had all of this same energy for anyone else who could have possibly been suffering undue hardship from any corrupt actions of Central 46. It was almost entirely about his friend whom he lost, and getting revenge. And let's not forget, he was willing to sacrifice all of the people in a world that had nothing to do with Central 46 or Soul Society, in order to get the justice he wanted. I personally don't believe Tosen needed to go that route.
