Why does everyone thinks Superman rotated the earth backward? Because he literally did. The scene was never made to be that hard to comprehend. Whoever came up with the concept that it was actually superman's perspective that we are seeing, clearly had too much time on their hand, had zero observation skills and don't know how fast light travel. Superman did not go at the speed of light when he spun the earth backward, a simple research should've already told you that. If Superman merely went back in time, he wouldn't need to spun the earth back into its original rotation afterward. That logic would've imply that Superman went into the future after going back into the past, which would've made no sense. If that wasn't convincing enough, Director Richard Donner himself even confirmed that superman literally spun the earth backward to reverse time. You're probably wondering how that works in a more scientific term? It doesn't. It's a movie so if the director says it work, it works.

The bigger question is... If he could fly that fast in the first place, WHY IN THE HELL COULDN'T HE STOP BOTH NUKES IN TIME? love the movie. It's a classic. But damn, that's some shitty writing.
