This is exactly what I was looking for. I wrote my rough draft using the Save the Cat structure. I bought Romancing the Beat because I really needed assistance in how to arc the romantic subplot. I was really wondering how the two structures can be used together. Thank you.
My novel is supposed to have a sub plot with romantic intrigue, and when I got to my second draft (just now) I’m realizing I didn’t write anything romantic AT ALL. Yeah, I think I need to save this for help in the romance department. Great tips!
Haha! Sometimes those subplots can be well-meant and then we realize we didn’t make progress on them in actual story events. Happens all the time. But it’s good to flag and go in to add that extra layer if you had a romance subplot in mind.
@@createwithmer I have written it before but it was really silly and very awkward. In my books there are love interests but it's really not spoken or touched on. But now that I think about it one relationship does get to the engagement stage. It is meantioned not shown.
