Man I forgot how much I missed this series. The communications in the cockpit alone is showing how much confidence you've developed. Great job @flyingsic. Can't wait for your first landing in the Baron.
The only thing I hate about these videos is that there's so LONG between them! At least it was a nice long half hour of great Kim flying! When you cracked the line about calling ahead to arrange the chaos with the controllers ahead of time, I literally laughed out loud!
Not seen you fly for a bit, so a big step forward is my impression, much more PIC aura which gives you time to listen to the coaching. A tip for Autopilot use is that i always hit the heading bug to synch it before actually hitting the AP button, then reset the direction, in case it is way off to start with. Likewise once i am on a GPS course and flying straight…..as AP will often say “hey, turn left 30 degrees for traffic…..” that way i can hit the HDG button, and then smoothly dial in my change of direction….or on approach, the heading bug becomes a plan B or a go around tool if something happens to the approach/gps at the wrong moment. Great job, you kinda “have this”
Massive improvement in Kims' confidence. Big step with the big CC. That's where you start to learn to be a pilot. Looking forward to the Solo CC! Keep up the awesome work!!!
Happy Thanksgiving to you folks. Don't know when this was, but you flew close to where I live and my home airport. Looking forward to more video's and when you get that check ride.
Great job Kim! It's so much fun to see your skills and confidence build through this journey. Thank you both so much for putting these videos together for us all to enjoy.
your instructor needs the boot. treating your mistakes like they don't matter is dangerous..... but i guess youll find out when you go for your checkride😂
Welcome to the area. Did my solo at Ashland Regional and first cross county solo to Parkersburg. Safe flying and look forward to seeing you get your license
When you where on your approach, you where not centered and that is one of the reason why you landed left of centerline. Also, seemed like it was yawing ( rudders) back and fourth on approach.
Kim, As controversial as Dan Gryder is, I cannot but agree with him with when he advises more “Chat”, like “… Is there any one else in the pattern?” It really lets you know if you’re alone up there or to prepare to change your finals for someone else ahead of you. As I say, he is controversial, but her makes a lot of sense. Think on it, speak to Chris…. Been missing the Baron!
Idk what Dan does or doesn’t say, we actually make callouts like that all the time. Ironically, we actually get chastised for making those type of calls all the time. The videos are edited for time so all radio calls aren’t included.😂
Okay, having watched the rest of the video…. It’s clear Kim has been practicing ALL facets of flight…. I feel like a proud CFI and I’ve done nothing. Kim, you went from nerves-> badass in a matter of a couple months.
Serious question...I've been a ham radio operator since 2000 and have been in fire/ems since 2004, so I have plenty of "on air" time when it comes to radios...why on earth does ATC have to talk so fast?! It's no wonder these young/new pilots get their headings and freqs mixed up. Geesh
Seems like I fly a different bird each time. I always look at the placard when I call out the tail number or I will say the incorrect tail. Also, If I fly a Cessna and than a Piper. I have switched the names up a bit.
Well, well well. It's been quite a while since we hear from u guys. I was already wondering, should I pick one of th latest videos and post a coment asking if Kim was no longer putting that 172 to its paces? O did BP stop flying the amazing Bonanza? Well, thank god no. Good winds and happy landings to you guys (instructor includeded) from Portugal 👍. Oh and by the way, happy 🎅 everybody.

This far along (x-country) ...why is the instructor coaching on pitch attitude and flaps retraction after take-off? He needs to let her think for herself.
