As a 5 year old boy, I was mesmerized when I saw her on my Dad's job. He was a "Mason to the Starts in Beverly Hills", and I went one day to work at her house there. He did a whole 150 ft. long stone wall in her front room/dining room in Beverely Hills complete with a walk in fire place. Most stunning woman, I've ever met. Still remember it to this day - I guess because I was in shock I guess?
When I was 5 my dad brought home a 1933 Packard convertible with a rumble seat. It was stunning. I've loved Packards ever since. I bought a Packard a few years ago and I'm restoring it. I liked Anita Ekberg too.
She was before her time , they didn't know what to do with a woman as beautiful and sexy plus talented as Anita . Now she would have been an icon and appreciated 🌹
If you freeze-frame @ 1:43 mark you will see her claim to fame. The Hollywood pervs wouldn't have paid a flat-chested Ms. Eckberg tt be an extra in the background.
Yeah she often expressed how proud she was of her features and told people they had to accept her as is and wouldnt do any plastic surgery. She aged gracefully, never doing any botox or fillers.
its amazing that given Hollywood being hellbent on women with her "assets", she wasnt in major demand by nearly every studio. she had talent, a figure to rival Jayne Mansfield and Marilyn Monroe, and solid acting behind it. seems a tragic waste of beauty and brains.
@@pabloseykata6930 Somehow I think it might've been due to her lack of fluent English during the early part of her contract. Otherwise I'm sure they would've exploited every opportunity to market her (and her beauty). Let's not forget that she was also competing against other talented beauties, like Doris Day, Grace Kelly, Ingrid Bergman, Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor, Debbie Reynolds, Marilyn Monroe, Lauren Bacall, just to name some
When I was seven in 1953, I saw the movie "Abbott & Costello go to Mars", which had that planet ruled by Amazon women! One of those women 'stuck' in my mind as being gorgeous & I think that it was Anita Ekberg in an early role!/Decades later, I saw unpublished, totally nude photos of her, which showed why she was a 'natural' beauty that others could only wish they were!
They are a sick bunch. Yet some people are still gob smacked with the Vatican. If they only new . But then again some are so stupid . It just like what they voted for to lead their country in America .
Beautiful lady. In those days everyone smoked so much very damaging to skin. But it was fashionable. In the 50's. A lot of Beautiful iconic actresses. Xxx
We were in First year High School and a classmate who looked too Old for his age, was able to enter the movie house and see her film, " La Dolce". We cornered him to Tell us the story of the full movie..gathered around him like the apostles wanting to hear the news of the resurrection.. We have very strict censorship in our country, being a Catholic state.
Her more iconic role was in Boccaccio '70 where she became the gigantic embodiment of milk in a quartet of stories which also included Romy Schnieder and Sophia Loren. Her segment again teamed her up with Fellini.
I really don’t care what the Vatican ever says or declares! I grew up Catholic and was an alter boy but I want nothing to do with any organized religion whatsoever. I still pray almost every day, rarely without fail. Just very discouraged with what the Vatican has become and the decisions and choices it has taken! Anita was one of the most beautiful women in the world in her prime. She will always be in my heart and the Vatican can never change that! Rest In Peace, beautiful lady!!!✝️🙏🙏🙏🙏✝️
3 months ago I discovered the community of Christchurch which is a division of the Church of Latter-day Saints. Peace love joy and hope is the theme this church. I was raised as a Catholic and I found it to be very distasteful. I enthusiastically go to this church of Christ and I never thought I would say that. Everything about the Church of Christ is current and contemporary. There no talk about old Palestinian Shepherds campfire stories and the apostles writing letters to each other about the invasion of the Sumerians.
Vatican had a nerve to take Anita Ekberg through that with all their morals and justices and spiritual that happens in the Catholic she was gorgeous and fabulous no need for apologies for being a God given Gift💯💯👍👍💎🙏🏿💎💯💯💯💯
Always thought along with Raquel Welch, Anita was one of the most gorgeous natural women in the world in the early 60 & 70's. I did know about the Vatican. I'm Roman Catholic and my Priest made me do penance for having seen the film. How he knew, I never figured out.
In her senior years Anita was unrecognizable, and her voice became a harsh croak. The scene in the Trevi fountain was inspired by her actual bath in a fountain at a party some years earlier. Fellini also based her character on Ava Gardner, who following her divorce from Frank Sinatra moved to Madrid and led a wild life. I found this out on a visit to the Eye Museum in Amsterdam, which was running an exhibit on Fellini and included his press clippings.
There is a shot of her in a late Fellini film. She is sitting, in her old age, with Fellini watching the Trevi Fountain scene. That was indeed her supreme moment.
I remember the churches coming down hard on "La Dolce Vita". People sneaked out to see it ' then bragged when they saw it. Thanks for loosening up my memory!
This is the first I've ever heard of this actress. It's kinda sad she didn't make more of an impact on America. Sounds and looks like she would absolutely put today's so called stars to absolute shame!
OLD AND BROKE YOUNG AND RICH BEAUTIFUL AND FAMOUS Reality of growing old and forgotten while your alive. Beautiful story and Video excellent job FACTS VERSE Sad ending but wasting away isn't a great story anyway.. we all grow old and alone basically because all the ones we loved are mostly dead..
I had a big crush on her when I was a boy. She looks an awful lot like Lettice Rowbotham in one of those black and white photos. Lettice looks like quite a few famous beautiful women.
Speaking of Vatican censors, my parents used to get an issue of the Catholic Standard every week. My favorite section was their movie reviews. I knew if a film was rated "C" (condemned) by the paper, it was definitely one to check out.
I LOVED her comedic talents as the giant billboard seductress in the segment of Boccaccio 70! I actually saw an English dubbed version of it late one night and the performance stayed with me forever it seems!!
It's more difficult if you are considered very attractive and you don't have other things going on in your life. If you just depended on that and you are insecure and have little or no confidence, then it would be very difficult.
@@FactsVerse I had heard a lot about this actress but have not watched a single movie of hers. Any English movie you recommend with her in the lead or supporting role?
In 1960 (A.Ekb.), she met with Gianni Agnelli and they had had "one night stand" in a hotel. Given that, Agnelli never locked the door of the room when he was with his mistresses, his sister and a friend arrived unexpectedly to pay him a visit. Anita appeared all of a sudden, half naked and furious and started to shout, chasing the two women out of the room. The day after, instead of reprimanding them, Agnelli said: "It was amazing!"
No I didn't know the Vatican condemned and I don't care. What I do care about is how exciting and sexy she was in La Dolce Vita when I first saw the film. It was a great cinema experience.
Especially when the opening scene depicts "The second coming of Christ" by a statue of him being transported by helicopter to the Vadican for the Pope.
You can say the same thing about: Ann Margaret, Joey Heatheton, Shirley Jones, Raquel Welch, Mae West, Eva Marie Saint, Elke Sommer, Kim Novak. The public and the magazines loved them, but there weren’t any good roles for them.
@@FactsVerse Honestly, I have never seen any of her movies. Prior to watching this video, I did not even know who she was. But I am very impressed with her beauty. Maybe I will watch one of her movies. Any recommendations?
The Vatican condemnation along with LDV included Miracle on 34th St. (1944..Maureen O'Hara played a divorcee!), Disney's Lady and the Tramp (Lady sleeps on double bed with her master and mistress), Peter Pan (Tinkerbell's abbreviated costume) and Fantasia! (Mickey Mouse depicted as a wizard.
as a girl i remember seeing her in zarak the barbarian and wishing i had hair like that. she had an affair with rod taylor. if i looked like that i would have. sad to read she went broke and was often sick.
Now I know why Carol Pope of Canada's Rough Trade included her name in the song "High School Confidential". I thought Ekberg had starred in a movie called "High School Confidential".
She has such beauty. The smoking was the curse to her beauty in her later years. My mother was breathtaking but smoking destroyed her in her later years.. don’t do it
