Great music, great lyrics, from a time long gone, we were all a lot younger then, and more idealistic, i think this marked a time when Weller started to realise the reality of the situation, humanity is basically fucked, driven by greed and selfishness, more interested in whos screwing who than the real issues of the time, wish he'd come back but he's long gone, still a great song, lots of memories.

As i listen to this today, a 50 yr old man with more than his fair share of singular adventures behind me, I can't help but think....fuck me too late to the XTC party. Yes I agree his music after his first solo album lost all of its soul. It became this American rock crap, when he had a great American Brit Soul thing with the Style Council. It was great.
Steve White never joined them for this album he was made redundant for a drum machine, dc lee was heavily pregnant and when you did see her she was hidden behind a piano.
Exactly re: steve's comments about Jo Jo. He quotes anonymous others as saying she was not that good. the anonymous others would presumably be those working in the studio with her. I find the number and similarity of comments about her to be quite revealing in itself.
You can tell this is lip synced as you can here Dee's parts in the song but she is nowhere to be seen singing at all. Plus, from what I read, the woman playing the drums, was supposed to be a really poor drummer compared to Steve White. On a side note, the blonde dancing in the background behind the woman in the white outfit, is really kind of hot.
