I think you're almost right. I would say in 8-10 years it will be very popular with younger drivers wanting a fun car. I know I'll be getting one when used prices are in my favour!
Solution: Slap a turbo on this for ~300HP and finally give the WRX a new engine making ~450HP so it can be competitive again. Why won't they do it. Both cars are unpowered.
I dont think that's true cause they could've asked for more money and besides this is a limited production. Seems like they made a bad decision with this car.
8:36 Doug: Why do Sports Cars have no cup holders??? Subaru: I got you bro Doug: This sports car has 4 cup holders which seems *overkill* if... You wanna hold *4 CUPS* Subaru: ಠ_ಠ ???
@@bonk4017 But 2 isn't really enough... My wife and I like to each have a bottle of water in the car at all times, but then each have another drink as well. 4 is the perfect number!
Yeah guys, 4 are just perfect because in my country at least we usually get a coffee on the go and a water bottle for free, so if you are 2 people inside you are gonna already use all 4 of them.
I have a BRZ and it's literally the best car I've ever driven and I'm so happy with it. People dont understand. Power does NOT equal driving satisfaction
@@digitalsmithy still loving mine, had mine for 7 years. When using it as a daily, I average about 38 mpg. When at the track it is an amazing handling car. Does really well!
The guys saying this is a girl’s car are the same type of guys that drive a lifted truck as a daily and have a 3rd gen camaro on blocks in the yard 😂😂🤷🏼♂️
This comment section is the first place I've seen people lobbing that accusation against this car. I sort of can understand why people say that regarding roadsters like the Miata [not that I agree with it] but this? No, its not. Are they making that accusation simply because of the lack of power [implying more power == more manly] or is it something with the aesthetic of the car?
Even in a basically stock frs, it's an absolute blast to scare my friends with how well it handles with decent tires. These cars are fantastic platforms even if it is "slow."
The third cup holder is so your dad can put a paper cup with water in while you make deliveries. Subaru noted the need for this. The fourth only makes sense if someone needed both a hot and a cold drink.
Like most car reviewers I think Doug's perceptions are warped by driving exotic/super cars that have a ton of HP. In my mind if you're driving on public roads you can't make use of a super powerful engine. There's a reason the Miata sells so well, you just don't need more power than that if you're driving on 55-65 mph speed limited highways.
They could come out with BRZ GT, GT-R, Limited Edition, Si-R, super duper, to the 1000th power, and it would have $50,000.00 brakes, golden seats, 30-inch central screen, $100,000.00 stereo system, and so forth... and it would still have only 205 horsepower.
Car Guy: The Miata wasn't suppose to have a lot of power! It's about driving experience! **The same car guy literally two minutes later** Car Guy: The BRZ/FR-S/GT86 needs more power!
mike that’s exactly what I need to hear! I’m choosing to wait a little bit longer to pull the trigger on one, but it’s 100% my next car. What happened to your first?
Was gonna say the same thing lol. Guess it is Doug, and this is RU-vid so hes only amateur. This is the guy that calls obvious things "Easter Eggs" lmao!
@@histlechif4901 a simple UEL header will fix the torque dip and boost its power. People just hate on it because they don't really get to go on mountains or track to truly enjoy the vehicle.
As someone who owns a BRZ Limited in Automatic, the button between the Traction off and Traction off Track on switches is a little rocker switch that has a "sport mode" where the car will rev higher before shifting and a "snow" mode where the car gets reigned in more by the transmission (as far as I can tell, I haven't gotten to use it too much yet). And before anyone asks, I got it in automatic because it's a daily driver and if I want to have fun I switch it into manual mode and slap around the shift paddles.
I watched this before and I thought it wouldn't be much different from the limited trim, but hell. This car is SOOOOOOOO much fun compared to the limited trim. The amount of stuff you can do from stock is incomparable to the limited trim which is obvious BUT brz ts was so much better than my expectation! So glad I got this car. I thought it would be little boring to move on from rotary engine, but I was totally wrong. I'm in love with this car.
0-60 under 7 seconds and just under 15 seconds for the 1/4 was pretty typical acceleration for early 60s Corvettes and XKEs. I'd love to have one but the BRZ is far more practical way to get a similar driving experience.
The coolant cold light is from the Crosstrek, and other brands' economy cars like the Yaris and Fit. Instead of a separate coolant temp gauge, its cheaper to put coolant cold and overheat lights.
My ND Miata has a blue temperature gauge warning light at start-up, too. It’s not just on this Subie. I almost bought a BRZ a few years ago. Test drove a couple and really liked it. But I’m glad I waited and bought my ND Miata. (An ‘18, w/155 hp, not a ‘19 w/181 hp.) I bought a GT, so with some body roll it probably doesn’t handle as well as one of the upscale BRZs, but I’d contend it’s just more fun to daily drive, especially with the top down.
Got my 2020 BRZ manual in Pearl White w/ the Performance Package (kinda close to the Ceramic White of the TS) and with the crackle red aluminum intake manifold and red Brembos it really looks trick out of the factory. I find it has the perfect amount of power to help you not get hurt or arrested considering this thing handles like its on rails around corners and is a pretty much a street legal go kart that makes anyone feel like Mario Andretti. Won't win any drag races, but that doesn't require any skill at all, just a large bank account. Love my BRZ. The poor man's Porsche Cayman.
It's not just the "200 hp" figure that the problem....it's the power delivery. The torque dip right when you need it around 3,500 RPM is just the WORST!!! As soon as you're at 5,000 RPM it does sort of go, but it's just not enough :/
I feel you man, I have had one for a year and I’m already thinking of what to do to fix it. The dip is an easy-ish fix with a different exhaust and a tune at about 1500$ (ugh), but the power is pricy. The different exhaust would help the power a little though
I currently have the JDL catless UEL headers, MagnaFlow Catback exhaust, and the OFT stage 2 tune. The dip is gone and the torque curve feels pretty linear, but the power band is still not enough for my daily driving needs. I don't want to be at 5,500 RPM to be in the GD powerband.... Eventually I'm looking to go with the Edelbrock supercharger kit way down the road, but for now while I'm paying the car off I want the JDL high flow cat overpipe/midpipe combo, Perrin 3" big MAF intake, and Delicious tuning bluetooth FlexFuel kit. I think that will maybe be enough to keep me satiated for now...still so much money for so little gain, but once you go forced induction you can really take advantage of these modifications! I'm not going to go FI until the car is paid off though because tragedy happens with these motors man...people chuck rods on stock NA platforms haha
everyone complains about the power, but i, as a customer i always wanted to have a sportscar with not too much power. And BRZ or GT86 definitely fits what i needed! If i want to go fast, I have my motorcycle - easily can beat any sportscar anyway lol but i am lacking the comfort on long journeys and i dont want to have ford kia or Q3 as well as it does not fit my preferences... I am really looking to get BRZ or GT86, but after watching this video i am confident to say that i wont buy tS models. It is always more fun to do mods yourself !
After watching a lot of Doug’s videos I’ve realised that the way he describes things varies on the car and more so its price. Like in this car, how you can choose how long the reverse camera stays on, he makes fun of it for being “over configurable” but if he were sitting in a Bugatti and that was a feature he’d say “now that... is attention to detail”
Don't think I'll ever get tired of the styling. One thing I noticed on the tS is the lack of fog lights. Gotta have my fog lights, lol. I drive a BRZ, and I love it, but Doug is absolutely right, it needs more power. Plenty of people have done expensive mods, but the average person simply can't afford all of that nonsense. I'd love to get +100 HP on my BRZ, but it's not a priority.
I love this car and I can't wait to get an 86 and me and my friends are only about 5'7 and we all fit in the back seats so I don't have any issues with sports cars small back seats!
Kostas Bezaitis it’s because they know young people are stupid and only see things for their visually aesthetic. Looks fast and cool? Must be fast and cool.
