Sugar is a real drug. I have detoxed from it several times with the following withdrawal symptoms: headache, fatigue, brain fog, anger, irritability. I have relapsed so many times as the cravings are always there.
They will eventually go away, or at least be reduced to a minimum. You should notice effect after only 4 days. After 3 weeks, you probably won't crave it unless somethign triggers you. If you can stay of for 4-6 months, not even your favorite treat will seems tempting even if lying straight in front of you. Getting 4-6 months withouth sugar in todays society isn't easy though.
Way to go! I gave up sugar for my 4th pregnancy and lost 40 pounds! Once I delivered the baby and started eating again, I gained a pound per week for a year! Ugh.
Drink a glass of water every time you feel the craving. If you tell yourself you can have it after you finish the glass of water, you'll find that many times you don't want it after that. Also - eat lots more protein & a bit more fat. I managed to cure my addiction after a year of daily making myself finish a protein & greens drink before I ate anything else.
Yes, I watched a few documentaries about sugar recently and they all say that sugar is detrimental to health and quality of living. The problem is that we consume too much added sugar and we don't always realise it. It's present in all packaged foods that seemingly look "healthy". There are some packaged foods that don't have added sugar but you have hunt around for them. They are not easy to find. The daily allowance of added sugar is 6 tsps for women and 9 tsps for men. 1 TSP of sugar= 4g. However the average American consumes 24tsps of added sugar daily. They also consume a lot of added sugar and calories from soda and other soft drinks. Experts warn that this kind of consumption of sugar will eventually lead to all of the chronic diseases like cardiovascular disease, obesity, diabetes, fatty liver, insulin resistance, etc. If we are ever to combat the problem of obesity and all these diseases, people MUST drastically cut back on added sugar. The government has to take initiatives and schools should raise awareness of the health complications that can arise and teach children about nutrition. The Japanese school children are taught about nutrition and the role of foods in keeping them healthy, that way they develop healthy eating habits from an early age and they become accustomed to eating real foods rather than processed foods.
I took a walk down the cereal aisle in walmart yesterday. Virtually every cereal box I picked up and looked at contained added sugar in various amounts. This "food" has been marketed to children for decades.
Don’t trust those granola bars and energy bars either, they are just sugar in different clothing. Eat real food, even if it means you have to spend more time in the kitchen. Your body will appreciate it.
When I was a kid in the 70s the standard/recommended breakfast was a big bowl of breakfast cereal with milk and sugar and fruit on top, toast, a tall glass of orange juice, etc. all starchy and sugary things.
🤣🤣🤣🤣 I can well believe it! That industry has ZERO morals. They're now targeting the developing world as there are fewer restrictions than in the west.....
Well, using that logic, whiskey is mostly water😁. Woohoo! Drink whiskey instead of water. 🤔No drink rum! That way get your sugar and booze and of course, the healthy water 😁.
A fact to those who are still thinking sugar is needed for our body. There is no essential carbohydrate for our body but our body need some glucose. Our Liver will make enough glucose for our body needs.
The problem is most of society is very sedentary. Active people with low glycogen reserves don't have a problem eating sugar because it's burned immediately, it's never stored and converted to fat.
Agree. I stopped sugar almost 5 years ago. I even now find a lot of veggies are too sweet to eat. Even certain fish, such as tuna, has a little sweetness to it. Amazing how your taste buds picks that up when you stop consuming sugar (all sweeteners and fruit).
Not the isle with veggies and fruit. And the frozen stuff section. I don't know the US prices, but I buy a kilo ~ 2 pounds of frozen organic broccoli for 2,50€ and 500 gramm of organic frozen strawberries for 3 Euro. 500 gram of organic spelt for 1,80€, which can be eaten like rice but has more protein and wayyy more other nutrients. And the list goes on. It just takes time to educate yourself about healthy food and how to prepare tasty meals. By the way I eat plant based. Meat from stock farming is loadet with stuff I don't want in my body and organic meat is crazy expensive. I am lean and super healthy. Okay, I am just 21 but I will stay healthy for the rest of my life, at least I won't get a food related disease.
The obesity epidemic is so sad and infuriating. It's even happening to my own little brother now. He's only 14 and he stuffs himself and my mom won't make him stop. I'm an adult with my own life and home to worry about so I can't be on his case 24/7, not to mention it strains our relationship as siblings for me to always be acting like the mom.
Teach him to cook. Start small. Teach him about food diseases. (RU-vid is my go to.) teach him how to calculate sugar. Not all at once, just over time. Finally, he needs a sport. Boys especially need a sport or exercise regime.

Exactly! The food companies know how to make us want and crave their products. They just add a lot of sugar and put labels which have health claims such as "healthy choice" or "one of your five a day" and even "low sugars". However you should not be fooled by these labels. Always read the ingredients and check the nutrition info.
I start change what i consume. I’m more like to consume pure mineral water than sugary drink. it is a little thing but it really influences your health
The traffic light system is the best thing, hands down - it helps highlight the choices you are making. The more transparency there is, the more control we have over our choices.
I've been off sugar for years. Some one gave me a 90% dark chocolate bar and now that's my go to treat. Very little sugar. Not sweet, just bitter and rich.
@@BelimaiSykes I went off sugar (and flour) a few years ago for 6 months and it was good - but I relapsed because I wanted to have fun and eat sugar. After 6 months eating processed foods, my weight was back up to where it had been before. Now I'm back on the no-sugar wagon (and no flour, and no sweeteners). I found out the link between sugar and dementia (that is, between metabolic syndrome and dementia) and I think that knowledge is going to be enough to keep me away from the stuff. I don't crave it at all, and I did before. Everything is trending in a healthy direction but I am impatient; I would like to see more accounts of people who have been off sugar for a long time, find out how that went for them, just as encouragement.

I'm getting older and my body's tolerance of sugar and carbohydrates has become considerably reduced. I avoid just about anything with very much sugar or carbs (including carrots would you believe, one of the worst offenders) and I feel better and I've lost weight.
Carrots and bananas might not be perfect nutrition, but they are only a tiny part of a much greater problem. If everyone swapped their sugary drinks, junk food and cereals for carrots and bananas, I believe there would be a huge increase in health.

refined sugar can lead to multiple organ failure over time like eyes, kidney, etc. indirectly knee/joint pain, heart, etc. due to obesity which itself is caused by high calorie intake due to sugar intake.
I’m lucky I grew up disliking processed foods with high fat and sugar like chocolate and burgers, made the permanent transition of non-strict plant-based meals a lot easier. I’m fascinated and disgusted with how industries and capitalism control our lives through consumerism and advertising
Well done for avoiding sugar and processed junk foods during your childhood. I wish I could've been the same. Still it's not to late to stop eating sugary junk. I'm going to be 20 in January. I already have a balanced healthy diet. I don't drink sugary soft drinks (Only non flavored, plain water and tea). But I need to avoid sweets and added sugars in packaged foods.
I eat vegan and only self prepared meals. No sugar needet. It takes time to get used to high quality ingredients with natural taste. I cooked a goant pot of pumpkin-leek-carrot soup with a lot of garlic, chilli and some ginger. Brewers yeat to noost the taste and add protein and vitamins. Someone who eats at Fast Food chains and eats a lot of processed food wouldn't like it. I on the other hand couldn't eat a vegan Domino's pizza, processed food has a weird metallic side taste and is always too sweat.

They tell you that drugs, alcohol, and coffee are bad for you. Illegal. Yet sugar isn't regulated. They don't mind. You go to a doctor. He doesn't mind prescribing you more drugs. Instead of advising you on a proper diet. I understand that most people won't, but what about those who will/want to
I watch this kind of video just to get angry.... here in Brazil, it is unbeliveable the amount of children that are wayyyyy overweight. No regulations whatsoever. And now, to make things worst, the mass midia/companies are empowering overweight ppl to assume their fat body (which is nice), BUT without talking and taking in consideration harms and dangerous of a non healthy body.
Food and medical industries have an incentive toward profit. Sugar sells, and poor health also sells. So it’s a win-win for both of them. The medical industry doesn’t care about our health. It’s all about money!
Don't depend too much on regulation because the food industry will simply buy off your politicians or cabinet secretaries. Share this video and other videos showing how unhealthy sugar is, spread the word. Word of mouth is the best weapon against this type of cartel. Remember the Type 2 Diabetes and Obesity epidemic started with the regulation against fats and the craze for low fat foods.
Here is the states when kids get off the bus I can’t believe how fat they are. When I was growing up the fat person was the exception. Also, just look at pictures from the 70’s and how slender people were… now look at the average photo of a street scene and people are so much heavier.
Just follow the money. Who is bought by the sugar industry? Most likely every single currently serving career politiican in the world is bought and sold like cattle by the sugar industry. Industries themselves write a lot of laws that are then passed onto bought and paid for politiicians to sponsor and make into law. In the US the buying of politicians is endemic. The surpreme court not so long ago removed all restraints on political "donations". Money = free speech. The flood gates to buying laws that the rest of us have to follow was opened. The whole sugar industry is sick. They put sugar into everything you buy. The only way to get around consuming too much sugar now, is to not buy any processed food at all. None. Sugar is packed into nearly every single item on the shelves in supermarkets. Whether the product or recipe calls for sugar is irellevant. It is put in there for reasons pointed out in this documentary. Why are career politicians even allowed to sit on the very boards they are supposed to regulate against? Follow the money. Ive made a few choices this year. Less sugar, no more nicotine, less caffeine and less processed foods. So far so good.
19:35…I just love that woman and how she is clearly not intimidated by anyone certainly not the doctor or the director of nutrition (which I find ridiculous) from Kraft!
I love how food company experts and biased scientists (who know better) are so morally corrupted by big sugar. No straight answers! These food company reps are so ethically weak or blatantly ignorant, diffecult to decide which. Makes me wonder what these guys allow their children to eat.
Don't cut everything at once, ur body won't adapt that fast. Try to change one habbit at a time and go from there. @@x.y.7385 while yes carbs are made up of glucose it is essential to provide energy to your body to survive, sure when there is nothing else it is possible to metabolise fat or protein for energy it is inefficient and prevents those nutrients preforming their primary functions
Im shocked at how much rubbish goes into food distributed to the USA in comparison to the UK. All our food has far fewer ingredients and we have banned a lot of substances that are still being sold in the US.
Sadly the UK has too many obese people too. Europe has more strict laws for food ingridients, but the people here are getting more fat and unhealthy every year. But the US food is a different beast. I spend a holiday there. Everything is oversalted and too sweet if not homecooked by a pretty sane aunt.
It's awful how difficult it can be to find (not to mention afford!) healthy food that isn't full of GMOs or sugar here in the US..The fact that GOOD natural/organic foods are either outrageously priced or almost impossible to get access to says just how much our government is corrupted and beyond dysfunctional.. money is all the people in charge care about..we're nothing more than chattel to them.. things that are ACTUALLY healthy, good or helpful for us are usually banned, while things that are toxic, deadly or harmful to us is perfectly legal and is even being constantly pushed in our faces on a daily basis.. we're all at a loss for what to do short of a revolutionary uprising that would most certainly cause countless lives to be lost on both sides..the treachery here knows no bounds..
Im shocked at how little I, an objectively more impactful person on account of being born in America, care about the opinions of other country’s peoples 😂.
I was trying to think of any prepared food company that does not include sugar, but all I could think of were ingredients companies like Mortons salt, etc. Because of that I thought of the opposite: What does not include processed sugar: plants.
It’s not even real sugar anymore it’s high fructose corn syrup! In everything! The corporations have gone totally psychopath, cannibal predators! I’m lucky that I was raised on real food and plenty of veggies but that may well be a rarity these days.
when it comes to processed sugar, yes you're right. But there isn't much of a difference between processed sugar and any other kind of sugar when it comes to the processes in our body. Some fruits contain a lot of sugar, so people still need to be careful about over-consuming those.
The greed, dishonesty and hypocrisy of human beings is a fatal flaw. It will cause us to be wiped off the face of this planet without any doubt. As has been prophesied by every religion ever through history. Maybe 100 years, maybe a thousand but we won’t survive ourselves without changing this selfish childishness.
They are not exactly the same sugar. Both natural and added sugar consist of glucose and fructose, while carbohydrates (starches) from rice and potatoes are glucose and small amount of fiber. The worst thing about natural and added sugar is they contain fructose which can only be metabolized by the liver first before your body can utilize them and too much fructose will fk up your liver. Rice and potatoes are better than sugar (sucrose), but definitely not in large portion recommended by governments.
What about them?! Yes, those in proper meals and satiate your need for sugary snacks every 5 minutes. That'll go a huge way to curbing your sugar cravings.
If you eat more of those starchy foods than you need, your body will convert the glucose from the starch into fructose, via an enzyme pathway called the polyol pathway. (It's two enzymes that convert glucose to sorbitol and then sorbitol to fructose.) The same thing happens with drinking alcohol.
Pasta, bread, oats and cereal are essentially just sugar too. Its good that you avoid added sugar but still eating those starchy foods defeats the point of it.
There is a agreement between food industry and big pharma. The food industry provides clients for big pharma. And because they have the same big shareholders they get rich and rich3s. Its economics and greed
Me too! I was actually a full on vegan for 10 years switched to keto and intermittent fasting this past Oct I don't crave anything bad . Love eggs and steak and there are all kinds of food we can have on keto. ✌️
i just did 4,5 days of keto with under 5g of sugar a day. I was thinking so slowly and feel so bad I had to eat a proper meal and now I feel better. It's hard for me to believe that keto is the solution. Edit. I know that I was experiencing the keto flu. But it didn't seem worth it. I think that if the body is showing so many cues of resistance, it must be for a reason. If carbs were designed to be the first energy source and fat the one in last resort, it must be proof that it should remain like that. I didn't lose a single gram during these 5 days. Not even water weight. I even managed to gain half a kilo... It had all my faith in it but I couldn't even finish my sentences. I was the slowest minded I've ever been. I think that a low carbs diet makes more sense than an almost zero carb diet like keto.

People have a hard time believing that something “natural” like sugar, something our bodies need for energy, could be harmful. Especially after a lifetime of marketing and conditioning to believe sugar is good. Who didn’t have sugary cereal for breakfast when they were kids? This is a century-plus old problem.
Sugar should be Schedule I illegal!!!! I’ve had several substance addictions and coming off Sugar 10x harder than illegal drugs! The 3 legal drugs sugar/cigarettes( nicotine), alcohol are the hardest addictions to beat out of any drug!
We all know that sugar is bad for us and sugary drinks lead to obesity. We shouldn’t need special labelling to keep us from making bad choices either. What we do in my home is try to eat foods that we call single ingredient foods. For example we will have a piece of meat with some seasoning and with that we will have a vegetable or two all of which is prepared in our kitchen. Nothing from a bag or box either. So basically no processed foods and low carbs but high protein with natural fats and vegetables for fibre and nutrients. Combine that with a fair amount of exercise plus lifting weights. For exercise we choose things that are fun to do without considering the health benefits. We take walks, ride bicycles, play basketball, go swimming and in general anything that gets us moving. We avoid processed foods of all kinds so to eliminate high fructose corn syrup from our diet and we don’t keep sugar in the house. We drink water, milk, tea, coffee and no soft drinks of any kind. If we crave carbonation we will have mineral water such as peligrino or gerilsteiner
“We all know sugar is bad for us” No WE DON’T ALL KNOW - obviously. If “we all knew” don’t you think some of us would make better choices? We are being lied to constantly by the food industry, advertising agencies and government food guidelines. There’s too much money on the line, and they’re all colluding together to push addictive foods onto the general public, while minimizing the risks. It’s the same as what happened with big tobacco. The sugar industry got the same lawyers and ‘experts’ that worked for tobacco. Someone has to warn the people. We can’t just assume people will figure it out for themselves, when advertising is 100% focused on us not knowing the truth.
@@kensurrency2564 I see the "we all know" argument a lot. Most people do realize that sugar is not a health food, it's just that most people think it's very mildly unhealthy or something you should just vaguely pay attention to, and don't really understand the process of how it tears your pancreas and other internal organs apart. You're also advocating for the "nanny state" if you're anti-sugar, while Big Sugar pumps huge money into lobbying and advertising and gets sugar into 80% of more of grocery store foods. Which side is really doing more to control what people eat?
