We apologize for some muted areas in the beginning (starts at 3 mins ends at 4:19) as RU-vid thought the music was ran too long. What was everyone's reaction to The Suicide Squad? What character really stood out? We thought John Cena crushed it as Peacemaker.
@@BaddMedicine its alright, I'm like blind and thought it was Rick Flagg at the end credit scene at first and my girlfriend thought I was crazy.... damn John cena.
Ion know about all that. She was amazing but I personally was blown away by the characters so she was probably 3rd on my list (just and opinion) because bloodsport and flag are some respectable mothef*ckers
@@miromaynigo amen, they could have fleshed him out more but I feel that’s the point. I feel like they definitely did him justice. If it was the OG suicide squad they would have ruined him
What was really good about this movie was that it reduced Harley Quinn's sexual appeal and increased its destructive power. At the same time, it was also really good that other characters distributed their abilities well so that they didn't look insignificant. It was literally "suicide squad".
In the extended universe Starro really wasn't evil, he just wanted to travel and observe the stars, he was pretty harmless and will only attacked if provoked. But that all changed when he met the astronauts from the US, who captured him and experimented on him. The Thinker tortured him and abused him on a daily basis for 30 years straight. When he was freed, he was SO driven with hatred and rage for humanity for what they had made him go through, and so he takes his anger out on Corto Maltese and the citizens there. I could not help but symphathized with him there.
I love how we finally got a Suicide Squad movie that shows us how much the government doesn't care and how common it is for the members of the team to bite the dust
I like how bloodsport relationships with his daughter is different from deadshot relationships with his daughter. Deadshot cares about his daughter while bloodsport doesn't want anything to do with his daughter, that's a clever way to show how different they are.
I feel like James Gunn might have underestimated just how much people would warm up to Polka-Dot Man... Still hoping that all that inter-dimensional energy in his body might bring him back somehow!
polkadot man my BELOVED, i was so genuinely upset when he died flag's death managed to fill me with both sadness and the deep urge to punch peacemaker in the face. it was so effective!! ik the whole point of the suicide squad is that they die on missions but i really would've liked to see more of them, so, uh, if DC ever wants to make any alternate-universe polkadot man movies... i'd be 100% down lmao
He mentions that he had siblings, some of which survived. It would be interesting to see some of them in the future. Even if maybe just as a brief appearance maybe at his funeral.
The beginning squad was comprised of people that Waller wanted dead, so she tricked Blackgaurd into selling out the squad and getting them killed, Rick Flag was apparently put on the first team because he insulted her shirt one day.
I really like every character in the main squad. Bloodsport is badass with the way he took out peacemaker. King shark is just a sweet guy doing his best.
"when James Gunn went to DC and said 'I want to make the villain of the movie a starfish', what do you think they said?" ...well that starfish is the first villain the Justice League ever fought, and one of DC's most iconic villains, so....
@@BaddMedicine well, DC's weirdest villains are rapidly getting snatched up by the Doom Patrol show...but there's no end to the obscure oddities in comics
Well its not really a surprised because Flagg dead follow the comics If there any guy who takes his position, it could be his Jr. (If Joel flagg is Sr.)
@@BaddMedicine through all the years of the suicide squad Title run between 80s and 90s Rick was the heart and soul of the team. That's why I'm so piss off that James killed him.
if you guys remember the police station from birds of prey, Harley doesnt see violence and gore bc of her mental health. flowers paint butterflies are all in her head
I'm a lover of rats and I've always had them, but the image of the rats keeping them warm even made me squirmish. Only because I know how often and randomly they pee and poo. You'd wake up drenched. Lol
Taking C class characters and putting them together is just a really good idea to expand the universe. While a lot of characters die it isn’t that important because they aren’t highly used or liked. Really enjoyed it probably about a 8 out of 10 for me.
When the chick said his heart was still beating in the end credits I was praying that it was Flagg...But it definitely was on purpose, James Gunn loves to fuck with our heart strings
@@BaddMedicine I saw it in theaters. However it was in a small town(I live in Bulgaria) So the crowd was a grand total of 6 people :( I really believe this movie deserves more but Covid. The movie is however well received and will probably produce some good HBO max numbers so they get Gunn to do more stuff. Now i am about to watch it again at home.
Ahhh. Good point. Yeah, maybe Gunn can bring DC back up to a competitive level with Marvel. I would like to see what he could do with a few more movies.
@@BaddMedicine Although Flag and Bloodsport were actual friends, they served together in the past, its why Waller wanted Bloodsport, because Flag recommended him.
Why r people upset when James Gunn killed characters? It’s called the suicide squad for fux sake. Not the everybody lives after this dangerous mission..if u want them to live watch the Justice league.
Might be that everyone had some expectation to see more? Or just an attachment from the comic. We sure didn't expect a couple of characters to go that quick in the beginning. It was funny. But also didn't expect it.
They weren’t really enemies to begin with for them to not be believed as friends, Flag and bloodsport were already friends and besides them all laughing when polka dot man had his first drink they were off doing their own thing. Peacemaker and bloodsport had a moment of trash talk when getting the drinks and that was their only interaction
This is a 5/5 for me. I'm not really a big comic fan, but I do love action and comedy mixed together. James Gunn did an incredible job with this movie, and so did the whole cast. This isn't one of those movies where violence wasn't used mindlessly; excessive violence turns me off and makes me feel kinda weird afterwards, but this movie has a way of making it epic everytime because it was timed and used right. The dialogue is hilarious and the characters grew on me. This is a must-see for any action fan. I watched it thrice already, and still had a good laugh!!!
One of the things that I really love abt this movie is that it gives us an insight into Harley's mind. The birds and flowers coming out of the soldiers instead of blood is how she sees killing/death. She doesn't see it as this gruesome thing, but something fun, happy, and pretty, and she thinks she's bringing it to them. It's how she copes with it. So when we come out of her mindset (or if the building and back to the other characters and plot) we're back to seeing the world from the other's perspective.
Can you imagine a post-pandemic "Marvel vs DC" movie? Imagine the ensemble cast, the production cost and the return on something like that. Now that the multiverse is a thing, it's not outside the realm of possibility!
They wasn't really at each others throats though, only Bloodsport and Peacemaker were. King Shark was mainly hungry, Ratcatcher 2 was just quite and sleepy and Polkadot was also equally quite.
@@BaddMedicine at one moment i thought that harley took a piece of javelins soul when she was fighting with soldiers in the palace using his javelin. The stunts she did is what i would expect from him. Wasted character, much better than all of the others from squad 2
(The Suicide Squad/Deadpool 2): The leader of the team (Rick Flag/Deadpool) calls them (Task Force-X/X-Force) then they all get killed after they jump out of a plane except for the leader (Rick Flag/Deadpool) and his female sidekick with white face paint (Harley Quinn/Domino). And to top it off each scene had a helicopter propeller death. That is the most blatant scene theft in the history of film. Also.. when Waller's team was betting on who was going to die.. that's known as a "Deadpool".
@@BaddMedicine thanks. it hit me because it felt way too familiar. And now that I think about it.. it might have been an intentional choice by Gunn to reference the old school debate among fans of DC & Marvel over who stole what "X-Team" from who. He does work for both companies.
I reckon they could bring flag back too if they really wanted to. Unlikely but stranger things have happened. Too bad he’s gone (for now?) Also they did say they will have James Gunn whenever they want him. And Gunn did want this movie to be a suicide squad vs superman film and also said if DC make the sequel, he will happily do it
Going back through the vault. Missed this one. I don't hate thus as much as I thought I would. Wish they had been able to flesh out the characters more. No doubt the reaction will be top notch. Or else... (Slams martini on table angrily) "Father will hear about this!!"
Regarding the "we wanted Nathan Fillion to work with James Gunn ever since Firefly". Nathan Fillion has worked with him already since, including the 2 Guardian's of the Galaxy films. In the first one, he voiced the big blue alien in the prison that threatened to "assault" Starlord before groot grabbed him. In the second, during the scenes where the stuff Ego left on earth was destroying everything, Nathan Fillion filmed scenes where he was saving people from the destruction. James Gunn was hinting that this character was in fact Wonder man, but marvel had everything taken out saying that they have no intention of bringing that character to life.
IDRIS ELBA,VIOLA DAVIS,JOHN CENA AND POLKA DOT MAN were great standouts for me. "I cherish peace with all my heart. I dont care how many Men,Women and Children i have to kill to get it." 😂😂 dead
Didn’t know that in non-Spanish-speaking countries the subtitles were stylized, when I watched the movie they just didn’t show subtitles for the Spanish dialogue
Avengers won endgame because of rat.and suicide squad won the battle because of rats🤣 however i love ratcatcher.she was my favorite.what a great movie.and you three guys doing excellent job.i subscribed this chanal today.keep up the good work buddy.love from sri lanka 🇱🇰 ❤️
or as they called it in the reaction "Mystery Van" haha. Someone else mentioned that James Gunn directed Scooby Doo and that might have been a little call out to it.
That was my fault for letting the clip go longer. Appreciate the watch & the comment. Apologies if it interrupted the experience. We will get better at it 🤙👍
Am I the only one that's ok with all of the deaths in this movie? lol I feel like the only reason why people trash this film is because they feel some type of way about some of these characters deaths and just completely forget about everything else
The deaths were ok. I think it was people wanting to see the actors a little more and see what they would have the characters do. After watching it over, it was great.
Lol as if the Ayer cut would be any better than the garbage we saw. He shot the whole movie. It's all his work. It's garbage. This one was LEAGUES better.
I felt that it's been years a comic book film that doesn't felt "corporate" it was refreshing. Came out of the theatre felt like I just watched a movie. Not a DC or a MCU film if you know what I mean.
@@BaddMedicine I agree. It reminded me of The dark knight. Didn't came out and say "yeah that is great DC movie" it was "That is a great film" and you can see the directors fingerprints all over. Hope they just scrap the whole marvel formula.
@@BaddMedicine I think I get what Scorcese said about marvel. It's sad to see people so used to the Marvel formula, like dissapointed with the film. And I get it. They grew up with marvels form of narrative cinema.
Not sure I see eye to eye with him though. He typically puts out great movies. But it's all the studios fault. 1000's of scripts per week pass through and they all choose to do remakes instead of building franchises.
I love that anytime I see Amanda Waller she’s just a hard ass I hate her so much 😂such a good character tho she is the worst, the Starfish once controlled the Justice league in the cartoon it was crazy & if you wanna know more about the Suicide squad check out some the the DC animated movies they explain about lots of different characters and it is called Suicide Squad so I expect most of them to die
I am happy because our ieb true God king shark lived! (I love boomerang so I am pretty mad he died, but also happy because it showed no one (exept harley) was safe. I just wished they killed him later on
As someone said on the comments from a week ago, the movie is liteally "Don't get to attached...", BUT.... Even if I wanted PolkaDot-Man.. or at least, Rick Flagg to live... I'd would TOTALLY give this movie... a #4,5/5 really... It's like a live-action version of the "Suicide Squad", an amazing cast!! (Not the CRAP #WB sold us with the first one...) The only thing why I'm taing points... is because of the STAR-CRUSH they did.. Bringing BIG/HUGE names in credits: Nathan Fillion, Silveser Stallone, Michael Rooker, etc) just to get us to go to the movies... At least, to me, it was a big WIN... Just to get them killed or just as voice... Kind of: "Great strategy!!" / "I hate you so much, James Gunn!!" sort of thinking... LOL
@@BaddMedicine in the Suicide Squad comics from the 80s a lot of Firestorm villains were always killed during the mission cause the writer John Ostrander also wrote the Firestorm comic & hated the villains he created. Slipknot from the first SS movie was a Firestorm villain & Weasel was another. John Ostrander really hated those characters.
