I agree with Lola, copying the book turns to be boring in so many cases. Having the basic characteristics from the book and adding more scenes and action makes the show better and its fun to have extra “scenes” for those who read/watch both
It’s gonna be interesting to see what changes they’ll bring in season 2. I hope we get more of an actual relationship between Belly and Conrad than what was portrayed in the second book.
I think it's great the change they've made because conrad was so hermetic about his feelings and thoughts in the first book that I didn't know if he was interested in her or just playing around. But in the show you can see how he cares for her by those secret glances and the tension they build. I just hope that they show more of conrads and bellies relationship than in the books cause in the book it's just flashbacks and moments there and then, so i got the feeling that it was too rushed or that they weren't truly dating and then she jumped straight to jere. They can do the other way around first date jeremiah and show them together and then conrad... idk it's just my opinion.
Hoping for next season will explore more of Conrad either his pov or bella’s pov but just more on Conrad coz eventho it will end as we expected the books doesnt share enough about Conrad and Belly
That last episode tho💀💀 I knew it I know how shows work it’s always the unexpected but also expected because I knew it 😂😭 also can I be in the next season 🤨🤨😂
OH YEAH FIRST I WAS TEAM CONRAD AND THEN TEAM JERIMIAH NOW I CANT DECIDE I THINK JONRAD HAHA BOTHH CANT DECIDE! jeremiah is so sweet (also 🥵) he’s so kind hearted and can show emotions and so kind words can’t explain! Conrad is just so 🥵 to haha but he’s also kind and is kind! he can be very kind next minute he’s very like “hard to read”-drunk belly
I watched a TikTok edit of this interview and when Chris said he sees Conrad going to mars I thought he said bars, was like “I mean I guess that’s suitable for his charter”.
I wish the show social media acct would promote team jellyfish just a lil they all team Conrad like it’s the first season they should promote both ships
The series was great but they did alter it alot like so much is different from the books not just actions but characters the most changes were in Conrad in the books he was suuuper closed off but in the show he was sensitive and his relationship with belly moved fast he never admitted his feelings to her in the books they had a huge fight with jere wen she tried to comfront Conrad and his mother found out they know about her cancer this ball thing never existed in the books it's a little weird.
even small things like how belly’s been in love w Conrad since she was a kid wasn’t shown really. Like u really can’t tell she was in love w him at all
I agree BUT i honestly think the show is better, the book had me at least, pulling teeth trying to get ANYTHING from conrad and i love that the show gave us what we needed and what we wanted, I don’t hate that they changed alot since the first book was really just the back story of belly being in love with conrad they needed to add more to make it a show.
Yeah they made Conrad a lot more social and open which is the opposite of what he is he sits in his room doesn't like to go out much just playing with his guitar and also laurelle in the books she's closed off too she's much tuffer and doesn't show much emotion they made her this heartwarming goofball which is not bad but not like the book.
The biggest difference is that both boys knew that their mother is sick in the book and there was such a huge difference in how each of them acted about it. Conrad attacked Jere when he wanted to talk about it with him and then when their mom found out that they knew, he run away and got super drunk. While Jeremiah tried to pretend everything is alright for his mother. It really showed the contrast between their personality. I need to admit that I liked Conrad's character in the series way more.
@@G-grandma_Army yes I mean no spoilers he does make an oops I don’t agree with later in the books but team Jeremiah for life I mean I can’t help it I am drawn to people with Jeremiah’s energy and always have been plus I am always on the team of the person who is better for the growth of the main character and in this case that is 100% Jeremiah
Really? The book was VERY unique. It was realistic, Conrad was kinda a bad person but belly still loved him and eventually she learns he’s an awful guy. She’s a user he’s a user and that’s real life. The show tried to make them into cookie cutter Netflix romcom characters
You know why this is super ironic? The show and book were written by Jenny. She was directly involved in the process of writing, so she just made the changes she probably wanted to, as she grew. The books came out so long ago, I'm sure as a writer she herself grew too, and wanted to change things so this is kinda cool to see.
