Poor tim. The fear in you both, but you both kept as calm as you could. I get why tim said he can't go home, frightened that he would take them home. Sorry you both had to deal with that. Xxx

You acted appropriately. My partner did not realize that he brought bedbugs from a hotel until a few days back home .It was a costly mess to deal with .

I usually find these vlogs relaxing but this one made me really anxious. Was awful to hear Tim sound so stressed. 😢

That was horrific, not the vlog, your experience. Tim did what he had to to keep your home bug free so I'd still consider trying for compensation for things you lost such as hair dryer, cot, clothes etc. An email won't cost you anything and you have the video evidence.

So sorry you all had this distressing experience. But you did absolutely the right thing leaving without staying! And putting in the complaint & getting a refund. Thank goodness there wasn't bedbugs in transit & you can put that experience behind you now. Thanks to both you & Tim for making us all aware of one of the worst case scenario's of a Caravan Holiday..

This was just horrid. Thank you for posting this video because through your experience, we are all the more wiser. To be fair to The Sun, this disgrace of a caravan is the fault of the holiday park. So, I have learnt to not even consider go to this holiday park, if they cannot keep a minimally acceptable level of cleanliness.

Since watching a video years ago on checking hotel rooms for bed bugs I always now check mattresses, headboards, luggage racks, bedside drawers any soft furnishings cause they could be anywhere.

I always travel with plastic disposable cups for this very reason, you never know how clean the provides ones are 😢

Having worked in the passed cleaning on a holiday park, I can tell that unit was never leaned before you arrived and they could have done more to fix the issue once you reported it. After watching both yours and Tim's videos there was a lot of red flags for why it was wrong to have stayed, ill not point them out as you should have a good idea. The main room looks like the only room used and the fact thumps had been bit makes me think he had the bug and it may have woke him. After learning how these bugs spread you did the right thing in clearing out and leaving everything. I would push for a refund as it was meant to vacant for you to stay in, the other 1000+ guests showed up later. I don't believe that was a non pet unit and you was lied to.

Good vlog Gaby I will have to let my brother know of your situation because he takes his three kids to Clacton sometimes to a caravan park just so he can check out everything when he gets there to be on the safe side never seen Tim so stressed for he has gonna start crying at one point

Poor yous, especially Tim, you could hear the panic and fear in his voice. I hope that the holiday park didn't let out that caravan again until it had been fumigated. I haven't had a holiday/break in over 20 years and this has made me not want one even more now. The thought of sleeping in a bed that many other people have slept in revolts me 🤢

I have had to clean my floors after watching this, think I might just change my bed as well, lol. x

See you say you cannot blame the holiday camp and you would go on another Sun holiday, I personally wouldn't unless I hear about the better reputation these holidays have, which what I hear aren't that good, so I rather just pay full or realistic discounted prices, instead of the really cheap types or false cheap types like this. Did say on Tim's video think Sun should really be more realistic with prices etc, not promote them as £10.00 holidays when they aren't that, thats really bad clickbait. Need to give honest amount and also go for more camp resorts that have better reputations for being clean, have better professional reputations. You say the camp site can't be blamed, I think different in my opinion, think they deserved to be blamed as a lot of them cover their own tracks, cut corners. Think they simply don't clean their accommodation properly, cut corners when cleaning by cleaning certain bits of their accommodation instead of doing a full deep clean like they should be doing. I think usually they would got completely away with it, but on this occasion they were caught out by yourselves, who were there reviewing the services they offer. They mucked up, they deserve it and hopefully have learn't from it. Everyone 100% deserves to go and stay in a clean, tidy and nicely presented accommodation whether its on a camp site, holiday park or a hotel, but no one even when paying should stay in and experience what you experienced, that is morally wrong and out of order. Yes, they did try and give it a clean, but again they didn't, they didn't still do it properly, should of checked around and made certain there weren't loads of bugs in mattress or better yet had mattresses on stand by for replacement. To replace in case has holes in it, but no, not acceptable, people deserve better than that, they were to blame the campsite and so were the Sun. But nice vlog, cheers for showing your somewhat in the beginning positive vlog and sad at how it ended. Cheers for sharing. 😀👍 (Sorry for the long paragraph)

Well, the opening sequence of Thumps was great! Not far away from opening doors himself! Truly a ghastly experience with the ants and bugs. I can understand it putting you off a caravan holiday in the future. As you mentioned in Tim's video, time can be a great healer.

Went to the Orchards caravan park last month (may 2024) and they've got notices in the caravan warning about ant invasion ..my problem was the neighnours wio loudly partied up to 4am every night..the singing to music started at 3am..when i went to the reception the lady looked to the heavens dismissively before i could even explain..no caravans available to transfer to..yeah likely story

I now have a new phobia 🦟🐜🪳😱 What a horrendous experience. I know the main focus on yours and Tim's video was the bed bugs, and rightly so. But I also sympathise with you Gaby. As a fellow asthmatic who is allergic to furry things, I have been caught out in pubs, restaurants and other public places where pets have been sitting on carpets and soft furnishings. As a family, many of us are allergic to dogs, cats, horses, etc. And, whilst not many people sit with a horse on their lap whilst enjoying a Sunday roast, many people bring their dogs these days. I know how uncomfortable you will feel, Gaby, as you sit with streaming puffy eyes, dry throat, struggling to breathe and eventually a general feeling of exhaustion. So finding pet hairs in a pet-free caravan must have been a major concern for you. When making a reservation for a table, I now ask in advance if I can sit on a plastic or wooden chair without a cushion. Sadly, I've had to avoid a couple of lovely, cosy English country pubs because of my allergies. Keep up the great videos. Good fun and very informative!!

I'm so glad I've found someone who has a irrational fear of bedbugs... I got bit by something the other night.. Cue days of thinking I had bedbugs.. Dr comfirmed it was Nat bites.. The amount of times I stripped bed to cheak mattress was unreal.. Ever since I was a kid an that. Night night don't let the bedbugs bite.. I took literally 😂 thank u Tim.. I don't feel alone no more

My Husband and I have been watching Tim for the last 6 months. It's our chill time together. When I watched this video and you showed the bed bug I jumped up and ran to tell my Husband I'm watching the video where the bed bug incident happened! LOL. I totally understand Tim's phobia of bed bugs! Our girls brought them home from summer camp years ago and it was SO expensive to rid of them! Y'all made the right call not to take anything home!

Sorry to hear about your situation, my wife and I went through a similar situation, in Australia 10 years ago, long story short, booked a motel, when going to bed, I spotted a small mouse in the room, it came from the mattress, my wife never see it lucky, we freaked out, checked internet, booked a better hotel, 11pm that night, packed car dove off, had better time in the new hotel, So I can relate to your issue. I think I will be checking the bed now every time I stay away from home. I’m like Tim I can get very anxious and panicky with things like that. Bed Bugs are my worst nightmare

The state of that carpet then the ants I'd of been long gone asked to be moved weve done a few sun holidays in the past thankfully without a problem we once stayed at seashore that had ants so they moved us poor tim I'd be the same love to you all xx

Poor Tim sound so stressed you both did the right thing going home that ant infestation was awful all over the work tops and floors it was bad the state of the carpet as for the bed bugs not good at all I would of done the same thing left my stuff behind

You don't normally think of bed bugs where you go to stay but this was an experience to forget. The videos you and Tim do are really honest and accurate. Well done to all of you.

Such a distressing experience for you both and so hard hearing tim so distressed but you was lucky you had transport to leave. You done so well trying to keep tim calm. You could have both said nothing happened but you was honest and said what happened in reality. Really anxious watch but know I've done sun holiday's before only 1 was a disaster and i had to leave soon as the bus was running again.

We had an ant infestation in Cornwall once...despite several treatments they were still running riot throughout the caravan. It was distressing to hear Tim so anxious Gaby. It's just awful when you have a phobia about something & your rational thoughts just disappear. Well done you for keeping calm under the circumstances. I've done just what you did though & gone home the same night...our site was near to Clacton too (I wonder if it was the same site?)... but it wasn't bedbugs that were the problem, it was a bunch of youths causing havoc smoking dope & fighting. Stayed 3 hours and decided it was better to just drive home instead. Sun holidays are very hit and miss. Some good & some not good at all...x J x

I think Eastenders is such a good way to open the vlog. Lol! Oh my, that must have been such a big nightmare, bless Casper. Yes you wouldn't even think it happen today when you went home in that cafe, as happened in the morning at night time. I am off to Jersey tomorrow and haven't start packing yet when typing this message out, will let you know how my experience with Jersey goes.

You and Tim have been unlucky, never had problems with haven, I was told that they do have dog friendly caravans,but you could still get fleas and like nats they always bite me, they must like my blood, they never touch my partner. I would go mad if I'd seen the ants, they make my skin crawl!, all creepy crawlies do!

Will be checking beds etc for any stays we have now! Ew! We always take our own cutlery, crockery, pots, pans and kettle on local camp trips. , and they stay in our boxes 😆 When it’s up to patrons to wash up, you never know how clean anything is, or how clean the cupboards are.

Not the Sun's fault its the campsites cleaners.and Essex camps all seem to be dirty.this must be old as the sun holidays start today sat 8 Jul 23.

I would have squashed it and threw it away in the sink or dustbin. Our ancestors lived in jungles and forests during the Stone Age, and their biggest concern weren’t small bugs but lions and dangerous animals . It shows how we have become since then 😮

Gabby that’s not a dog smell that’s bed bugs they smell like a wet dog like a Stahl smell when I worked in the Hilton yr ago you new were bedbugs were with the smell then we had to gut the room spay it with bedbug killer And leave it for a week Tim at risk of bedbugs all the time 90% of hotels av bugs that’s a fact .the ant thing is wrong all they have to do is put a bit of ant killer down and they will disappear In 24 hours .glad ya ok hope Tim’s ok with his BUG PTSD Have a Top week big up Thumps 🙂🧳🎥✌️
