Sun Scorpio Moon Libra Rising Leo ... Going thru it , 3rd nodal return was exact this past week , and definitely experiencing the summer retrograde themes via my artistic expression creating textures and style using resin. Something from nothing ❤
Sun and rising Aquarius 0/19 respectively 12 house, moon Libra 0 conjunct Jupiter house 7 ( placidus) said bye bye to Saturn and saying again again hello Pluto!
This was a phenomenal podcast- Chani rocks and Chris your podcasts just keep evolving. You’re setting the bar higher and higher in professional and fun presentations. Engaging, informative and interesting I can’t believe how fast 2 hours flies by.
“If you want to do good in the world, go home and love your family” I always took this quote as a way of saying, in order to be of services to other/world, we must take care of our “main house”/“family/self”
Sun in the 8th here. Definitely an introvert and literally work with death and taxes. Thank goodness for my Leo ascendant that lightens it all up!😊 Great chat guys!! Thank you for all the insight.
Aquarius Rising♒️ Sun Pisces♓️ Moon Pisces♓️ A deeply sensitive soul Who is a forward thinker and lives outside the box in every way imaginable. So, perfect! Thank you for more insights and wisdom, much appreciated. 😃🙏♒️♓️♓️☮️💜🌎
My husband has a Capricorn Moon in the 2nd house and he LOVES making spreadsheets. We use the spreadsheets but he loves MAKING them. This episode made me realize this is a reflection of the CAP/cardinal nature of his Moon. He takes care of his body by going for a run every day, and then inputting it on his spreadsheet. My Moon is in the 4th house, Pisces. I take care of my body by sitting at home (4th house) on my solar Taurus tuchus and doing spiritual stuff (Pisces), pulling a Tarot card, meditating on it... and then entering it on the spreadsheet that my husband made for me, because he loves making spreadsheets!
Happy to see Chani finally on the podcast! Chris & Chani vibe well together - loved listening to this. You both articulated the basics of astrology well, which is a good teaching for us astrologers on how to explain astrology better to folks so thank you.
My boyfriend told me that he was born at 9:30 am (from his mom) and my original birth chart for him was Gemini rising. I just felt it wasn't right and I asked him to look for his birth certificate. He found it and he was actually born at 9:10 am and his ascendant is Taurus rising. So twenty minutes made a huge difference. We are both Taurus rising,
It's such a shame that wokeness has crept into astrology discourse. Finding the terms "masculine" and "feminine" problematic as symbolic interpretations is hilarious when taken in the greater context of all of the analogies used when describing astrology and all of its multitudinous characteristics. Especially when people's gender identity is disproportionately (99. 9%>.01%)aligned with their biological sex at birth, it just feels so silly to throw out really useful, relatable, age old and archetypal metaphors to appease and pander to such a small percentage of people. Great episode regardless, but the elephant in the room is pretty hard to ignore and takes away from the overall effectiveness of the interpretation and analysis of these three major parts of astrology. I've Pluto on my ascendant in Scorpio opposing Mars in Taurus in my 7th, so I'm an iconolast at the best of times...but I feel this needed to be said.
I completely agree with you. The fact that Chani is so reluctant to use the words mother and woman is strange and, to my taste, ridiculous. And that Chris followed her on this upset me a bit. I have Pluto on my first house square both Sun and Venus, truth should not be silenced.
👍 Libra rising, Moon conjunct Pluto and Rahu in my Dark House Virgo (my mother's Sun sign), Sun in Pisces opposing Moon, Pluto and Rahu. Chiron in Pisces also opposing Moon, Pluto and Rahu; conjunct Ketu. I find wokeness irritating for its bull-headed blindness and had to not listen to this channel for several months.

I completely agree with you! Astrology is a timeless science that should not be corrupted by ideological possession.
I actually think Chani is the person who made me delve into my whole chart beyond my Sun sign? Because she has always posted her Horoscopes as "Aries and Aries Rising" and encouraged people to read their rising if they know it? And once I came across that I was like "wait, what's this.." and learned my rising and moon sign. And then everything else, and then all the houses.. so yeah, she is definitely the one who.. unlocked the whole sky for me. lmao
Sooooo many good examples of sign/house placements and how it colors the complexities of one's personality! My favorite was the Leo rising with the sun in Capricorn in the 6th house. One of my favorite public figures is a podcast host and a musician. She's so loud and bold like a Leo rising (podcast host, musician) but she also spent a year on a farm doing hard farm work, and advocates for oppressed groups and loves volunteering and helping others (capricorn sun in 6th house).
I’m listening now and so moved by the wisdom of the moment we’re born. I am a Pisces sun and moon with an Aries ascendant. I also have Pisces in Mars, Mercury, Saturn, Chiron, and Juno(!) which deserves that exclamation point 😮😂😵💫
Chris probably missed it, the first lawsuit was won in Europe for the gay and lesbian community to break away and found it’s own non profit organization which is likely going to be a trend here now that it’s clear gay marriage is at risk. That was at the very beginning of Venus in retrograde. The astrological system I’ll be using, it’s necessary to use gender. I still need to finish it, actually. I’m actually glad this was uploaded today to remind me I still didn’t finish it. (Mutable ascendant). The way gender will be dealt with is is.. I’ll use my own. Natal virgo ascendant is feminine, its masculine expression is gemini. I plan to revisit all of the astrology podcast sign episodes to specifically pinpoint the ascensional conjunctions because I remember some from memory. Meaning, sometimes the ascensional conjunctions are described within the signs and contrary in others but still in the signification while there being instances brought up where they’re separated. I just backed away to memorize the system, but the full “sign interactions” were put off until later. Even though gender will be used, it’s actually mixed spectrum/non binary. Taurus seeming “Saturnian” would be a tie to Aquarius, virgo making “great editors and assistants etc” is libra. It’ll be wildly varied for obvious reasons. Never underestimate the power of visuals, so I won’t even try to type it out. I don’t mean any offense: 100,000’s people have died in Ukraine and possibly 1,000’s in Maui. Talks of children being burned alive in cars being held by their mother has me equally saying if we are privileged enough to whine about gender we probably need to learn to get over ourselves. More recently.. I discovered there are archetypes for the elements that can be used with the signs. The Aos Sí as air, the Undine as water for example. The sign sympathy system also allows descriptions of soul uniting with spirit and allows Plato’s theory of forms to be used to describe elemental traits among other things. If planets are the outcome, they all symbolize a trauma as trauma is defined as the outcome. Gabor Maté: “The meaning of the word "trauma," in its Greek origin, is "wound." Whether we realize it or not, it is our woundedness, or how we cope with it, that dictates much of our behavior, shapes our social habits, and informs our ways of thinking about the world. It can even determine whether or not we are capable of rational thought at all in matters of the greatest importance to our lives. For many of us, it rears its head in our closest partnerships, causing all kinds of relational mischief.” To me, the reason predictive and psychological/personality astrology works is you’re shaped by your experiences. The chart is the natives “umwelt”. I definitely plan to use the lot of spirit much more (obviously, correct birth time is vital). If the pattern I’m seeing is right (it’d need a significant amount of testing) is the daimon “description” will include the sect light AND its triplicity lords. Sadly, from what books I’ve been reading, I can include myself in the references and it’s matching. I’m a Saturn 1st, Saturn in superior square to Neptune so I’m more annoyed by it than “woohoo”. It makes sense, the lot is derived from the sect light which determines a house topic and ruler “outcome”. The reason sun/moon and lot of spirit significations being similar is (possibly) just in that they are bound together that way. All of that could make sense in terms of methods used for finding “eminence” and planets behaving differently. To me, it’s more informative to say.. virgo ascendant, it gets its cue from taurus (9th house) which has an ascensional conjunction with libra which is the masculine expression of taurus and virgo has a masculine gemini expression (10th). From reading these other books, I think there’s a blending of supernatural/spiritual astrology mixed with modern materialist astrology that needs broken apart. I’d attribute Anamnesis with the 12th house. The Allegory of the Cave as an example. You can use the soul entering the body as a prison of the soul and the limitations of senses as the shadows on the cave wall. The chart is too symbolic of creative energy to drop its symbolic meaning. Life is born from the sensations of electricity (fire) of nerves that produce a liquid (semen/water) to another body (earth) that produces an egg (earth) fertilized by blood (water) which is amphibious until it breathes air to begin life (your birth time). After Chris had the Venus retrograde, I discovered many people charged the myths of the goddess saying it was oppressors that made up fertility goddesses as propaganda to oppress.. I’m over this whole thing. I think most people are and sick of having their sympathies and empathy taken advantage of. 😂
Somehow Chani has not come through to me in this same way through her social media. I was absolutely blown away by her presence and knowledge here. I guess that’s just the nature of social media, isn’t it.
I have the opposite problem. I have something that I really want to do and I work in it a lot, but I dont see it in my chart in any way. So I dont know.
Ive often wondered about the pre-birth hours thing...my mother had a very tramatic almost 70 hr labor. We both almost died. Aries Sun/6th House Also in 6th- Mercury, Saturn, Venus Rx, Chiron, North Node...6 placements in 6th house...Born on the 6th day of the month. 666 on the Holiest Day- Easter Sunday Baby! 😂 Sag Moon/2nd House/Gibbious (Mars too) Scorpio Risisng (Neptune) Night Baby And quite honestly...I am OVER all those 6th house placements themes!
I have wondered a long time about this. It can be challenging to get a deep understanding of the foundational flow that our our Sun, rising sign and Moon reveals. What I came to is the Sun is the essential self. As a water sign Sun sign, it feels like my private way of being. The rising feels like the part of us that intersects with the world. The emphasis of which appears our patterns of being in day to day experience. I have heard it referred to as our mask. It seems like more than that. How you appear is the not just a social construct. It is your physical self, your patterns in living , and what you are drawn to. Our Moon seems like our instincts. How we feel and how we perceive what can feel about the the mysterious within us . How we function psychologically. Our perception of the hidden world, operur ancestry the deeply emotional aspects of how we connect in relationships. I appreciate taking this deeper dive in this video. Thanks.
🌞♓🌛♍⬆️♊ Triple mutable & eclipse native, I constantly struggle with my identity, but don't mind so much as long as I feel like I'm growing and becoming a better person. I have to know everything...and feel everything😅 I think my Sun is a pretty strong placement: ♓🌞 conjunct North Node & Pallas, 10th house, top of the chart exactly square AC. But I i always feel like I "dont know what to do with it". Jupiter ♉12H near AC, with Mars nearby, opposite Pluto ♏6H. Uranus and Saturn-Neptune ♑8H. Lots of accidents...of all sorts😅🥲 Thank you both for taking the time to cover these interesting details! My Rising & Moon ♊✨♍ feel a lot more comfortable to me, like I can see their funtion and purpose and the skills they offer. I can totally see the difference between my rising vs sun vs moon. After binging, like, everything on this channel lol I can see how each is expressed, how each influences the person I am overall. Learning about my rising sign ♊ vs my Sun sign ♓ was like cracking a code, I IMMEDIATELY identified, and same with with Moon♍, they all explained and clarified so much!!!
Chani and I both use whole sign houses, so I think that is a great way to start, while also leaving room to still study other approaches and see how they change how you view your chart.
I didn't know anything about Chani, but she's great! She explains things the best she can and really teaches us what she has in mind eloquently. Great guest!
Fab show, thank you! Sag ASC, Leo Sun and Moon in the 9th here - and yet an introvert. However, with chart ruler Jup also in my 9th, it is no wonder there is a definite focus on all things international in my life (and also some astrology ;))
Aquarius Sun 2 ° Aquarius Rising, Chiron 5° Mercury's 11°, Ceres 19°Aquarius, Venus 7° Pisces in First House. Moon 6° Gemini in the 4th. Have to communicate personal truth of honouring our Earth and how she nourishes us despite our destructiveness and lack of respect. Leading the Green Party of Manitoba! Thank you both !
As a beginner and someone who is dyslexic, I just realized that the rising and “east” part of the astrology chart is opposite one would think of where the “east” would be if you are looking at a North aligned map. So in essence, for my brain, it helps to think of the chart being drawn when someone is born and you draw it south facing.
im a virgo sun but aqua rising (and gemini moon but thats not important to the story) and i wished my friend, an aquarius, happy birthday and he said "thanks, you too!" and i was like "no" and he was like "omg i could have sworn you were an aquarius" and i told him i would change my birthday for him but i thought about that after learning i was an aquarius rising and thought it was funny. also last time i told someone im aqua rising she said "no wonder you're so weird!" lol
Wonderful discussion! Thank you both for the insights. Some of the ideas you mentioned kickstarted some answers to questions I've been struggling with. I especially appreciated the Sun-Moon Teams discussion. For instance, how can stalwart ♑, ruled by old man Saturn, be a feminine sign? Cuz it's on Team Moon! Cold, earthy, karmic, introspective, and emotional. When asked, "What's your sign?" I have never been able to say, "I'm a Capricorn." There's so much more to it! (Full Moon above the horizon for instance.) 🔹Sun in 🐐 🔹Moon in 🦀 🔹Rising Sign in "bouncy" 🏹 So, when are you guys going to do a couple of hours on houses? 😉 A lot of what you discussed (eg: House of the Bad Daimon, the Ruling Planet's house, and placement of the "luminaries") really acted more as enticing tidbits rather than satisfying morsels.
Virgo my midheaven, Capricorn, 2nd, Taurus 5th, other than THAT, I'm an air head!!! Not 2 earth sign but my astrologer looked at me like I was crazy..... Pointed out that me being in finance is where I should be. Go figure!!!
I found out about Chani's work in early 2017. I would never have been into astrology if it wasn't for someone like her, making it accessible and poetic and, more importantly, with a queer feminist perspective. Also, with her horoscopes based on the rising sign, astrology seemed to "work" at last 🙂 I followed some of Chani's courses. Then, when it was time for a more theoretical framework, i found out about the astrology podcast. I binge watched it and a whole world opened up. I'm a virgo rising, sun in gemini. I have the moon + Mercury in taurus in the 9th. I remember when uranus ingressed in taurus in 2018, I became fascinated by Chani's teaching. That's when I really got into astrology 🙂 A big 9th house transit with the right tools 🙂💜
Very well said about Saturn connections to the moon natally. I have the trine exact with moon♋️/saturn♏️ at 9* … I definitely do that whole … DO something, consistently, about and involving self-care to FEEL OK about where im at in my self-care journey. ❤ That’s definitely how i work it.
Leo rising with the Sun in the 8th and the Moon directly across from my Asc. People only see me when my wife puts me on her instagram story, I'm a hardcore introvert and I work from home drawing fantasy creatures. I'd say that tracks 😂
I am so grateful for the 3 guidelines for learning astrology. How my understanding of the difficult aspects in my chart isn't static, that it will evolve through time and wisdom. turns my doom gloom fears "fate" into something more. . .
I'm Leo rising with the Sun in Capricorn, and I will tell you. My personality is pure Leo, this is who I am every day and feel best. But I am very good at work, maintaining work-life balance and self-improvement, especially related to personal growth (not always work-stuff)
Love both of you guys. CHANI opened the door for me to Astrology and I love her app, and Chris has so much great insights with his research, I watch his channel daily. Thank you both!
Hi! Cancer/Sun Libra/ASC Virgo/Moon here. My sun is in the 10th house, cusping Leo and Mercury. I always said if I talked to a professional astrologist, I would ask “Why am I constantly in conflict with myself?”One moment I need to be around people, I need to be out. The next moment I want to hide away in my home for 3 months and not need that. I’ve worked in tech and video games, and now I work in beauty as a hairstylist. And now I’m planning to go back to get my undergrad for law. I feel like I’m a constantly revolving door of paradoxes. I’m harsh, than I’m sweet. I go from overindulging into things to not wanting anything to do with that. I’m an ENFP, and if you subscribe to the cusps, I am a cancer Leo cusp. So I always chalked it up to those things, plus ADHD. let’s also add the ruler of my rising is in the 9th house, so Venus and mars placed in the 9th. So I feel like I’m destined to constantly search for a deeper kind of fulfillment, always looking to reinvent myself. Reinvent society. Constant disappointment that lives within excited passion. I hate conflict, yet love to debate world issues with anyone and everyone to the point I’ve accidentally offended people and than can’t figure out how to confront the person I’ve offended. I don’t speak up when it matters in the real world- like in my job- but yet I can speak up for others
Great episode! Idk if I missed it but did Chani share her birth chart/Sun, Moon, and Rising Sign? I'm so curious what it is 😁 If anyone knows feel free to respond to my comment with it 😁
I've now often fornulated that: Rising ↗️ is the patty in the 🍔: the meat of it, Sun 🌞 is the bun, Moon 🌙 is the spread, the rest are various condiments, take your pick! The Midheaven is the 10th house bring-home-the 🥓 and the North Node is the 🧀 on top! (Mercury & Venus are pickles and 🍅 and some of the outer planets, along with the rest, are that lettuce that slides the whole thing away....Mars is the jalapeño 🌶!)
I'm a Capricorn sun, Leo rising with a Sagittarius moon. Everything Chani said about needing the Leo expression alongside fulfilling work with lots of room for growth is me to a T. I can push through grueling work to get to a place where I teach others or work on projects, but if I'm not making the upward progress, I'm leaving. 😅
Thank you, the birth story was very cool. I just learned that I was born with Leo rising (father's sun sign) and Cancer in my 12th house (mother's sun sign). I am a beginner, but that really struck me.
Sun in Leo ♌️ Moon in Cancer ♋️ Rising in Libra ♎️ I like it.. 2 luminaries in domicile and the balance between their representation in my persona through venus-ruled ascendant. Both Sun and Venus are in 10th Leo, Moon conjunct Midheaven in Cancer in the 9th.… Sun/Moon/Venus vibe is very strong. 🌹
Ps… Binary concepts are used in astrological and human philosophical perspectives since we conceptualized those things. The 1 the 2 and the 10’000 things. Being born male or female is not a hindrance…its a basic reality to help you have a foundation to grow all those 10,000 things or perspectives from… its not the negation of those 10,000 things… but its not also negating the basics to identify with the 10’000 things (or conceptualized gender possibilities) … Think of the health and sanity of humanity…human philosophy and astrology did … i mean im just saying. People seem to have a hard time being decent people….no matter what they were born or identify with… so clearly … 10,000 genders havent fixed the human problem of self-acceptance with what you are given.
@@Are_WeThereYet I used whole house- I’ve got the same houses and combo as you but it deviated from there(Venus is combust in Leo);different time/ different place of birth will do that. At any rate, happy birthday to you both!
scorpio sun and moon, sag rising. i have a 12th house scorpio stellium. i think my sag rising is a major factor in what drives my curiosity and passion for the dawn of a new day...because damn, it gets dark.
Ever since I learned my rising sign is Capricorn, opposite my sun sign in Cancer, I’ve been wrapping my head around my ‘conflicts’. Scorpio Moon. I’m pretty deep, but well rounded.
I think when we are talking feminine vs. masculine - we tend to verbalize it within the physical realm, or tie it to just gender, but I think when it comes to astrology which is beyond it's physical realm and into the astrological/spiritual realm its important to not dismiss the discussion but embrace that everything in the universe is both/and. We cannot have one without the other and the dance b/t the two energies his how the Universe turns and works. So, would love to hear more about the fem/masc qualities and how they related to everything working together! .... great episode - learned so much from the both of you!
FYI - I'm talking about fem/masc in terms of energy - form/formless - or give/receive energy - or the masculine container/structure and the feminine free flow- not male/female.
as a labor nurse years ago I had felt that very real presence in the birthing room... and in my own deliveries... it is an interesting connection to the study of astrology
Thank you both for a most intertaining, educationally enjoyable 3.5 hrs on this beautiful Sunday! 🫡 💓 ♍️ Rising ♌️ Sun-12th ♎️Moon-2nd Day chart I need to redo my chart with whole house system & relisten to this talk & take massive notes on everything. Seeking my last chapter of life's purpose, been a student of astrology since childhood & have been in more of a deep dive since 2010. Things are getting more serious in all ways & I recognize this key true tool of life is playing out before me more & more! Love you both & admiringly benefit from your profound works! Thank you for such generous sharing of yourselves to the world! 💓 Awesome show! 🌟 ❣️
With all respect, I thought I'd be watching a deep dive on the big 3. Instead, the guest just completely bashed the 2 luminaries, calling them underrated and she didn't even know what to say about them, giving me the idea that she doesn't understand, in a deep sense, what they are about. I noticed Chris politely trying to give the Sun the due respect, talking about the subject of dark and light and life on the planet being majorly influenced by it, but the guest didn't get the point, I guess.
I was expecting an interesting discussion as is usual in this podcast, but Chani strikes me as more of a "pop astrologer" and not really that knowledgeable or respectful of the tradition and system itself.
Very enjoyable and insightful! Thank you Chris & Chani ❤❤ I have Gemini rising and Gemini moon, sun in Leo 3rd house. Emotions and intuition so present, I also have night chart and most planets in lower portion of chart. I love teaching creative writing and also visual arts. Thank you again Chris for all your shows, and concept of whole house. 🙃
This episode was so full of wisdom and depth that I will listen to it again, but this time take notes as well. Thank you to both brilliant astrologers!
I've been a Chani fan for the last 3 years after reading her book "you were born for this". afterwards had my chart done Leo sun, Sag Rising and Scorpio Moon. Awesome stuff! Chani rocks!
Hey Chris, will you or do you have any episodes concerning the planet Earth in astrology? Your perspective on our planet’s significations as it affects or possibly impacts houses, placements etc--that would be awesome. If you do already have an episode like this, can you direct me towards it? Thanks
I ordered Chani’s book after listening to this. I really enjoy you two together. Well, I m a Cancer sun, with Sagitarius Moon and Scorpio rising sign. I love starting new things, having multiple projects in mind, but at the same time, when I start something that I can be very passionate, I sustain for a long time.
It's ridiculously offensive to women. This need to appease a small percentage of people at the cost of concise and proper language in both descriptive and symbolic ways is a lack of respect towards both men and women; it is getting out of hand.
@@sabamwineOne cannot "identify" out of corporeal reality. Women, whether she wants to call herself one or not, are the ones who give birth, that's that.
I just love love your podcast! I finally feel like 😊 it’s happening lol I’ve followed and studied astrology and astronomy both West and East seriously all my life!! Good job guys!!❤🎉
Thank you. I will have a look at the book ‘ You Were Born For This’ by Chani Nickolas with a view of possible purchase. I often find that the use of terms like masculine & feminine is an issue in regards of modern culture from a viewpoint of possibility upsetting, But maybe a description of what those terms actually meant for ancient cultures might be appropriate ? I will use the terms Yin / Yang for my Tai Chi students but give a description of what that means.
9° Sun 11° Moon in Scorpio ♏️ 4 hour old New Moon energy. 13° Ascendant Gemini ♊️ Very Scorpionic with a Scorpio Stellium. Yet very talkative thanks to my Ascendant.
I love how in depth your natal charts are. It has all the symbols I need when interpreting people's charts and incorporating them in astro map readings Now I don't need to go to several websites I can pull everything from your charts. I'm enjoying the free part of app so far I love how deep you go Mrs. Nicholas!!
Hey CHRIS, I can't locate an email to forward this to you and Austin, but wanted to forward you a link to a paper that I became aware of on this morning's SuspiciousObservers Aug 27 YT video..I can't figure out how to send it directly, sorry! The paper is very interesting from a mechanism view on astrology, I thought, being on "zodiacal light" and the dust particles' interplanetary intereactions...
