Great video Zack - I like trip-report or blog style videos! It's interesting that those trains are quite rare down where you are, or are they just unusual on that particular route? I think it was a 158 that I got from Newcastle to Hexham a couple of months ago and it had USB sockets at every seat for powering phones etc. Power sockets of some kind are a must on trains these days - even buses often have USB or wireless charging points! I now need to hunt down your 1st video to see what the reference was about. 🙂
Yeah, it’s only rare because SWR never do routes to Reading normally, except from the ones from London to Reading, but this one was going the other way down to Basingstoke and Yeovil, and they only do this on Sunday, so I guess it is a bit rare, and also because the northern 158s are refurbished, they have plug sockets, but SWR didn’t refurbish these trains to have plugs in standard class, for some reason :)
