Yeah ERB. The BEST! Notice how POM starts as a Western? Something ERB knew about having been a cowboy for a couple of years. Almost all the Barsoom books have the same plot: kidnapped princess, gotta kill a lotta people to get her back, but great imagination and adventure.
Burroughs is one of those authors I should really read to cement my education of the sci-fi genre. I guess there was enough going on in this book that giving a backstory for immortality didn’t seem too important haha
I'm so excited for this! It was already next on my TBR shelf for when I finish my current read but even more looking forward to it now! Luckily for me some dude sent it to me.
I just finished reading "A Princess of Mars" for this first time yesterday (also my first Burroughs). It was my first book of 2023, and it was all your fault! I actually enjoyed it quite a bit. It was a lot better than I expected it to be.
I just read this thanks to your gushing over Edgar Rice Boroughs. Talk about action packed! I enjoyed the writing and the aliens. I was tired of all the action by the end. The ending was also a let down for me. I probably won’t go any farther, at least not soon.
