my evenrude sunk overnight when we cockle digging we camped on beach and could not see boat from where we were from and next morning seen it sitting on bottom, towed it to gravel beach and we worked on it, cleaned everything, changed all fluids even gear oil, and ran great, started up right away then left running for few hours then ran around with it for another hr. and when we were done after few more days digging took boat out of water and brought to dealer told them and they went through the whole motor and same, bought new electrical harness and battery but all in all saved motor :) and kept motor for 5 years with no problems and sold it for a new one and the guy i sold it to was out digging with us that time bought it and used it for another 3 years before it finally got tired, so great motor and thanks to my buddy who helped me save it :)

I've never seen this process. This is so cool! I think the most stunning "Sunk engine" video I've ever seen was a couple weeks ago - A guy picked up one of those Diesel stick outboards (Looks like Thailand ) COATED IN BARNACLES! he cleaned it up repainted, reassembled, and got it running. Absolutely blew my mind, cause before that if I saw that hunk of metal with all that on it - my answer would be "You want an engine out of that? - Melt it and machine a new one!"
