The most amazing thing about this aircraft is the designer. Eric has done more for electric aviation than probably any other single person on the planet, yet he is essentially unknown to the general public. I know he likes to focus on his work rather than publicity, but sooner or later somebody has to do a "story" to honor his life's work. And, they need to include all of his hang gliding and photo work - also amazing. People will have a hard time believing it's just one person.
This is exactly how I would have built it if I could... Folding propeller, powerful engine (for mostly starting and maybe landing I guess). Would be cool to have fly by wire controls with some sensors and stuff (probably only need internet though :-) so you could make a really cool autopilot thingy that seeks/predicts updrafts and stuff... Amazing stuff really! Amazing plane!
Just read about your plane in this months Sport Aviation magazine. You built an amazing plane for sure. Have you brought it to Airventure aka Oshkosh? Are you going to bring it this year? Cheers, Chris
to be honest....I don't know but I am shore you can find some info on solar-flight. com .... and if not, I am quite certain Eric can give you some insights...
Great stuff! I understand that flight testing has begun now, I'll follow with interest. Trade a drive in a solar powered car for a flight in Sunseeker Duo? :-)
I would be surprised if it wasn't similar to "off grid solar" in that it would allow them to store excess energy or match the solar output when throttling down the motor.
@@HannibalUvvU EH? Yes, solars panel charge in the air as well as on the ground. There's no way those panels can charge fast enough to produce 5kw continously. Read a book, ffs.
@@kensummers7757 First: This is a glider. The motor doesn't have to provide continues power. It only needs a burst now and then to climb in altitude. Second: Do you even know what recuperating is? There is literally way if you should dive the nose down to regenerate energy if the air pushes against the rotor. Ever seen a windturbine? Gfys with your ~ever read a book??2?2?~
@@HannibalUvvU I have over a thousand hours in sailplanes. Hundreds of hours in the Alps and Pyrenees. I fly a 26metre ASH 25. Buzzwords do not impress me. You literally have nfi.
