Great video, RU-vid needs more of these quick, clear rundowns on different genetic combos. Thanks for the help man

Thanks for posting man. I bought my first snake recently (super arctic) and was wondering what I could breed him with in the future... and boom you dropped a video on it. 🙏🏻🙌🏻

My buddy Dan produced a Super Arctic Sable. Unfortunately it didn't survive, but it has been produced. Awesome video dude! Jeff's done incredible stuff with the arctic gene man, I remember him telling me his reaction when he popped out the super form lol Super Arctics & Sables have been the most game changing genetics in the game since Brent made the original conda/superconda. But what puts Jeff on another level (and Dan too), is incorporating line-bred color traits into their projects. Not that breeders don't do it, but in my opinion NOBODY does it as well as Jeff. Everyone gets so caught up in making a bunch of combinations, or trying to make a world first combo, while fewer people make significantly better looking versions of those same combinations via line breeding. For example, you can look at a bunch of sables and see their variation, but most look somewhat similar. Then you got the extremely high quality red & purple sable/sunburst stuff that Dan's been working on for example (he just sent me the nicest purple sable baby that he's ever produced) and they look like a completely different snake from years of line breeding. For my male, I actually chose that Purple Sable 66% Sunburst INSTEAD of getting the nicest Purple Sunburst I've ever seen (his sibling) because I knew the polygenic color of the male I picked was still superior (price had no influence on it). Sorry for the long comment, this is just something I'm so passionate about, and I feel that the value of line breeding to make far better versions of genetic combos is so overlooked by the majority of breeders. Idk if it's cause of all the extra time & effort it takes, but anybody can put the label "extreme red" or "purple line" on a red-ISH orange albino (that label erks me cause most of them aren't RED, let alone extremely), or "breed an X to a Y to make a Z", and that's cool too, the market needs new and exciting combos, but I personally love the art of improving those combos. Anyways, rant over haha keep making these videos dude they're cool! P.S. - I think Pistachio is a b.s. gene, probably just a faint line bred thing, but if by any chance it is indeed a recessive, it's nothing special in my opinion. Overhyped by people who over-invested in it and are trying to get their money back on it. Again, that's just in my opinion, having owned a "pistachio", "green goblin", and "super green goblin" (they just looked like faintly different looking/rustier colored normals), and after speaking to a few friends of mine that have bred literally dozens of them.

Is line breeding pairing two siblings together or pairing a parent with the offspring?
@TomCreasy
@TomCreasy 3 года назад
@@shovelnosehogs it's neither, but inbreeding can contribute towards achieving better results, as long as you do it responsibly by keeping the bloodline outcrossed occasionally (bred to an unrelated animal) . Basically, it is breeding two animals together with desirable traits, to achieve more prominent visuals of those traits that compliment each other. For example, many people believe Lemon Ghosts are "dominant", but they are not, they are line-bred, and that's a big difference. It's the reason why if you outcross/breed an awesome saturated yellow Lemon Ghost, to a normal hognose, the babies will have varying degrees of yellow, more-so than the normal parent, but nowhere near the awesome Lemon Ghost parent. That's just one example... purple line, extreme red, and woma, are three more examples of line bred (polygenic) traits. Jeff created those top notch looking 🍋 Lemon Ghosts through a 10+ year project of line breeding, starting with lighter colored normal hognose that weren't even close to being the saturated yellow that they are now, and is still developing them better and better (although I'm not sure HOW much better they can get from here, the best ones are literally saturated highlighter/lemon yellow lol). It's similar to when a tall person has a kid with a short person, the kid will usually be somewhere in the middle, but if a tall person has a kid with another tall person, the kids will usually be tall. Not the best example lol but the same ideology applies to color & pattern traits with hognose.

Love these videos! Did you breed any of your hognose a this year? Would love to see a video of what you paired and what types you expect to get this year.

I haven't breed any this year. I plan on pairing Diablo and Tofu in early 2021. I'll make a video about that

I would get all arctics 100% het for albino and Sable. Also 50% of them will be condas

does the pairing of Superarctic x Albino lead directly to a subzero? Albino is recessive. I think Arctic het Albino is the result

So what would you get if you bred an albino arctic anaconda with another normal arctic anaconda?

You'll have a chance to make arctics, arctic condas, arctic super condas, super arctics, super arctic condas and super arctic super condas. They'll all be 100% het albino
