Also massive respect to the talent of Kevin Michael Richardson practically unrecognizable as Kamek.

The animation of Browser's attack is beautifully designed and stunning

I did NOT expect them to go full-on evil Bowser, but I'm glad they did! Don't get me wrong, I like the more whimsical takes on the character as well, but it's great to see a return to his roots like this, especially since this will be the first time he crosses paths with Mario (at least as an adult).

I noticed Chris is giving Mario a little bit of a Accent but still using his normal voice but who knows maybe the voice will change throughout the film

I need to hear more of Mario's voice, but... honestly this looks stunning, visually.

I can tell that Chris is doing a slight Brooklynite accent when doing Mario, not the first time we heard Mario with a Brooklyn accent cause the legendary Captain Lou Albano voiced Mario in The Super Mario Bros Super Show.

Ever since my childhood, I have been imagining ideas for a Super Mario origin story. Watching this trailer felt like a long lost dream finally coming true.

Penguin King: "Do you yield?" Bowser: "Dracaris!"

Knowing how Illumination's adaptation movies in the past were plenty of "meh"s, I'm cautiously optimistic about this. Yes, some of the voice cast choices are a little questionable (hopefully the entire cast will pull it off like Jack Black and Chris Pratt did here!), but the fact that everything in the trailer is very accurate to the video games is what did it to me! You can tell Nintendo weren't kidding when they said they were as hands on as possible with this. This looks like an official Nintendo product! They always had that quality control with their games since the 80s and now it's the same with this and I'm so happy! They learned from 1993...BIG time! Here's hoping the actual movie lives up to this trailer! 🤞🤞 (Edited with corrections regarding my voice cast opinions)

This looks awesome! The animation looks so much better than I imagined! And I'm liking the voices! You can hear a little bit of Mario's accent in Chris's voice, Jack is AMAZING! And the music sounds great! Can't wait for April!

What gets me about the animation was at the beginning they were still finishing up the animation so I went in thinking “ok, it might look a little rough so I’ll set my expectations aside for now” and then it came out like that,.,., ow I’m thinking “W-what’s left? You’re done, this looks great!”

I’m so excited since Toad’s Mario’s first friend in the mushroom world and it seems like he’ll be going on the adventure with the plumber. I sure hope he’s around the entire adventure since I’d love to see a Mario and toad adventure!

I am very relieved and really impressed with this teaser! I'm actually okay with Chris Pratt's voice. It's like a cross between the 80's live action Mario, but with a bit more of a cartoony flavor. I love Charles Martinet's voice work. Chris Pratt's in a precarious position as the voice of one of the world's most loved and recognizable characters. I think he's done a good job.

I believe the line in the at the end “Mushroom Kingdom here we come” is Mario’s voice. If so, you can still tell it’s Pratt, but there’s a little something there

Jack Black works so well as bowser

I was fanboying as much as Andre is here. The environments, and facial animations are just beautiful. Can't wait to see Foreman Spike from Wrecking Crew.

If they walk into the castle in the movie and it looks like the interior from the castle in Sm64, it would be the ultimate!

Mario is Fix-it Felix meets Emmet Brickowski, just an upbeat, mild-mannered guy and that’s exactly who he should be. It’s perfect.

Out of all of the reactions on youtube, Andre's was the one I was the most anticipating. And he didn't disappoint.😁

One thing I also note about this animation is that this is peak money talking here. I think this is probably the most inbetween stretch animation frames we've ever seen, in a Mario product. That's probably the one thing people might get an uncanny valley from, but I'm all for it. You get to see expressions we normally don't see, like recovery from being hurt, etc. All I can say, this was an impressive showing. There was so many ways this could've went wrong, but this was a great showing and a great way to start it off. Bowser conquering kingdoms on the way to Peach. Mario kind of going back to his roots of arriving in the Mushroom kingdom from a more NY/Brooklyn type city. Like he did from Donkey Kong/Mario Bros to Super Mario Bros. Also, I'd like to add another shout out to Key's Toad. I feel he'll be talking a lot in this, and that's a Toad voice I can definitely listen to, throughout the movie. It's got the Toad-esque vocal aspects to it, but toned down just enough to be easy on the ears while remaining adorable.

I feel they let Chris voice mario and are so sprung on him that they don’t care if he changes his voice, miyamoto probably blew him in the VA booth because “he’s so cool” 😂

What’s hysterical is Chris Pratt has like less than 30 seconds of dialogue in this trailer and now everyone on the Internet suddenly has a masters in linguistics

This is what folks my age were expecting back in 1993 when they made the live action movie.

i think it would be funny if Yoshi (assuming he is in this movie) helps Mario to deliver the final blow to Bowser by giving him an extra boost, referencing all gamer’s instinct to use Yoshi as an extra boost in Super Mario World😂

When you zoomed in, the first thing i noticed was that Princess Peaches castle looks very N64, as a 32 year old weird guy, I appreciate that.

Ya know what? I actually don't hate that Chris as Mario, now. The movie is clearly going for an origin story, going all the way back to Foreman Spike of all people. Mario and Luigi WERE originally from Brooklyn, so yeah, makes sense that they'd have these kinds of voices

I completely agree with everything you said! I LIKE the voice acting - Pratt’s going less Italian-accent and more Brooklyn-accent. And Bowser and Kamek killed it. I only hope Wario gets a cameo.

I was waiting to see this! Honestly, I am impressed by the animation that Illumination did with this movie...and this was only the teaser trailer, haha. I am fully sold on giving it a watch, that is for sure.

Yours, DGRs and possibly James Rolfe's and Doug Walker's reactions are the ones I'm most waiting for as those are the four opinions I trust the most on YT. Let me be honest, I've pretty much already made up my mind on whether or not I'm going to like this, so I'm not basing my opinions on what you guys think (and I've disagreed with you and the others enough times to stand by my own opinions) but seeing other like-minded individuals reacting the same way as me or pointing out issues I didn't notice is always welcome.

OK BUT CAN WE TALK ABOUT THE MUSIC WHEN MARIO SHOWS UP ITS SO GOOD AND EERIE

9.5/10, honestly feels good seeing the quality. Loving the feel of Jack Black Bowser, I do want just a hint of voice mod to drop it down a bit deeper, but it sounds like he's having fun and that's what I need. Chris Pratt is fine, no concern yet. Mario being younger explains a lot. Charlie Day as Luigi is going to carry the action while his brother talks, obviously. K-M Key is great, I was worried about the Toads doing a Minion's gibberish thing. Which COULD be good, but I like how Keegan talks so it's better this way IMO. OH I forgot Kevin Micheal Richardson as the Kamek! Shame on me, he's putting a FULL effort into his character voice! The Nasally Elder Nerd voice is spot on! It's wild to me how much range he has, his go-to Gantu/Schnitzel/Dark Laser/Groot isn't here, funny as that could be. Really thought he was Penguin King for a second, it's actually Khary Payton.

Just let you know,the King Penguin in the beginning was voice by Kharyn Payton (Cyborg from Teen Titans).

Chris Pratt as Mario = It's all right but let's wait and see. Charlie Day as Luigi = Gotta hear more lines from this fellow but he still got potential. Keegan-Michael Key as Toad = Decent and thankfully not annoying Kevn Michael Richardson as Kamek = Thank gosh Kevin didn't speak in his normal voice because it would sound to deep for Kamek. Jack Black as Bowser = I have no words... Like, Jack Black is known for being in comedy films and heck he voiced Po the Panda but his voice makes Bowser hilariously intimidating. Hopefully the other actors like Seth Rogen as D.K. comes out enjoyable.

You've probably already heard about the recent tragic events with two incredible actors from Batman the animated series and Power rangers respectively. For a movie I actually love the voice acting, the slight change makes Mario and everyone else sound more human rather than a video game

Never thought I lived to see the day. After 30+ years of never having another Mario animated cartoon (Super Mario World 1991) and nearly 30 years after the live action movie, we're actually getting a real Mario Movie in 3D animation form. I'm happy

Nice reaction to the trailer! I will say Chris’s Mario voice will take some time to get used to just because we haven’t really had a new voice actor for Mario in so long so we’re just used to Charles’ take on him, but everything else so far visually and voice wise is looking and sounding way better than what I was expecting! One thing that I do wonder with Charles Martinet’s part in the movie is I wonder if he’ll do the little voice clips/reactions for Mario that we typically hear in the games. The reason I think this could be possible is because in the trailer after Toad came out of nowhere and scared Mario, Mario definitely had lip flaps, but no sound was coming out as Toad was talking at the same time. If that were the case that would be really cool, but I won’t get my hopes up for that to happen. This was kind of me just thinking aloud just based off of the trailer. But regardless, I’m looking forward to hearing more about the movie in the months to come!

The penguin king being voiced by Khary Payton (Teen Titans Cyborg) was so unexpected but very welcome.

Looks good enough to me. I wasn't expecting Chris Pratt to sound anything like Charles Martinet, and if he tried to imitate his voice, it would sound pretty bad. So that's for the best. Jack Black so far sounds really good as Bowser and Keegan Micheal Key is sounding good for Toad also. I would like to see more footage, but overall, I'll see it in theaters.

For me personally. I think the animation and design is an absolute 10 out of 10. And I'll admit, when I heard they were doing an all-star cast for the voices, I was a bit dubious... But Kevin Michael Richardson? Blew it out of the water as Kamek. Jack Black gives Bowser the deep gravitas you'd expect from the King of the Koopas. And Keegan-Michael Key does wonders to infer the classic 'raspy squeal' of Toad's voice without making it ear grating. Chris Pratt as Mario though, is just Chris Pratt with a hint, a smidge, and very, very, VERY light touch of an Italian inflection. If they didn't want to go with the original VA (like how they did with Sonic) but not be culturally insensitive, why not get an actual Italian actor? I've seen some suggestions for Robert De Niro and Danny DeVito (though I see DeVito as more of a Wario or Waluigi).

i'm getting strong Movie sonic Vibes and thats a good thing and just like the sonic movies this seems to be it's own continuity inspired by the games but it's own thing i look forward to seeing more considering this movie is supposed to have alot of character in and see what charles martinet is doing as for the voice i think its fine reminds me of the mario cartoons when he had the brooklyn accent and was voiced by lou Albano R.I.P

Something I noticed upon rewatching the trailer multiple times is how Bowser's jawline and smile kind of look like Jack Blacks. I find it kind of surreal how they can emulate Jack's physical appearance on something so inhuman.

Im cool with the voice. I feel that Mario will start off human and somehow gets transported to Mushroom Kingdom. I didn't really feel a need to make him sound goofy with an "Italian" accent.

Nice job and nice trailer. Mario sounds more like Chris Pratt imitating Rocket Raccoon’s voice but with a Brooklyn accent thrown in there. I personally can’t wait to hear how Luigi and Peach will sound like and I enjoyed everyone else in the trailer overall. Can’t wait to see this fun, new movie

You remember how with the Sonic movie with Sonic's original design, so many people complained and there was so much negative feedback that it got them to change the design for the whole movie? Do you think we can do that again? Just one thing in particular, or rather one person in particular, nothing else. Even if it's just a re-dub. Everything else is good so far, nothing or nobody else I really have a problem with, Jack Black and the animation are the only things carrying this so far, I have hopes for Luigi, I'll even accept if DK being dumb if this one thing is changed.

ok the animation looks freaking fantastic. and i can hear jack black's...essence in the bowser voice but he captures that gravel and evilness really well. what worries me is...we didn't really mario or luigi talk. everyone else sounds right. but those two? those are the two we've all been worried about and to not have them talk really...concerns me. a bit. a lot.

He sounds like a bit of the old and new Mario voices. That deep of the original with a slight higher pitch like the new. I like it as I'm used to Mario having a deep voice

Feels like they want it to be close to the mario cartoon show with the voice acting which is understandable

Fun thing I noticed is that the wizard koopa didn't actually harm the penguins as much as get them out of the way before Bowser unleashed. Which he seemed fine with, thus making him likely more a sympathetic character.

It is a good time to look back in past video game based movies and see how things evolved over the years. Remember the first live action Super Mario Bros movie? Boy that was laughable but fun. There has been great video game based films like Mortal Kombat 1995, Resident Evil, Pokemon animated films, Final Fantasy, Sonic the Hedgehog, Uncharted. We all remember Mortal Kombat Annihilation, First Super Mario Bros Movie live action.

I have a feeling Mario is going to go on an "adventure!!" Luigi is going on a luigi's inferno kinda adventure.
