Well, now you can - samsung s24 ultra has a pretty awesome camera that i shot a total solar elclipse with and it came out pretty decent - as well as the full moon 2 weeks later...(this is in april 2024, now).

Light reflects off all the particles, same happens in fog. That's why you can't see as well when you drive with your high beams on.
