You are absolutely right. In addition, you also said to your audience that a man needs to first get his body in shape first. Lose the gut and get shoulders right in the firmness and tone. Then the man can go get a bespoke suit from a good tailor, made to fit well. Have a stylist choose the specific suit the man can have. 1 greg, 1 navy and one black is all you need.

Some effects I’ve noticed from wearing a suit or sport jacket/trouser combination once a week: -People engage in conversation more readily -Women make eye contact and smile more deeply -People adjust to let you by, or apologize when not even in your way -You walk and act more confidently

It is true. I experienced it this year since I started wearing suits more often, modern , classic style , peaky blinder style. I like having light tinted glasses that makes you look like you're from the 60's. I've struggled with confidence for many years until I had to put myself to work. I've always worn suits in high school sometimes. Everyone used to look at me weird while I felt good about myself. This year though, with vests too, authentic Fedora, newspaper cap, hair combed neatly. I get so much lool from women of all ages. Once they get a good look at you and smile, you can't help but reciprocate in a much stronger and elegant way.

I work at a bank as a lead teller and I’m usually the only one wearing a suit in the whole branch. It really not only helps with my confidence and sales, but also helps in my communication with clients. They have expressed on more than one occasion they appreciate seeing someone working there so well dressed. It really sends an underlying message to people that you are treating the situation, time, and/or occasion with respect and care.

I used to work at cvs as a technican, i hated the scrub, so i would wear the top scrub only, underneath it is my suit, vest, tie , pant, dress shoes. When the pharmacist manager is not in, i would drop the whole scrubs the entire shift until cvs had a problem with me thinking for myself and having respect for myself and my favorite clients. I've made tons of good acquisition and friends above my age, good quality people, even local celebrities from movies and shows like the soprano. One of the actors is my friend now. I already had lunch and dinner with the gentleman. What a reward to respect yourself to reap the best people who can be a part of an amazing journey or be stuck in a 9 to 5 job, being told what to do, what to wear. Nope. No thank.

Prime tip: For anyone considering their first suit, try not to pick black. I recommend navy or charcoal gray/gray because those colors lend themselves to more variety in matching the shirt, tie, belt, shoes, accessories. Black suits are very restricting in this regard and are for specific use imo. The only times I see black suits are at funerals, some department store jobs, high profile security personnel, and weddings. (just my personal experience)

I would say to a first time wearer; don't choose a black suit, unless you are required to e.g. dresscode for work, something like that. Black is the most formal color, black suit is hard to wear casually thus restrict it to only formal events. Charcoal grey and navy are more versatile to wear casually and still apropriate for formal events. Besides black is not practical color because it easily fades, doesn't hide white stains well, more demanding to maintain its pitch black.

I'm 18 and been dressing up as a proper man for almost 4 years by now. I still don't own a suit. As a poor, 3rd world country citizen, I've had to make do with secondhand clothes and altered hand-me-downs. They've served me well though and through altering them, I gathered enough skill to create garments from scratch on my own. I need to make a proper suit one of these days. One cut from the same fabric and one whose pants actually fit well. Gotta do that before college eats me.

After being in a very casual environment for the previous five years, I just landed an executive VP job. All of us at the VP level and above where suits every day and I can tell you the effect it has on our drive to perform is amazing. In the past various senior managers would show up wearing T-shirts and shorts, polos, and untucked button-downs. Even though we were all comfortable, our work suffered and, in the long run, I work product turned out to be a sloppy as our dress. It’s hard to explain that to my 16-year-old son and other young people. But, depending on your industry, mine is insurance, dressing at the very top of your level and business is critical to your success. The old dress for success book is right on the money. Dress like your clients or what your clients expect you to dress like and bring it up to the highest level you can, and you will be amazed like I was at how well you perform at work.

On new year's eve, I was the only one who worn a tailored suit at the party. I even included a signature piece based on a long red pea coat with black and gold trims. I gave advices to women on how to give an authentic strong impression when everyone else are just playing it safe, while they're worrying about make a good first impression so people will accept them. I worked for a CEO, wealthy business man at a young age in NYC. He took me to the old style Men't clubs in New York. The suit was King in those places but regardless that my suits were less than $150 at that time, he told me, and later used the same thoughts about traveling first class, '...always act like you belong there and when you are dressed well, you always belong'. I have learned over the years to have suits and the accessories that go with them. In an office, its always a shirt and tie. No short sleeves. Only in the extreme situations did the tie get un tied. I never did casual Friday. They joked with me about it but I got the respect and the sought after promotion. The laughing stopped and more men started wearing suits and ties to work. By all means get the suit, a few of them and don't forget the shoes, shined and well heeled. I do not own a pair of sneakers.

I've been wearing a suit for about a year at work. I've never attracted so much female attention (unfortunately it has not been reciprocal so far). I'm better dressed than the ceo. I've been called James Bond at least twice and Agent Smith at least once. When I started wearing a suit, it so happened that there was a reshuffling of staff with nominations at senior managerial level. I remember the panic when they saw me in the suit. Had I been nominated as the ceo or cto? One senior manager even sent my immediate manager to enquire why I was wearing a suit. I've noted that people treat me with much more respect and they are curious about what I do in life. I am 49 now and single. I can't help wondering how my life could have spanned out differently had I been dressing properly since young.

After having a couple of blazers, I decided it was time to get a nice suit. I went with a three piece(assuming the vest would help hide my gut and it DOES) in black. It was the most I ever spent costing over $900 and it was two fold. I wanted it for future job interviews AND I knew there would be a funeral within a few months that I had to attend. Well, the funeral was last Saturday and besides the funeral director, I was the best dressed there and mistaken several times for the pastor which, honestly, I was very pleased with. People that I went to school had no idea it was me until I started talking. How people reacted was very noticeable and I found myself very pleased with the results. I plan on investing and getting some more and making this my go to look.

i get treated better when i wear suits, i love suits I have a dozen or so in different fabrics but the same general style and fit. My suits from 8 years ago still fit and look great, i manage whatever simple alterations when needed with my sewing machine. I just ordered another charcoal flannel suit as its absolutley the most flattering a versatile style, pair it with a crew neck sweater for a casual look or with a nice portuguese flannel tie in a classic width with a white shirt and i can practically feel the air leave the room. Its a head turner. I get a ton of compliments. My new charcoal flannel suit should be here next week and that makes lucky number 13 and my second charcoal flannel suit. I cant wait until winter and fall to bring out the harris tweed suits and blazers, chefs kiss, beautiful! Love the channel, keep up the good work.

I was in a basic communications class, my first semester at university, last year. Whenever we had to give a speech, I always wore a suit. A lot of people teased me the first time, until they listened to my speech, and they almost all loved it. People became fearful to go after me, because I was good at giving them. I explained to them that the suit gave me confidence, so I felt better about myself, giving the speech. Beau Brummell was truly a genius. Thanks for all the tips, Kermit up, sir.

I work in an ultra-casual environment, but decided to step up my style game and now wear a suit or sport jacket/slacks almost every day, despite the (sometimes) dirty looks and comments I get from my colleagues about "making [them] look bad." The difference in how clients, coworkers, and just people on the street interact with me now is night and day. I get compliments on my outfits from total strangers. People step out of my way and excuse themselves when they see me coming even when I'm not in a hurry or trying to push past them. Men I've known for decades have actually failed to recognize me--all they saw was the suit. I'm constantly mistaken for the boss, even when the head of the company (who also wears suits) is standing right there. And not to put too fine a point on it, the ladies definitely notice. If you're a young man and you want to make something of yourself, you need to suit up. Think of it as your armor. Learn the elements of style, how to dress properly, build yourself a wardrobe, then go forth and conquer!

I will say, though, that one of the things I do appreciate about relaxed dress codes is that I get to wear sport coats with all sorts of trousers -- and, usually, that still makes me the best dressed man in the room even in many workplaces. And, honestly, there's something about a sport coat or a blazer combination that says you chose to dress this way. Whereas a suit might make you look like you came from an office, this unmistakenably looks deliberate, intentional. Also, I'm kind of hard on my pants, especially the crotch area. Hearty, hard wearing fabrics can survive a while, but anything too light weight will die prematurily. 😅 I do own a few suits, but it can't be something I wear too often for that reason. 😅

No one wears suits nowadays where I live, apart from work or a very formal event, and I live in a European capital city. Most people don't even dress good when they go out for a drink. During Christmas people were even wearing hoodies in bars. I was the only one wearing a waistcoat apart from the waiters. I want to dress good but most times I stick out, and maybe not in a positive way. So, I just usually add something casual to my look such as some nice sneakers. That seems to be working better in blending in with the casual crowd.

I've held many different technical and professional positions where wearing suits was mandatory, and I've also held positions where suits were not the norm. After years of being in both modes, I strongly prefer to not wear a suit and to dress casually (which is much more comfortable and much more affordable). My wealthiest friends (multi-millionaires who own very successful companies, etc.) do not wear suits, and never have. Hence, there is not necessarily a correlation between wearing a suit and status or success.

The original reason for the modern suit was actually as suggested in the video but glossed over. The managerial class in the industrial revolution were often poor physical specimens round shouldered, stooped and processing a paunch did not want to be physically intimated by workers who were more developed. The suit is essentially a uniform as is the the cultured casual of the tech bro (this phenomena is also present with tanning, muscles and tattoos which would have been anathema to the middle class but now de rigueur with the many asserting their 'individuality' in the most ironic way possible). The lindy effect didn't hold true for the dinosaurs and working from home and casual Fridays have done much to consign the suit to history though they will remain relevant to a defendant in court or where other forms of anachronistic role play is required.

This is my opinion only. This is just from my life experience of starting from nothing to be what society considers to be very successful. A suit is a uniform. Absolutely. It denotes rank, social position etc. It shows the world and those you are dealing with your professionalism and respect to the situation. One can wear a suit all day every day for the rest of your life. And go through life wearing a societal uniform. Or you can work and gain the respect of your peers and society through your results and not the way you dress. Ever watch Tim Cook do his Apple presentations. No suit. Steve Jobs. Never wore a suit. Elon Musk doing interviews etc. No suit. Yes. I am using the mega icons of today’s captains of industry. But only to make a point where one has a recognizable figure. Yes. Wear a suit in the beginning to climb your way up that ladder. Yes. Be nice and respectful. Yes to all that. And if and when you get to the pinnacle. Choose to wear your suit or just a pair of chinos and a grey t shirt like Zuck does all the time. Well, except in front of a congressional hearing. 😂

Don't buy a suit just for the label. For very trendy Euro looks especially, they are expensive, not produced any better, and look funny to most American tastes. Having said that, some brands will give you consistently good quality, and some are associated with a certain "look" to people who know fashion. Polo tends toward what I'd call classic American, slightly less formal, and often cut for athletic figures. Brooks Brothers tend to be the classic American business suit. The best thing you can do is find a really, really good salesperson at a menswear store or department. In the mid-1980's, I had the best shopping experience of my life. I'd bought a suit, and was going to buy a second, with a budget of $200, which is like $500 today. Salesman was an older guy with an eye patch, fussed over me for a while, and I finished with a Hart, Schaffner & Marx suit, braces, and a couple shirts and ties. Spent just over $500 for that, and I still wear it today, and it looks the best of anything in my closet. First 20 years of my career, I wore suits about every day. I changed careers 22 years ago, and it's been mostly jeans and casual slacks, suits just for occasions. I retired, I guess, two days ago, sold my business. I have ten suits and sport coats in the closet. Think I'll pull them out and go find a new job. P.S. The shoes and ties are just as important. Don't put cheap looking accessories with a nice suit.

Any suit you buy will need to be tailored somewhat. I would suggest going to Macys and buying the suit separates (jacket vest and pants sold separately).

People just dress like overgrown teenagers these days. It's sad. Instead of a 10,000$ hypebeast outfit, that will be out of style in 3 months, why not get an expertly tailored suit that will last you for as long as you keep your figure? In Japan, street style is big but suits are bigger. Even fire fighters, police officers, heck lots of factory workers will wear suited on the way to work and for when they return home.

I think the suits cut on your frame and finding good tailor more important than wear you get the suit. You can get a perfectly fine suit at a number of places but getting fit tailored is what takes it to next level. Even before I graduated to custom suits I made sure suit was right for my stature and fit tailored. For example, I always liked Brooks Brothers suits but in my younger years I had very athletic V upper shape and their suits never complimented my body so I looked elsewhere. I wear custom suits and had to order two more. Even though my existing custom suits have high-end fabrics, they look aweful on me because I dropped so much weight. I did get resized once, but I dropped more weight and there is only so much altering you can do before suit just doesn’t look right. These suits also lasted many years but are a little outdated as well so it was time to replace.

@68camarors327 I guess I kind of always associated great suit stores with great tailors. A store that has a great tailor and awesome suits kind of a hidden gem type store. I'm sure you'd pay a big price for it but you'd never forget being in there. I understand where you're coming from, and I definitely agree a great tailor is the difference between day and night.

True, but I've noticed that a lot of narcissistic and insecure men wear suits nonstop, as a way of compensating. It's nice to put on a suit, or a jacket with shirt under, jeans and decent non dress shoes when going out to a good restaurant, or relaxed event, but all of the time, or all of the time in a suit is a little silly. Jumping down the street on a whim to meet a pal for a coffee and putting on a suit comes across as trying too hard.

I agree, a gentleman's wardrobe must contain nicely tailored clothing for all occassions. I am SVP of bank and even my classic leather white sneakers (always clean) have a place. However, once must take age into account as well, I think dressing your age regadless of event matter. And while I would not wear suit to meet friend for coffee, I would not wear jeans and t-shirt either.

I must say, a vest with or without a jacket is the sexiest look! I just spent three weeks all over Ireland and, despite the 95% being black, dark grey and dark blue, there were a very few lads who had the ass and shoulders for just the vest and they were beautiful ❤️

On the thumbnail you have two men. One wearing a suit and the other one isn't wearing a suit. The man in the suit is manly and the man who isn't wearing a suit is feminine. Did I miss the part of the video where you talk about this? If so, what about women in suits? Are they now masculine looking? Anyways, when buying a suit I'd suggest going for a classic style like a two button and not something that is currently in style.
@landrypierce9942

Women in suits do look rather masculine. That’s why women rarely wear suits unless they’re trying to appear masculine (lesbians, mostly, MAYBE very business-oriented straight women). Blazers are different, and women’s blazers are built way differently than men’s.

Same here. i get looks from yoga pant older women , younger women, and damn even high school girls were eyeing me. Offa, dangerous! The older gals, I have eye contact intimacy with them in that few moment they look at me, memorized by the outfit. Plus it really does make you communicate better. You are forced to compose yourself physically with a. Fitted suit. I even brought the clips to keep my shirt down from this channle a few years ago. Love it, i highly recommend it for that sharpness.

As I've elevated my fashion game, I've had some unexpected interesting encounters. Since it's deep winter here in Alaska, I always wear a long coat with a scarf and gloves when I go out. I have three longs coats; a black pea coat, a navy coat with peaked lapels, and a camel coat, my favorite. I was just in Office Depot the other day trying to mal a package to Italy. They couldn't help me and directed me to another business that could. The older lady that was standing behind the counter did something totally unexpected; She bowed to me and thanked me for "thinking of them". No, she wasn't Asian, just an older white lady. Really caught me off guard and amused me when she did that. Checking in for a medical appointment the other day, I found the all the windows occupied, but a young man in the back waved to me to come see him when he spotted me and he opened up an additional window. Even complimented my appearance when we were finished. In particular, he loved my scarf, tied in a Parisian knot. I find I'm getting what feels like VIP treatment just about everywhere I go, simply based on my appearance. It's shallow, I know, but it feels good tbh. I have more confidence as a result, and enjoy getting compliments from random strangers, even men, in places like the Costco, Walmart, and others. And I'm finding that even when grocery shopping, I'm catching women checking me out and making eye contact and even engaging in mild flirting. Cashiers are more friendly and chatty, and I get levels of customer service in businesses not known for that, like when I was in Home Depot just yesterday. Had three employees check on me to see if I needed anything, all within minutes of entering the store. If you're a regular Home Depot shopper, you know that this isn't common. There's something about dressing well that just changes the entire game. I might be old, fat, and ugly, but I'm looking good in the process and reaping the benefits of taking the time to really dial in my look every day.☺

When I was 25, a friend of the family gave me a $2200 Brioni pinstripe suit that was tailored for me. I was walking through entrance of a family restaurant when three 20-ish black guys (wannabe thugs) nearly jumped out the way AND opened the door for me (I'm black also). Their response bewildered me. Later as I walked in the restroom they asked me if I was some type of high- powered attorney. THAT moment left an indelible impression upon me regarding appearance!
