I just realized that Cirie and Ozzie are polar opposites. One is a challenge beast who would have made a final 2 because of his physical dominance, only to get screwed by a twist final 3. The other expected the final 3, only to get jumped by a surprise final 2, where due to their physical weakness had lost any shot of getting to the end.
And despite all those contrasts, they’re both still Survivor legends :) just goes to show that no matter how good you are, if luck is not on your side, you won’t win.
@CaptainAwesomesworld I mean, after Panama she probably had no reason to believe she'd be invited back, and by the time she was she probably didn't have that much advance notice to actually get in shape, especially since in the final two she had to face off against Parvati and Amanda, two players who're definitely good at physical challenges, in an endurance based challenge.
The other thing about having a final three in the Cooks was if they had had a final two, Ozzy would likely have the record for SIX individual immunity challenge wins, standing alone on that pedestal, rather than being tied with Colby, Tom, Terry, Mike, and Brad
I would have ranked mine definitely within the top 3, but I'm biased. Thanks for putting this together! Maybe I can get my second chance and avenge that stupid bottle twist!
Jenny, you were totally robbed! Would love to see you get a second shot some day, you were playing a pretty great game until that bottle mysteriously appeared out of Jeff's back pocket.
It's hard to know how to rank any of these twists since they all had their own unique way of spoiling the dynamics. 🙄 So nice to hear from you, though, and I hope you get a second chance as well!
Malcolm getting screwed in Game Changers was pretty bad too. And Cirie, again screwed over in Game Changers. Although I guess that's technically due to advantages, not twists.
I like it, assuming the players know ahead of time. The 3 that survive get to represent the 3 pillars of survivor Outwit - have good social game and be taken to the end by the necklace holder Outplay - win the final immunity challenge Outlast - have better survival skills and make a good fire. In practice the “outwit seat” just goes to the goat, but in theory i think its a good representation of the 3 pillars
i don't necessarily like it, but there are winners/finalists that cannot even start fire and are also very lazy at camp, that's why the twist is quite ok to me
Sylvia in Fiji got really screwed as well. The players elect her as the "leader" because she was responsible for organizing the building of the entire "haves" camp, so she gets put in the position where she's guaranteed to join whichever tribe will end up at the "have-nots" camp.
One screwed player by twists are 1. Aubry most likely would have won season 32(Koah Rong) but because Michele voted out her best jury member who most likely could've convinced others to vote aubry and been an extra vote in a close 5-2 win
How about Jamal Shipman? He saw an advantage hanging from a tree, grabbed it, and it turned out to be a lose a vote with 10 people left in the game. He ends up going home in a 5-4 vote. Literally stupid. What could he have done differently? Not grab the advantage? How dumb of a move would that be. Personally my least favorite twist ever added.
But Jamal made final 12 tho... So how did he lose his vote if it occurred at final 10? Edit: Yeah you got some stuff wrong buddy. Jamal didn't even go home in a 5-4 vote on island of the idols.
Fun fact Micronesia was originally a final 3. Because there were 2 medical evacuations and a quit, they were 1 day short and last minute has to have a final challenge and final 2. If you want to blame anyone blame Kathy for quitting.
Can't believe Darrah isn't here! The jury winning immunity totally screwed her seeing as she was on an immunity run, and given her competition was Sandra, Lill, and Fairplay I think it's safe to assume she would have won the last few immunities. Yes people say "Fairplay was winning the F4 immunity anyway" but he hadn't scored enough points to win yet, and we don't even know if that would be the F4 challenge if the twist didn't exist because A) the challenge needed to be something the jury could actually participate in as a team and B) I mean, come on?? Panamanian trivia at the F4 when the challenges ALL season long had been incredibly epic - I highly doubt it. In her Survivor Oz interview she stated that she asked around after the season and everyone on the jury said she would've won in a landslide against anyone. Yes, the people here were screwed out of the game but Darrah was the only one who was screwed out of both being voted out and (at least very likely), winning. She should definitely be #1 on this list.
Epic immunity challenges? You mean the season where one was a jumble puzzle and two were popularity contests (dart game and rope chopping). Darrah also won see who has the smallest wrist. Besides that they were good. A trivia challenge was almost always one of the last immunities back then. I agree though, the jury participating was silly. I think Lex was even more screwed in a trivia challenge since they counted his correct answer as wrong. Not exactly a twist but a production screw up for sure!
@@josepheskew4392 There was also the coconut challenge when Ryno got eliminated. And yeah Darrah had a huge advantage at the F5 and her performance at the challenge was lackluster, just lucky she was petite. F4 challenge even without the jury Fairplay would have had 4 points to her 2, so she'd have had to get 3 questions without Fairplay even getting 1, and even then Lil could win by getting 2. The challenge was bullshit yes but it's not like Darrah was winning that challenge anyway, and trivia at F4 challenge was the norm back then. Lex did get screwed hard, if he gets that question he goes into a tie with KJ. If he wins KJ goes home, and Lex might win F3 immunity (he outlasted Ethan and Tom probably can't do well on a challenge involving footholds.) He very well could have won Africa over Ethan. Lex and Tom were both given second place prize money of $100k for the mistake and were rumored to be promised a spot on All Stars as well. Still I wouldn't call that a twist screw as much as it was a production mistake.
Candace may have gotten screwed but she totally deserved it. If I was playing I would have voted for her too. She was so self righteous in her first season on top of her betrayal I hated her because it just seemed to me that her attitude was that she deserved to win just because. She should have never been a hero either.
I'm a little shocked that Andrew Savage isn't on the list. The Outcast tribe twist in Pearl was doubly bad, as each tribe had to vote out a member to get one person, who was already voted out, and the two outcasts couldn't be voted out in their first return to tribal. Savage was the leader, and incredibly strong, he could've won the season, but Lill switched sides and got him out
These days Janet would dedinate be added because it just kinda felt like she had an idol that could save her and dean just so happened to have the first idol nullifier in multiple seasons
This video is all the evidence Jeff should need to get rid of these stupid twists. They don't make things more "interesting", they just add randomness in which ruins good players games.
Had I been Candace, Jeff and the producers would have gotten an earful for that stunt. Only thing worse than that crap is getting bounced because of a fricking coin toss/rock pick. Random BS does not belong in a strategy game of any form.
Can someone explain to me where the outcasts twist was on this list it screwed over Savage and Shawn. Shawn could have replaced Burton and the move to get Rupert out could have been earlier. Both players were equally robbed by this.
Off the boat vote outs are incredibly bad. I can't imagine how a player feels going through the effort of sending and audition, being accepted, doing all the marketing, going out there to the location getting to the beach then just being voted off seconds later feels like. Granted she had a chance with exile island but come on. Just cruel. Being voted out first normally is already bad enough, but to be given no chance to play at all and just be voted out. Got to hurt. Screams to me that they were either told to reduce the show down by an episode at some point, or got too many people, or something. But instead of sneaking in a double eviction into an episode they just kicked someone off.
rites of passage is a sign of a final immunity challenge. therefore, aitu4 should've known that their final 4 immunity is their last. also, in micronesia, their final 4 challenge should've not been their last since they did not go to a rites of passage ritual prior. PS. i would like to see jenny & michelle (fiji) play again.
yea, everytime i rewatch cook islands i think about that w ozzy. he would’ve won 100%. i assume he was waiting to vote yul out then bc of his idol and might’ve even gone w parv n co to get yul’s idol our earlier if he would’ve known lol
The first thing I thought of when I saw this was how two people were eliminated from the game BEFORE THEY EVEN FUCKING PLAYED THE GAME Imagine coming out here to play the game like "Wow, I finally made it onto this show that people only dream o--" and Jeff is like "Lol sorry no one voted you, you dont get to play, idiot"
People act like the twists are only awful now, but the early teen seasons of Survivor also had a bunch of obnoxious twists. Michele, Aaron, and a huge chunk of the Cook Island cast were really screwed.
Top three things that make me cringe -Fortnite kids -"I'd like to give individual immunity to Natalie" "MeRgE?? I nEvEr SaId AnYtHiNg to GiVe yOu tHaT iMprEssIoN, did I??"
What happened to Shee ann was fucking BS. that tribe treated her so badly then she got massively screwed by a twist. She was also the only interesting person left. Everyone else was boring as shit. I looked up who won (probably the least memorable person out of all the least memorable people). And just skipped the rest of the season.
What about Cirie getting voted out because of everyone else having advantages, and she was literally the only option despite the fact that not one person had written her name down?
@@janelle1701 That wasn't a twist. It was hoarding. And it would be lauded as one of the greatest episodes of Survivor if anyone other than Cirie got screwed over.
@@rokeYouuer I have to disagree. The increasing volume and emphasis on idols and advantages were divisive at best well before Advantageddon. I saw mockery like "outidol, outadvantage, outtwist" thrown around frequently. Someone getting eliminated with 0 votes probably would have been more palatable if it wasn't a fan favorite, but I simply can't see that being universally lauded by the fandom.
When they do the "30 seconds in " VOTE off I almost lose interest in the game. If I was on the game and sent off straight away to redemption island I'd just go home. People don't apply to be on survivor to not have a chance to win or even play the game
omar adil he said recently if he’s asked to play again he will. And Jeff said a few years back he still can’t believe how popular he is after game changers so not ruling out Ozzy yet
And he now has an Only Fans he advertises on his Twitter. Dude still looks fine as hell these days. He also demolished his competition, I couldn't care less about his job.
I knew Michelle was going to be no 1. Jesus, I hate so much that awful twist because she probabaly would be at final 3 for sure since she was closer with Earl and Yau Man and she was smart for herself, so she knew whats she have to do to win #BringBackMichelleYi
M. Alif Aryaguna Totally. Plus Colton is a complete non-threat, 0 physical game, arguably negative social game, etc. Candice was a young, attractive, athletic woman who had already proven to have an incredible social game in Cook Island. Also just to show the BvW pre-game alliances were definitely a thing, the reason Tina and Vytas blew up at Gervase and Tyson after the Aras vote, Bc the 5 of them and their partners were in a pre-game alliance, this why the typically cool, calm and collected Tina went off.
candice is a big threat and already a survivor icon by that time, but unlike rupert and tina, she have a bad reputation which why she got voted out. the twist was dumb af. i feel bad for jonathan wanda candice and rupert
Alex James it has to be just the alliance thing. It makes no sense to keep a weak player (because you think they’re an easy vote or a goat) before the merge if you still need to win challenges as a tribe.
I'm still upset at #1. She was so likable and worked so hard to get in the position she was in and yet get voted off in a dumb twist. She deserves to come back!
Before I even started watching this I knew Michelle is going to be no. 1. She is the poster girl of the most "Robbed player" in survivor history. Jenny hold the second place, Crissy, and Devon are imo robbed in bad way coz production wanted Ben to win so much.
Sean Wooldridge I remember before the twist was revealed, when Jeff teased it, I joked with my friends that it was gonna be that Ben automatically made it to the end, and then that actually happened
Wow you guys are mega Ben haters. They had many tribals to get him out, but were too lazy to look for idols. That's why he found 3 in a row. He was the top threat from the merge onward, and they failed to get him out. And he still had to win fire, and they were lucky he put an upside down U in the final challenge. It's ridiculous to decide something is "rigged" on the basis of not liking a player. There are many forms of lucky in the game, and every winner has gotten lucky at some point.
I feel like Sydney from Survivor 41 would definitely make it on this list. She was in a very good position going into the merge but the hourglass twist paired with the plethora of advantages and idols floating around made her one of the only people able to safely receive votes in a 12 PERSON TRIBE.
The hourglass twist pisses me off so much, it goes against the absolute core element of Survivor. I'm happy Danny had the balls to speak up about it, even though I'm sure he's now on their "do not bring back" list because of it.
I feel like the hourglass could’ve been done a lot better, like time would reverse and the two groups would be redrawn and then compete or something. The main issue with the hourglass though is how there’s no real reason not to do it other than fear your tribe mates will be upset. But either way people get upset, and one could help better your game, so you pick it. If there was a benefit to not breaking it or a downside for breaking it, I think it would be a lot better and more balanced. It was a cool concept, but it’s not balanced enough for it to be great.
Honestly you can say this about the other hourglass eliminated player, Lydia: at the bottom of the merge tribe there were Romeo Chantelle and Tori, who all gain immunity even if Tori was the only one to actually win challenges that episode. Everyone that could have been voted out had a great social play so Lydia just got eliminated for being the weakest link of them I guess
@@Captain-Sum.Ting-Wong bro danny is a boring no lying no cheating kinda season 2 ass player. If he got his way there probably would not even be idols.
@@a.jdeets5527 I am curious, what makes you say that? That is prob my fav season of survivor. Watching the Aitu 4, the underdogs, make it to the final 4.
We should talk about Janet from season 39. She had an idol for final 5 and was the best at making fire so she was set to make it to final 3. She was also well liked and had a good chance of winning the entire game. But she lost it all to a literal coin flip that gave Dean an idol nullifier, which is on its own an unfair advantage. I’m still mad
I think the most screwed player of all time was Cirie in Gamechangers (I know that 5 idols were played that night) but she was eliminated without any vote cast aganist her
I don’t think so, Earl and Yau were the only ones from that season to be contacted for other seasons. Shame though, she was put in a pretty impossible situation
MFING OZZZZZZZZYYYYYYY!! Final 3 & the god idol in Cook Islands. Then screwed in South Pacific and was one of the poster child’s for now why in the final 4 the immune person picks 2 to make fire. Sophie would have picked Alberto and Ozzy would have beat coach in fire making and would have got every vote to win... still so upset Ozzy doesn’t have a win. Would have been awesome to see him in Winners at War
I can see him being screwed over in Cook Islands, but how on earth was he screwed over in SP when he even needed a twist to save him after he had been eliminated and he then lost fair and square in an immunity challenge?
Voted out thrice. No returnee from redemption should win. He failed socially by being a bully to cochran causing him to flip. And hes never been good strategically.
Christian Hubicki was screwed by the twist of the slide puzzle on day 1 of David vs Goliath! How dare Survivor introduce that game breaking twist that made him lose. I will never forget Christian!
gtac13 I think he showed his threat level easily by first impressions. From his appearance on first glance, you could tell he was a brilliant guy and I think his performance on the slide puzzle challenge only proved and validated this observation.
what he's the one that said that he created a algorithm for puzzles. lots of people are good at puzzles and if you dont announce it a lot of people dont notice.
I feel Angie from Palau should be on this list. At a double tribal council, Ibreheim was the obvious target for his bad challenge performance. But Koror got to vote to give one of them immunity. And they gave it to Ibreheim. Angie was then voted out after a tiebreaker vote. Angie was even popular among the viewers. So this didn’t make a lot of people happy
MLB JOEY no because the men and women numbers would be equal. And Stephenie only voted against her because she knew the guys were voting against her. If Stephenie remained loyal, or if by some miracle Ulong won, Angie would probably stick around. Plus, Angie and Stephenie needed one vote, so they could probably sway Bobby Jon because James was weaker
yes totally agree, would love to see her get a second chance and I think had Ibreheim gone like he was supposed to Ulong might have won the next immunity
Thank you for including Jonathan and Wanda from Palau on this list. Palau is one of my favorite seasons, but that is my least favorite part of it. I look forward to your videos! Keep them coming!
Really after what happend to Ulong? All thought I will say production made a horrible decision not doing tribe swap after witnessing Ulong losing strick. They did not screw a player but an entire tribe. Also I heard a rumor that instead of Stephanie/Bobby Jon original plan was to place Wanda/Jonathan to compete in Guatemala. Also to add insult to injury no merge feist for Koror. Stephanie was sent to their camp with no food or anything. So Koror inhaliate Ulong with out any reward
@@popmans9999 What are you talking about? Koror won a crap ton of rewards. A shower. Cleaning products. A fortified shelter made by pros, and plenty of food rewards. They were living Survivor luxary. At that point, who cares if there isn't a merge feast?
@@popmans9999 The whole point was to give them more incentive to bow out of the immunity challenge for food (which all of them but Tom did.) Then there was a reward where half the tribe got a feast at a festival in which they brought a crap ton of food back to camp for everyone literally a day later.
Queen Kara not getting a single elimination vote the entire game, voting with the majority for most of the game, being well integrated socially and strategically, and being eliminated in fire should have been on this list. Her game is so under appreciated and it killed me to see her go home because of fire.
i think they made the micronesia be final two bc of all the quits and medevacs would’ve shortened the days left on survivor so they needed an extra challenge to make it to 39 days
I mean, the Fiji situation was basically a tribe swap but without the time to strategise. Even though I didn't like the Onion alliance, I think Charlie and Marcus should be on this list. The pole balancing challenge was clearly designed as an individual immunity but production changed it once they realised the cliquey alliance was gonna coast to the end.
Ben Faulkner I don't think Charlie and Marcus qualify cuz they weren't screwed that much compared to these people. Also, tribe switches aren't totally unexpected whereas these twists were completely random and unprecedented, plus Marcus could have done many things to save himself on Kota 3.0, and so could've Charlie at Nobag.
In fiji Earl had to win easily , bc Cassandra did not do nothing she was a completely usseless , and dreamz was a liar and asshole . It would be more interesting if Michelle and Yao Man got final 3 or even Boo and Stacy. Cassandra and dreamz were the worst finallist ever
I thought Sandra was screwed over in the second tribe swap of Game Changers. She had control of the pre-merge in her previous tribes, but got placed in a terrible position with Varner.
Tbh I feel like the whole Ulong tribe was screwed. I feel like some of the tribe members would make it far and potentially win the game. But because the tribe just dwindled and had no tribe swap. Stephanie really had no winning chance with that bad of odds. On a side note it was so blatant that the production wanted Ben to win. He found like 3 idols in a row along with that unfair fire making twist.
@@lafingscarecrow I know he found those idols on his own, but have you not seen the speculation about production keeping him with that twist? There was no way the three of them would take him to the final.
@@strawberrymermaid8825 they had that twist planned before the season started, and if ben had won that immunity challenge, that were going to do it anyway. there is zero proof of production favoring ben.
@@lafingscarecrow that's why I said "speculation", and a lot of people think it was rigged, and that production kept him because they wanted him to win the season. Also you can search up "was Ben's win on survivor unfair", and you get a lot of articles.
@@elijahculper5522 The thing was that Paschal was sent home in something that would never happen in a modern season. Paschal's elimination was why the fire making tie-breaker was made.
I think the rock draw rule was known to the players at the time (even though it was the first time viewers saw it). That is all the players had a fair shot at preparing for the situation.
From survivor 42, we could also add another Jenny onto this list: seriously she was part of a 4-2 majority but Chanelle casually took a hike and lost a vote because of that and Mike got punished for getting an immunity idol isn’t it so fun guys!!!
popmans9999 No the reason they switched from a final 3 to a final 2 was because James got evacuated late in the game. That threw off production’s plans and had them vote out an extra person.
Before I watch this video I hope to see some of the following on this list because they truly were fucked over: Michelle (14) Jenny (13) Aaron (15) Anna (32) Shii Ann (5) Shawn (7) (A lot of people say Andrew was screwed by the outcast twist but honestly Shawn had it worse) Devon (35) Candace (27) Wanda/Jonathan (10) Cirie (34) EDIT: After watching the video 10. OHH I forgot about this! Yeah Ozzy was truly fucked over with this surprising new twist. 9. Oh fuck how did I FORGET this?! That was so fucked up for Cirie I felt for her. 8. Yep. 7. Yep. Oh yeah Chrissy was screwed too but I don't think Ryan really had a chance to win either way lmao. I only put Devon because he would've made final 3 without the twist and had a shot to win. 6. Yep. 5. Yep. 4. The only reason I didn't put Silas on my list was because had he'd given T-Bird/Frank more respect pre-swap he would've stayed. Instead his cockiness from having control had his former tribe mates out him at the swap and turn the tribe against him. 3. Yep. They NEED to be on a second chance season to actually play. They should've been on Guatemala instead of Stephenie/Bobby Jon like the original plan was. 2. Yep. 1. Yep. So sad she was taken out like that. :( Please come back Michelle. We adored you.
In all fairness, as American psycho douchy as Silas was, he was kind of backed into that situation. Frank and the Dr. were the first ones to try and form an alliance of the older folks and include Silas, I assume for athleticism and events. Problem with that is Silas's point of view why would he join their alliance, when realistically if it came down to them he would be the first one gone as the older folks would vote him out. On the flip side you had the younger group running around like chickens with their heads cut off begging for leadership, and he can slide right into a cush lead position and when it came down to it convince whoever to dispose whoever at will! I believe that is why he chose to turn Frank in the doctor down inside with a young crowd. After that Frank in particular was really salty toward him but production completely glossed over that angle. After that I don't think it was Silas who really polarized besides against each other. The main person I blame for that is Lindsay! She threw her little tantrum threatening people after she received votes at tribal council she was constantly bickering complaining or crying while claiming to be a badass and just negative overall. I mentioned somewhere else what I think their biggest mistake was. What give me pictures enemies was the conversation right before they voted off that lady Linda I think her name was the kind of crazy one with the crazy eyes... all the older people wanted to know was who was being voted off and again Lindsay was the main antagonist telling them they couldn't know. then Silas was brainstorming and wanted everyone to vote one way for Lindsay so no one else would receive votes. Theresa asked "What's in it for us?" and Brandon answered " Nothing! ", Being totally catty. If they had just been reasonable and given the older folks the information they wanted, telling them who would be getting voted off, compromised and at least they would have still had a working relationship. instead they drew a line in the sand and were enemies way too early in the game when they still needed each other to function as a team.
I'm of the opinion that Ozzy is #1 for the simple reason there's a 99% chance he wins if not for that twist. Devon as well but I'm not 100% sure if he wins the F3 against Chrissy/Ryan, I think he does tho. Also not sure if Cirie wins that F3. Jonathan/Wanda was extremely unfair, rumor was they were gonna be the Guatemala returnees before Bobby Jon and Steph. But at least they didn't get screwed out of a practically lock for $1,000,000 like Ozzy and to a lesser extent Devon/Cirie. Bottle twist was also bullshit but production didn't want the seemingly inevitable fate of the whites dominating the game. I don't believe for a second Aitu would have to vote 2 of its 4 members out if they lost that challenge. Fake merge wasn't so bad because Shii Ann never wins in any scenario regardless, if she flips to Chuay Gahn they vote her out 6th.
Fiji yes, but you forgot the other bottle twist where the winning tribe either goes to tribal or loses their camp. Never should you be punished for winning
I grew to like Ben a lot more in Winners at War, but when production screwed Chrissy out of what should have been an amazing win, I was pissed as hell.
HHH would be a top tier season if it wasn’t for that twist. Ben would be the fallen angel who played a really interesting game but ultimately couldn’t be saved by yet another idol. And as mentioned in this video, the final 3 would be super exciting seeing as any one of them could’ve won with a solid FTC speech.
the twist was very lucky for Ben, but Chrissy and the others deserved to lose. none of them stayed up to keep tabs on Ben’s idol hunting. 4 v 1. they had all the power they needed to keep him from finding idols, but got careless because they had the numbers.
SeaStar It shouldn’t be possible to find a hidden idol every three days. The point of an idol is to buy a little time, or take out a big target; it shouldn’t be a viable strategy to find an idol every episode and coast to the end. When an idol is played, it should be removed from the game. It’s kind of ridiculous that production put as many idols in play as they did that season. And it wasn’t really that unreasonable for the cast to assume that eventually, production would stop hiding idols after one was played at so many consecutive tribal councils. In a regular season where the producers didn’t have such an obvious favorite, they wouldn’t have hidden another idol after Ben had them at two consecutive tribal councils. They shouldn’t have had to babysit Ben because there shouldn’t have been an idol for him to find in the first place.
a way to counter the idol nullifier is by playing another idol because the nullifier only blocks one idol. So the idol nullifier nullifier technically already exists Also Chrissy's advantage was getting the knowledge that she had to send two people to a fire making challenge
That wasn’t a twist though, just a horrible move from his ally. I wonder, is there a video about contestants who got screwed by their allies? I’d put him at number one on that countdown
Brenda in Fans Vs Favs 2. I felt so sad when she won the family visit challenge and was given the option to let all the other people have the visit instead. It was a choice she couldn't possible say no to, or risk everyone being furious with her, and then they all voted her out anyway.
