Tragic to see Brian go down hill like he did. 😢 The shaking and hobbling around from the heart attacks and drinking, destroyed him. He was a brilliant front man, talented and had it all. Not knowing his parents set him on a downward spiral. The poor guy was lost. 😞 May he rest in peace. Something he didn’t have when he was alive. Thank you for the great music 🎵 and memories. ❤💕

I understood from a different video that he was also attacked brutally after a night going out, damaged his throat and it had a huge effect on his voice and voice range… 😢😢

Was a nurse at hillingdon hospital and on the morning I arrived for work when we had the days handover it was explained who ad arrived during the night I was the only member that morning who recognised his name and his music so I was assigned to care for him.....such a lovely humble person grateful for everything I did for him even though I kept explaining it was my job and i was happy to do everything and anything to help him its sad when people find success end up lonely

I met him once at the Marquee Club in February of 1986. He was such a softly spoken and gentle bloke. I was young, and severely hammered at the moment, and he almost felt sorry on my behalf. I even got to meet Mick and Andy after the show, thanks to Brian. The groopies were left waiting outside the dressing room, whilst I and my mates were in there.😅

I was born in 1963 and remember The Sweet well playing on Top of the Pops. What a band, they were magnificent and with Brian Connolly out front he was the ultimate showman. Good looks, coupled with a great singing voice and that beautiful long blonde hair. God rest his blessed soul along with Mick and Steve, their music will live on for an eternity. Can't forget about Andy either, it must be hard for him to be the last surviving member. Long live the music of The Sweet. Such an underated band at the height of their success.

This truly is heartbreaking and very hard to watch for me. To understand addiction one needs to understand childhood trauma. To quote Dr Gabor Maté (he worked for 12 years in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside): "Addiction is only a symptom, it's not the fundamental problem. The fundamental problem is trauma. Addiction connects back to trauma that people have experienced in their life."

Brian and I had several evenings together. At the latter days of his life, he used to pop in at "The Old Orchard' restaurant in Harefield, where my band had a residency. A few drinks, lots of conversation, always polite and appreciative of the fellow muso's : not a prima dona which is rare in this business. He was a lovely chap and great company. Wish him all the best if he is in a better place. Deserved better!

How sad for the guy to end his days in such pain, after all the happiness he gave to his many fans. Man he was a tough cookie, 13 heart attacks in one day, that would have finished most of us, RIP Brian !

They say that youth is wasted on the young. I could’ve avoided so many pitfalls had I known then what I know now. I heard “Little Willy” on the radio when I was 8, and somehow knew immediately that this band was different. Fell into harder stuff as I got older but always appreciated these guys. They never really hit big here in the US, but were definitely a part of my youth. Sad to see Brian in such bad shape..RIP

I remember watching this documentary in 96 and talking about it with my mates in the pub as a teenager. We'd all watched it and could see the damage that lifestyle did, but we all went at the beer, cigarettes and drugs pretty hard. Wish I'd have taken more notice then and not wasted so much of my life inebriated, half way from there or too there. He didn't last much longer after this documentary was shown, he was only 51.

Hi Allan I don't know how I missed this one, but it was a lovely tribute, I so remember the Sweet, had no idea of his history, but you know a lot of these young musicians are idolized and sometimes regardless of whether they had family history, are chased, screamed at by young women, suddenly they earn more money that they ever had, but often too much to cope with, many die too young. So sad.

Tony, yes and i really wonder, brian was singing the last song with sweet, after he's attack and he did it perfectly, i can't remember if it was love is like oxygen, and i think that it was possible to write the music so it was possible for him to sing it, but with and ass like andy that just wanted to kick him out then it wasn't possible, if i was andy, then i walk around with a very bad taste in my mouth. My first concert in life was with the Sweet in Cobenhagen in what I remember as 1976. As a Young wannabemusician as was just blown away, and still remember the red amplights as a wanning to something big happening on that stage! What a great band, what great musicians and what a great singer. Many years have gone by and everything changed in life, but I still feel that this was no easy popband setup. Its actualy very good music and not your nowadays producer BS. The did it live and did it Well👍

Who wouldn't have wanted to be at places like The Rainbow , Bonfire (regular musicians like Hendrix played in the day) , The Whiskey (any of them) , Bronze Bear , Caboose , Rollies , Next , Freeze , .... Back when the music was real music. And bands cared about their fans. And the music..oh that sound. You could dance all night long... On a shot or two of Southern comfort .. maybe a bit of weed.

Brian was a fantastic "Front Man", to a vastly underrated rock band, named The Sweet, in 70s Britain, it was considered "uncool", to admit that you were a fan of this incredibly, talented band. But everyone who was fortunate enough to see them perform live, knew that they were an incredible Rock Band, who could play at an unbelievable level, they "Kicked Ass", on stage, wonderful musicians, and incredible show men, we shall not see their like again, RIP Brian, Mick, and Steve, "Sweet Forever!" ❤❤❤❤.

Yes, it is a very sad thing to see, a hard blow, Brian trembling, fatigued to speak, to walk... practically a disabled person. Yet with a dignity and strength of spirit to show himself, to be filmed like that, that very few would have. It takes courage to show illness, physical problems, especially when you were as handsome as a Renaissance gentleman. It is still a sense of tenderness that remains with me, not repulsion, the desire to love him even more...
