Part of the Disney movie "The Sword in the Stone" where Arthur, who has been turned into a sparrow by Merlin, has unfortunately fallen down the chimney of Mad Madam Mim, and into her clutches. Video material owned by Disney.
I think the best thing about Madam Mim is that she's one of the few Disney villains that doesn't want to rule the world or her home land. She just wants to cause trouble and bring misery to others without doing some world conquering scheme.
Idk, the Hatter is mad, but in a more harmless way. Any trouble he causes is usually a product of mad innocence. Mim, however, seems to be very aware of the misery she's causing and relishes in it.
@@TreasuredHarteI’ve heard that’s very stressful to work for Disney and Disney’s children are having a hard life because of how demanding the world is.
I love how Madame Mim totally embraces the way she looks. She's like "I can be beautiful, lovely and fair" like she's saying she COULD fit in with what society wants her to look like, but then she's like nope, this is how I look and I LOVE IT!
Why are you all reading it like this? Her whole thing is having a perverted moral axis, "evil be thou my good" and all that. Hence she would rather be ugly as ugliness has always been a sign of wickedness in human history. She's still playing by society's rules, she just has different goals in the game
@Casper Vestergaard I hate how people forget that, she literally wishes death and serious illness on others and you have what, SJW's saying "you go girl" She's the bride of Satan, draw the line somewhere people.
I actually had the hots for her younger form back when i was kid. And i was maybe 6 years old. Nowadays i have absolutely no idea why, but i thought she was absolutely gorgeous. I had some really odd taste back then... i especially liked that dance. Like there was some odd seductiveness in it. Like back then i tought it was almost at par with esmeralda or eris. ... i really didn’t have too high standards... 😂
Henkka Henrik I think most people have the hots for her younger form, it’s not odd taste. Odd taste is having the hots for her regular form, which I do. What can I say, she’s got a really thicc booty!
PoundToundHound If you’ve read the book you wouldn’t be saying that. In the book she eats the child by keeping him in a cage for several days. When it does come time she undresses him and prepares to smash a brick across his head before merlyn comes.
I never thought she was scary at all, I thought she was pretty cool! I think Mad Madam Mim is one of the most underrated antagonists in the Disney Franchise, even though she was on screen for about 10 minutes she definitely had the best role in the film! I'd love to see a live action version of her, I think she'd be a brilliant character to have on ABC's tv show Once Upon a Time or have a tv show of her own explaining her background and how she became Merlin's rival... but that's just me! :-)
I don't think she was evil. Just completely mad. She likely would've spared him if he just played along and wasn't a party pooper. Maybe she would've tried to make him her apprentice or something, would've given him time to be rescued or sneak out when she's sleeping.
@Chris Smalls Nope. She wasn't the voice of Merryweather in *Sleeping Beauty* . Merryweather's voice was done by Barbara Luddy, who was the voice of Lady in the original *Lady and the Tramp* , the original voice of Kanga in *Winnie the Pooh* , and Mother Sexton in *Robin Hood* .
I'd like to think that Merlin and Mim were once classmates in some prestigious wizard academy, but while Merlin was at the head of the class, Mim was a flunkie. Needless to say, Mim took exception to this, and...yeah.
My younger sister, when she was 3 years old, would sing the Madam Mim song from the part of her being beautiful to the end XD SO hilarious as she would pull on her hair hard!!! AND I would say "WHY you little DOUBLE 'U' instead of "Devil You"! LOL! LOVE classic Disney movies.
Lyrics from "The Sword in the Stone" Composed by Richard M. Sherman and Rob Sherman With only a touch I have the power Zim zabberim zim To wither a flower I find delight in the gruesome and grim 'Cause I'm the magnificent, marvelous, mad Madam Mim I can be huge Fill the whole house I can be tiny Small as a mouse Black sorcery is my dish of tea It comes easy to me 'cause I'm the Magnificent, marvelous, mad Madam Mim! I can be beautiful, lovely and fair Silvery voice, long purple hair La la la la la, la la la la la La la la la la La la la la la, la la la la la La la la la la But it's only skin deep For zim zabberim zim I'm an ugly old creep The magnificent, marvelous, mad, mad, mad, mad Madam Mim!
“Annddd he must see something good in you” Well I suppose so ? “YES and in my book THATS BAD! *SLAMS WINDOWS SHUT* So my boy I’m afraid I’m gonna have to destroy you!”
She's my role-play model in D&D. My white mage/unlettered arcanist is like a combination of Mim and Mary Poppins, so I guess Missy from Doctor Who. A would-be witch, trained in the healing arts, yearning for something a touch more sinister. With the voice of Mrs. Doubtfire. "HELP IS ON THE WAY, DEARIE!"
SpikeLanta Yes it is, considering she cheats (a lot) is deranged, evil, cruel, vicious, and a lot of other synonyms for bad. So yes, do not take after her in real life.
My favorite moment of the movie! Madam Mim rocks. I was never scared by her even as a kid, I figured she'd lose in the end as Disney villains always do and sat back and enjoyed her antics. And this was my favorite song in the movie. I HATE SUNSHINE!!!!!!!!!! I HATE HORRIBLE, WHOLESOME SUNSHINE!!!!!!!!!!! I HATE, HATE, HATE, HAAAAAATE...
0:08 DONT TRY TO HIDE IT MIM, THAT LINE GAVE YOU AWAY, YOU TOLD WART THAT YOUR A VILLAIN, BUT YOU ARE VERY CLEVER WITH YOUR TRANSFORMATIONS AND TRICKS AS A SORCERESS (Whatever she is?)
Hmmm maybe Disney feel they would (now a days) get in trouble for leaving it in... Probably cuz it's serious? And parents would complain... Not sure why though... This population can't take anything like they used to be able to... Stories were scary to deter children from doing wrong... This is a protected generation, a cause of the lack of respect these days.
This woman is EPIC in more ways than one! Love how she accepts her ugliness, and is a complete psycho! I can't believe I went all these years never knowing about this character! PS: I love the boys voice!
Old Disney gave the villains/antagonists some good qualities. Like confidence, working smart, and pretty much stuff society tells you that you need or should have.
Even though she is called MAD. She acts quite young for her age. Idk how old she truly is, but her love for games and magic keeps her alive. She can change her appearance, yet is proud of who she truly is. Not truly evil nessescarily, just a trickster.
I like how she knows she is batshit insane, and completely embraces it. Truly chaotic, would be an awesome d&d villian, one that the party had to just try and survive, couldn't actually beat.
Its actually quite liberating and possibly empowering once you embrace the flaws that people try to use against you. You get a better understanding of them more than they'll ever understand you.
I loved Madam Mim lol She's just literally a madwoman with too much power! I don't approve of straight-up destroying those who don't know you, but everything else was just fun to watch.
2:16 that made me feel hypnotized if I was a boy I would totally fall in love if that was her real face and voice and the sparrows face makes him look like a sparrow that's hypnotized
Gotta admit i feel quite similar. As a kid these disney movies were just basically something that kept me entertained. Now i look back at them with fond memories and really apperciate them for what they did.
I don’t know what it was with me (I’m a 39 year old boy that was brought up on Disney!!) I think I seen something in Madam Mim that reminded me of my fierce and loyal mother that would kill for us kids rather than see us stranded !! That’s the gospel truth!! I’m the fine young Man I am today because of my mother!! And Disney was always there too!! The rescuers, the little mermaid!! On a level my Mum brought us kids up from old school 70’s, Mowtown, northern soul and the righteous attitude!! My brothers and sisters say hello to each other and soon strangers become friends x x
Took me years to realize that she may have sensed Wart/Arthur would become King and end the Dark Ages of England, which is why she decided she had to destroy him. "Annnndd he must he see something good in you...?" "Yes, and in my book, that's BAD!!!" I love how matter of fact about how she's about to murder him, XD
I actually have a theory that Willie the Giant was trained by Mad Madam Mim. Think about it: Willie says he could change himself into an elf, fly up high like the birdies, disappear into atmosphere, and transform into pink animals. Madam Mim can do all those things too. Plus, in the Kingdom Hearts games, Merlin can travel to different worlds--if he can, who says Mim can't too? It would also make sense for her to take on a student who's bad, dimwitted and relies on brute strength, which is opposite to Merlin's style of teaching Arthur to be smart and clever instead of using magic.
I love Disney so much I’m crazy with Disney I sing it at work while driving and I’m also happy because of it your videos you are sharing are classics Dreams do come true
I like how she's introduced as a goofball, but Archimedes reacts with seemingly inappropriate dread because he knows she's truly dangerous. That's good, subtle writing that you just don't get in children's movies anymore, the scripts are always so on the nose.
