🇬🇧 This beautiful effect is Gabi’s interpretation of the trick “split Second”, original by Stewart James and published for the first time in the magazine ‘New Tops’ in 1961. It might seem that Gabi's presentation is an invention to make the trick more engaging and justify that two spectators put their two half cards together, producing the effect of coincidence, but after doing some research, it turns out that the word “symbol”
actually comes from the Latin “symbolum” and this one from the Greek “σύμβολον” (symbolon), “sign”, “password”, etc. Originally that “symbolon” was an object divided in two, of which two people each kept one half. These two parts together served to recognize the bearers their commitment or their debt. This object is also referenced in English as “Tally”. Once more, Gabi surprises us with his culture, acquired by reading thousands of books, a knowledge that later, he masterfully applied to his magic routines.
