~THE MOUNTAIN~ A behemoth on the edge of the horizon, a symbol of height, a place to climb up in search of the divine, the residence of the gods, the obstacle, the ancient one. All of these attributes flow forth when we start pulling on the edges of the question, “What does the mountain symbolize?”
Inspired by Mariana’s recent pilgrimage to Provence, we spend our fourteenth episode exploring the sacred symbol of mountain. Rife with caves, impossibly high, full of wild nature, the mountain appears everywhere, from fantasy novels to mythic landscapes, in the imagination of painters, mystics, and poets.
