The System - A Tom MacDonald Review/Reaction

As a business owner, my resentment of "the system" ramped up starting in 2020 when the system began telling me I can't make my own choices to be open or closed, things i had to wear, and things i had to require my clients to wear, and to make medical decisions for me and those who work for me. They nearly destroyed a business we spent 20 years building. So F "the system."

Tom is singing from the perspective of the system. This is what the system believes not necessarily what Tom believes.

It seems to me that Tom picks his words very carefully. He points out the hypocrisies on a very surface level to leave it open for the listener to interpret how they choose. Meanwhile always giving an underlying message of unity. One other comment for Brian. I have no problem with you guys pausing. Another reactor that I watch has a rule about that….”my channel, my rules”. Totally appreciate both of you. Have a great rest of the week. ❤️✌🏻

I took the song completely different. Even if I have differences of opinion than others. I got that Tom is writing from the perspective that the System is more in control of our beliefs and the division in society than we realize and that most people don't understand how much of their own beliefs are being manufactured by the algorithms.

It's refreshing to hear open dialogue and not name calling if you guys disagree with something... Makes me miss the "old days" when people could discuss ideas... Great reaction guys! 😎

I don't think he is saying that the system created science or religion, I think he is saying that the system manipulates ("gives" a type of) science and religion to control people by bringing division when science and religion can go hand in hand and ultimately don't oppose one another. Cause he says it gives science that opposes the words of Christ which doesn't mean that science is right, just that the system is trying to keep people divided and not allow any form of unity or congruity.

He's pointing out all the opposite beliefs that are being used to separate and isolate us all. If we can get to the place where we see one another as human despite our disagreements, the control is broken.

Interesting commentary. I’m glad you recognized the value of the song for making you think. I think that’s all Tom ever wants when he puts out music is to have a discussion about what he shares. Evaluating your commentary on his song, though, I think you were being a little bit too literal with things in places. Most of Tom‘s music is symbolism and looking at things from the bigger picture, not necessarily the specificity of words that he uses. Always appreciate your reactions, so keep up the good work fellas!

Relisten to the song with the perspective of Tom being "the system", not an individual point of view about the system, how "the system" sees things and controls people within the construct it has built to divide people as much as possible at all levels, then rinse and repeat the cycle already established to keep most people stuck where you are, then have some kids that become the product of their environment doing and thinking the same damn way

He's talking about the system using us /our children for "Their" purposes and gains. they don't care about us but what we can do for them and how we can make them rich at our expense. And they are coming for our children

Some good points in the commentary, appreciate your review. When you state this or that is over simplified...it is a song not a documentary where an explanation or description of an issue can go into depth.

I think Tom was speaking of the Politicans in the System. God created Government to give us somewhat laws to live by, but our Gov isnt suppose to infringe on our Lives. He's basically calling out the b.s in his way and thats why I apperciate Tom and Nova. Great video! 3:20 or by "Indoctrination starts as soon as you come out the womb", he could be talking about social security numbers. Most states 'request' that you apply for your newborn's social security number before you even leave the hospital. From that point on, you are a number in the system.

In reference to the verse of religion and science.... I believe he was referring to how we have "freedom of religion" based on constitution so in essence they gave us a choice to choose which religion aside from Christianity. Science however, as demonstrated throughout this pandemic as well as a few other topics, is only used by the "system" when it suits their needs or agenda and disregards actual facts/evidence science can prove or disprove.... either way they use it against for their agenda. Every time I hear the term the Big Bang Theory I can not help but think of the line in the Bible speaking about God creating the world... And then God said "LET THERE BE LIGHT"... I have always believed that this is an example of how the Bible in many instances is very compatible with scientific theory...

I actually think that when it talks about the working for food thing it actually says cancer food not cans of food 🤣. Love your guys's reactions, great that we can all discuss things without throwing fits and name calling. I believe the system he's actually talking about is somewhat the one percent, but also peoples own thoughts and beliefs that go against them and the people that are around them throughout their lives. People use the system as an excuse for who they've become but honestly I believe most things we can fight for and win in this country. My husband is a war vet and I think the imaginary border lines really resonate with him. We say our countries have borders but when wars start those lines dissappear and people die to protect or defend those lines. Having said that, I always learn something new from every reactor. Like, u reminding people how our privileges of today vs what it was to be alive back in the 1,800's etc. Thanks! Tom's definitely in his bag on this one spitting a lot of facts/perceptions. Mostly we know all this stuff but, never speak on it or hear it put so bluntly. His artistry / lyricism is truly an eye opening inspiration. If you don't think the American curriculum dumbs you down, simply look up who's behind it's creation and few of their quotes.... John D Rockeffella for instance said in relation to this: ''I want a nation of workers, not thinkers'' Says it all really. Regarding democracy, what if the system gives you the 2 options only on purpose? Seems odd there's alway 2 sides to divide. Regarding Tom's message in the song I highly recommend We Skeem's reaction.... that guy trully gets what's wrong with voting back in one of two options we've tried countless times before! All of whom have taxed us to death while missspending, both involved with countless wars, many illegal, and untold corruption! And what trully changed when leading political party's have changed? Good reaction though, we all have a right to civilly disagree.

While the system might not give you religion, science, et. al., it does decide which gets promoted, funded, favored and so forth.

By the way, i personally dont mind if you watch the video before filming because many of these heavier topic songs may require multiple listens in order to catch the message the artist is trying to get across..it gives us a more thorough review/reaction and also more in depth commentary from your unique perspectives and personally that is why i watch these sorts of videos because i want to hear what other people are thinking and how it compares to what i am thinking..loved this!

The only reason I “hate” my job is because I’m not a ppl person and I’m also lazy, but I have to work to get anywhere in life. I’m not going to sit at home and collect a check. That money has to come from somewhere and it sure isn’t the government.

I think personally its a cynical view type of song, but its correct. I can be conservative but like he said i vote and i still might lose cuz all my values arent represented, im choosing the best possibe choice for me but i still lose , and 911 was Afghan and ended up in iraq with the oil. The system is the best we got but it's used by some to manipulate the world. It promotes us to be working ants but most of us want this anyways. On Religion vs science topic, I think Tom is referring to our constitutional right to freedom of religion (including tax breaks on religious institutions) vs govt funded scientific research. Our "system" of government allows both things to take place simultaneously. But I also agree that science can be used to support christianity and vice versa.

I know I left many comments but I really want to know what you guys believe the 20 year war was about. Me personally it seems odd that heroine was taking over our country, once we left( in an absolutely horrific way) oddly enough the fent took over(China) our country. Afghanistan is the top producer of heroine I pretty sure they produce 90% of all poppy. I'm sure everyone remembers the videos of our soldiers "protecting" those fields. I could go on and on just really curious on what you both believe that war was actually about. I lost 2 cousins there, that weren't even old enough to buy booze but the gov believed they were old enough to put their lives on the line for a war that many still have no idea what it was even about. Everyone is numbered when they are born.

We have 1-2 year olds using i-pads now. The indoctrination DOES start almost from birth, and not JUST from parents. Children's shows are now programming them to see things from one perspective, and right now, that perspective is almost exclusively from the far left.

Left or right our rights become less and the government still expands. The've recently passed laws to where if a person is breaking into your home that more than 50% of their body has to come in before you can use force. First the shouldn't be on your property or in your home at all, second: how long in the middle of the night do you want to wait around to see if they have a weapon? They also passed a law that people in prison have 1yr to get found innocent or they deny any other appeals (many do get out on appeal but it takes longer than a year). They say this is to protect tax dollars but they have no problem spending hundreds of billions on other things like false allegations and prosecutors knowingly sending innocent people to prison and lying in court. I could go on but this is already long enough.

The system is just a construct controlled by people who are flawed Its not the systems fault whether its capitalism or socialism its the people whom let greed, power and lust warp their decisions. We can never have a fair system unless you remove the human element and even then everyone has their own interpretation of fair so ?

I recommend that Tom McDonald fans look up (not by Tom, nor necessarily representing his views, but with similar ideas to some of what I notice in much of his lyrics) "The Tiny Dot", "The Jones Plantation", "The Most Dangerous Superstition", "George Ough to Help", Voluntaryism, and The "Live and Let Live" Movement.

Ok trust me i live in Washington nobody wants to be homeless in this frigid wet state the rent in my podunk lil area is 3k to 5k a month for a meh 3 bedroom house just for a studio apartment is 1500 now if u go up north a hour to Microsoft there rent is much higher so to say Microsoft employees chose to be homeless is a bit reckless imo especially when u think ppl want first last month rent plus average 900+ on deposit and then pet deposit lets not forget 100 for each application yea finding a place here is rough

I love your reaction/review. .. lol... whatever. Yes, everything can be described as indoctrination. However, children NEED a framework for interpreting the world. The problem is what it is, not the fact. Are they taught individually responsibility and to strive to be better or "they are perfect the way they are," and "go out and change the world?" Do we teach them to base their opinions on facts or feelings? Do we let them face adversity and consequences of their actions or protect and coddle them? Probably going too far in either direction is not going to be good, but if I were to go too far, it would be in the direction of the former. But the extremes are going to be actively damaging to all but the most resilient of children. I think voting matters in local elections, but by the time you get to the federal election, your only choice is one corrupt politician or another. The way to change it is to get involved in choosing the candidates in the primaries. I think Tom is talking about the uni-party that runs the country. There are very few that don't go into politics already beholding to special interest groups and after that even fewer that aren't ground down by the "system." The "taking a job you hate for cans of food" is interesting. I think you SHOULD have to work to support yourself. The problem with jobs is not the job, it's the dehumanized corporate environment where you are a replaceable widget. The focus is solely on profit and there is little consideration of the humanity of the people. On the other hand, teachers' unions protect the teachers and care nothing about the merit/performance of the teachers (and by extension the children). Once again we have the extremes. Both are bad for society and the people within those "systems." The AI in social media that feeds your own viewpoint back to you in a feedback loop is bad, but the censorship is worse. It has the potential to be a great boon to society, but instead it has been weaponized as a tool for controlling how people think. This is truly a "system" that is designed to create division and hatred. Feminism is now a force actively damaging women, men and society. Why they would let their emotions be hijacked to support their own erasure is beyond my comprehension. Why they would believe that objectifying themselves and expressing their sexuality unfettered by emotional attachment is "empowerment" is a mystery to me. Feminism is now about actively hating men because they can't outcompete them physically and in the battle for the highest corporate positions. They have the power to shape society in much more basic ways that running a Fortune 500 corporation. As a group, they have thrown that all away because they are taught that a traditional life is "oppressive." Good luck to them as cogs in the "system." As an edit I am going to add something about fighting wars for oil... Imo, American foreign policy is soaked in blood. Not since South Korea has a war been fought over anything but political and economic self-interest. The rest of the world is starting to see America not as a protector, but as running a protection racket. "Nice country, it would be a shame if it the dissenters were funded and given weapons." The American people are fine, the country is led by war mongering and corrupt politicians. The endless wars are money laundering schemes that feed the industrial military complex "system." The US fomented and backed the color revolution that overthrew a Ukrainian government that was neutral and replaced it with an anti-Russian one. Now the US is willing to fund a corrupt Ukrainian government and fight to the last Ukrainian. Yet another proxy war. Yay for the red, white and blue. Lol... I'll stop here...
