he showed his ability as an educator of players and an innovator of concepts as he went onto to both Bayern and City. He challenged a very successful Munich team to re-imagine their approach to the game. That was an amazing achievement from a coaching stand point. He has always worked to the strengths of his players and that is so intelligent. However, for me his ability to impose his game on so many different types of teams on a consistent basis while never abandoning his principles is powerful. In his books on Pep, Martin Perarnau discusses Guardiolas love of chess and his fascination with attack, and the principle of two weakness. It might be something you may look at in a future video . Thanks again

How was he underrated. He did nothing other bayern managers hadn’t done before. He had the biggest budget in Germany the best team in Germany so its not a suprise that he won every trophy in germany. He should have won the cl at least once out of the 3 sessons with the team he had. Just goes to show he cant win the cl without messi
@thuo1000
@thuo1000 4 года назад
@@sauravsastry The loss against real madrid was not Pep's fault but the players' fault. The players overuled Pep's plan for the game and wanted to go on an attacking spree against real madrid for which they were punished. Arjen Robben confirmed this after the defeat and said it was the players' fault for not following Guardiola's plan. For the semi-final loss against Barca, Bayern were unfortunate with injuries then Messi just did what Messi does. Had all the key Bayern players been fit for that game, maybe things would have been different. But they did win the away game 3-2. Also it's not a coincidence that the Bayern Board still want Guardiola back as their coach after he left. Most people thought Carlo Ancelotti would do better than what Pep achieved but boy were they wrong. Pep left a major influence in Bayern's style of play. Robben himself also said Pep is the best manager he has ever had. Not heynckes or whoever but Pep himself.

If Pep had win the Treble with Bayern they would say that it was the best team off all time. Pep's Bayern were tactically the best and the most flexible team ever. Because of the versatile player like Lahm and Alaba he could dominate actually 95 Percent of all his opponent. But someimes you need luck as well. That is something that we won't find in any stats.

At barca, he already had most of the players he needed so Pep doesn't need to sign much. At Bayern, the available players are already good enough (bar a few exception) so Pep need to make a few signings. Meanwhile at City, only a few players can play in Pep's team. So Pep need to offload and sign a lot of players, and by this time, Pep's type of players are either highly rated in the market or are crucial for their team so they had a high pricetags (also, england's transfer is overly bloated)

Means a lot!Guardiola's tactics changed alot after Barca,crossing became the main weapon!Did you Notice the new role of Kevin De bruyne!He plays as a 8,but his responsibilities is to create crosses accross the pitch like Trent Alexander Arnold,TAA works on Wide space,while KDB works on halfspace!Lot of goals came from crossing for City in last two years,the triangle passing has depleted over the time for more counter attacks! Bayern&Barca r best examples for Pep's beautiful football!The principles have remained the same, instruments have changed ❤️

Great general overview. But of course he changed the system a lot. In the first season at Bayern Lahm played full defensive midfielder. From the second season on Bayern often played a back three. And in the third season he came up with things like a 1-2-3-4 formation. :-) I remember him playing 4 wingers at once (Robben, Ribery, Costa, Coman) absolutely steamrolling the opponents. I wonder why is it that Pep seemed to be more experimental at Bayern in the first half of each season and playing more conservative in the second half.

I've watched every player on full matches, I've play'd video-games on top level, and I've noticed that: you should always keep the formation simple and symmetric, only players can change their positions if they are clinical in their other positions, so if you want to become for example a passer from dribbler you can if you are clinical in your role!!! As for me I've play'd a: CB's tackling, passing, shooting position, and a: WF's dribbling, passing, shooting position!!!

in barca, Puyol used to stay in the center and then in front of him there was a line of 3: busquets in the middle, pique a little bit to the right and abidal a bit to the left. its not often that we saw busquets having to go back and stay between the two defenders. enless if maxuell was playing, cause he would be were Villa normally played (wide at the left wing) and then with one less player behind to build, busquets wouldnt be so high at the peach like when Abidal plays. thats why some times when Maxuell used to play Guardiola use to put Keita on the game. so that xavi wouldnt have to change his position to much (with busquets between the two defenders xavi would have to go a little bit back on the peach).

Hi! any chance you might do a match review of the revierderby that just happened today? I'd really like to know your thoughts on Dortmund's recent 3-4-3 formation. About my opinion, I think it's much more efficient than the 4-2-3-1 Favre used in most part of the previous season and this one. Using a back three and Easing Hakimi off of his defensive duty unleashed his full potential in the right flank from an attacking point of view. As they are not pressing that much higher and with Hakimi and Guerrero not being shy of dropping deep and forming a 5 men back line, they are now more defensively consolidated and preventing the opposition from creating frequent chances. As for the attacking I think the principle remains same. They are playing the same possession based buildup football but with hundred times more pace, much quicker in transition and more deadly in the counter attack. But I really want to know your detailed analysis and all. Please, make a video if possible. You guys are awesome and I learned a lot about football tactics from your videos and suddenly football has become a much different game for me; not to mention a much more exciting game to me. Keep it up! Much love and appreciation.

He always started with the 4-3-3 that barca played for decades and adjusted it to the players (and played a lot of others sytems). Kinda sad to see the bayern tactics now, because it was obious that thats not the perfact tactic for the players, Müller is not a CM and it never worked, Ribery and Alaba were perfect together on the wing, he always tried to replace mandzukic even so it worked great with him and bad without him and Thiago was never the key player like it was shown here. It was great to see the varieties of tactics in the Bundesliga, for example with Robben as a wing back, but they never had the right tactic against the big teams and it always felt like they had to overcome peps tactic to score a goal. And there was the "let's defend Messi, Suarez and Neymar 1 vs 1" tactic...

Great video, but I think you underestimate how high City's fullbacks drift up. A lot of times City does look like what you showed with the inverted fullbacks during build up, but as City push higher and higher up the pitch and the opposition is basically forced into crowding their own box, the fullbacks for City get high and even overlap the wingers.
