Montblanc Noland is one of my favourite characters in One Piece. Even though we just saw him for 5 chapters, his story left a huge impact on me. Whenever the topic of saddest backstory is brought up I hate that people tend to ignore Noland's backstory, his backstory is definitely one of the saddest and it left me a crying mess by the end of it.
@@okdre9276 If I remember correctly, Johnny and Yosaku get slapped a bit by some low-ranked bandit and then Zoro stomps the dude for the pocket money his bounty was worth lol. And which Pedro flashback? (I'm going to assume you mean the one with Roger that lasts all of a minute instead of the flashback to him in Tottoland, losing his first mate, eye and ~50 years of his life)
In the backstory, when Noland’s crew was given access to all the gold on the island, the crew found an eternal pose. Since this native culture had been shut away since at least the void century, we can safely assume that log pose technology has been around since at least before the void century at the very least.
@asian dude what does his age have to do with anything?People act like their age invalidates comments or their talking points. Being a kid means nothing if what they're saying is true and informed.
Highly possible, in Nolands tale hes described as a laughing maniac "laugh tale"? And Nolands execution is terrifying exactly the same yet the opposite as Gold Rogers, while the view on Rogers execution is always from the publics side Nolands execution is always from his own perspective, while one laughed at his execution the other one cried. One was caught and executed the other one gave himself in. Nolands story is without a doubt gonna be there at the final island. I highly suggest to read and compare both executions. Also a city of gold, what else treasure could live up to that wealth, you would except one piece to be something like that when watching the one piece from the beginning. Also sky island and Jaya being a skull island is also interested since the one piece logo has a skull as well with a X behind it.
It might have had an ancient name before laugh tale but it was forgotten/hidden by the WG That's just the name roger came up with because no one heard of this island before
I actually thought of this during the listening, maybe Noland was one in the line who inherited Joy Boys Will which later be inherited by Roger and Luffy
Monblant Norland = Gulliver his first voyage led him to Green Bit where he met the tontata during his second voyage he escaled on Elbaf on his third voyage he stoped on Jaya on the last voyage, with his king on board, he resuplies on Zoo and meet talking animals.
Tekking I thought the Tontotta only called the strawhats with the “-land” name ending because Usopp had the helmet on that looked like Nolan’s hair. So they asked him and Usopp told the lie that Noland was his ancestor. So they added the “-land” ending on the strawhats because Usopp said they were his crew.
Close but no cigar, usopp told them he was a legendary hero that is a decedent of Noland and then they said so you your name must be uso-land he just said yes j guess, and I just realized Noland must mean no-land like odd name him noland because he couldn't show the king the land so he dies because there is no land 😀
A mother goes into a bookstore to buy a copy of "Noland the Hero" for her son and the bookstore owner says, "By Nico Robin, right? I think I still have a copy or two!"
Actually "el dorado" was inspired by a ritual from the Muisca people from Colombia when the next cacique (chief) was elected he went covered in gold dust in to a lagoon in a raft and dropped some gold offers in to the lagoon.
didn't they also cover him in gold? I remember that there was a group of people who put gold stuff into a lake as well for some ritual but I don't know if it's the same people.
For what it’s worth, the words “El Dorado” are Spanish, and it just mean “The Gold”. The conquistadors used it in reference when encountering sources of gold in the Americas, like the Muisca. However the thing about it was that no matter how much gold they found, it was never enough, and thus new stories would be spun of some place out there in the New World with even more gold. Shameless plug: Overly Sarcastic Productions did a very entertaining video on the subject, and I recommend it if y’all’d like to learn more!
The Shandians would have been massacred if the WG found Jaya with all that gold and the Poneglyph. It was a good thing that half of it was blasted into the clouds.
@@alfredhinton8792 Not really. The only reason why Jaya stayed up there was because it landed on Jack (the beanstalk). Any other island would just fall back down to the Blue Sea and crash into the ocean.
you have my respect before i thought you were cringe but you are one of the only people ive seen who explains the history of noland and understands his impact and how knowing who he is can reveal usops past and for that i have nothing but respect for you and i owe you a follow
Tekking will you do a video on the plate tektonics of the One Piece World? The red line could be the result of 4 convergent plates I think and all the islands are hotspots I guess? We already know about Sabaodi, which is an Archipelago and we know how these form in our world. Maybe I'm reaching, but hey! GEOGRAPHY IS EVERYTHING!! And I'm sure you can make a 40 min video on anything lol
This was my favorite story in one piece the story of Noland the liar was not only the first part to bring a genuine emotional connection to what happened but I actually cried when Noland died but when Cricket learned the truth I could imagine Noland reuniting with his Shandori friends
I enjoy watching you more than the anime itself. You are entertaining, I love your discussions, I love your opinions, and I love your take on assumptions for upcoming manga. Keep up the good work
Nolands epithet is literally the liar there is no way that him and Usopp are not related and a side note but Usopp’s lies usually come true and he told the Tontatta’s he was Nolands descendent
it is possible that yasopp will tell him that either he or his mother are related to noland. i think in the end the truth will come to light. the world will be united and the heavenly inhabitants will have contact with the blue sea inhabitants and because of this alone the story will be cleared up that noland did not lie.
Yo one of the reasons why i love this channel is how much work mattew puts into the videos just to explain stuff and keep us entertained, the intros and the jokes are all perfect! #1 anime youtuber
Jeez, I just realized I’ve been watching tekking since 2016, and he’s kept the exact same energy. I love it. He’s gotten bigger and doesn’t change, unlike other RU-vidrs. Love your content tekking.
I never laughed so hard XD Noland: I found a city of gold! King: thats damn good explorer! What did you find? Other guy: just a city of bronze sir. Fuck your city of bronze! He found a city of gold!!!
I noticed something interesting in this flasback recently. when noland arrives at his kingdom and whants to go back to Shandora, He must ask the world goverment in order to get permission. it's kinda implicit he tells what each expedition is about. After asking permission, during the travelling, the knok up stream hapens. So... Terraformation is a big deal in a lot of end game one piece theories. and Shandora had a phonegliph. could be that the projecton into the sky was an intecional thing coming for the being, weapon or character that can do the terraformation. (my beat is imu) Another notable things is that it goes to skypea that has very much christian inspiration (god, Angels etc...) and the world goverment has been portraiet in the same way, saints, hjollyland, gods etc... not to mention skypea talked about the moon people and all the deal with space suits and tenryubitos. To end when noland is executed we can se people carring the bible, thats bizarre to beacause his island it's a random kingdom not marie joise or something and the only character to have also a bible is kuma at the moment, i gess to comunicate relation with the world goverment.
Tekking you have no idea how long I’ve waited for this video 🤧 I’ve subscribed to your channel like 3 years ago specifically because I assumed at some point this video would happen
I was honestly thinking about this yesterday and trying to remember if you made this video yet I didn’t think you did honestly super glad that you made this video good on you
Noland's Story(book) reminds me of the 1785 book "Baron Munchausen's Narrative of his Marvellous Travels and Campaigns in Russia" by German writer Rudolf Erich Raspe. The story describes Munchausen's impossible achievements, like riding a cannonball (Kizaru Style) and travelling to the moon.
Hey Matt, I was watching your one punch video from like 4 months ago...I'm gana continue watching that, and come back to this after. Just wanted to let you know. Sincerely, This Guy
400 years ago. We heard it to many times. I think somthing happened during that time important to the story. We're gonna get a flashback I hope. Great vid
One thing about Nolands story that I believe will be relevant in the future is showing the connection between spirit and sound. He could hear the bell(known as the voice of the island) meanwhile the rest of his crew didn’t. Believe this because Haki(which also has been referred to as a voice) can be interpreted as sound. And Noland was actually using observation to hear a spiritual sound. In fact I believe sound to be the essence of Conquerors haki. I have to many theories about this. Check out the vids on my channel.
I have theory that is apart of an huge video essay. I talk about the potential of all 3 haki by comparing them the the 7 chakras. The throat chakra has the element of sound. This is chakra Brook and Apoo utilizes to use conquerors haki enhanced abilities. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-31VbIRUxkC4.html
Clover King You have alot of questions. All of which would be answered in the video, I promise. Think of the sound of like a Dog whistle. Some can hear it and others can’t. It has to so with planes of existence. One physical and the other spiritual. And yes Haki has been referred to as a sound. Using observation haki has been likened to be hearing a voice. And lastly yes conquerors haki is a wave of energy or in other words a wave of vibrations. Vibrational energy is precisely what sound is.
I subbed to your channel but I am unsure about your theory. But that is okay because you have other content I would definitely watch. But giving you the benefit of the doubt, there is other circumstantial evidence I can cite such as with Sanji ‘hearing’ the voice of a crying woman from a large distance away with his Haki or with Aisa and coby awakening her Haki by hearing the sounds of the dying. Haki is connected to spirit for sure, and it is probably closest to Sound and Sight of the senses. There is much more to it if we take into account the Aura of Conquerors but I wanna wait till Oda gives me his answer. As a fellow writer, I have rarely if ever been disappointed by One Piece. I will be happy with any theory or answer I get in all honesty! I hope you make more KH and FF Content! We need more of that in the world.
@@twenty-fifth420 Thank you so much for giving my channel a chance. I believe you'll find my chakra theory entertaining and informative. The part about sound relating to spirit is jam packed with information and that is only 10% of the theory. I got in topics such as Why rokushiki is Haki : Root Chakra Why the aura of armament haki hurts logias: Sacral Chakra. Why characters like Sanji and King can manifest fire: Solar Chakra Why emotions and the breath of all things is linked to observation haki: Heart Chakra Why Conqueror's is Haki in it's rawest form, and why it causes lightning: Throat chakra Why Observation haki can be used to see things ranging from spirits, emotions, the future, and even the voice of all things: Third Eye chakra Why Big Mom and Brook's DF are clear representative of what Advanced Conquerors haki looks like: Crown Chakra. Lastly the video I currently have in the works is showing how through be able to resonate with all 7 chakras one can create a special personal power for themselves. One that could say resembles a Devil Fruit. That is because I theorize that is how devil fruits are made in the first place. The reincarnated souls of enlightened people that lived in the void century. The secret advanced society known no as the ancient kingdom. That video is coming along great. Thank you for encouraging me to make more KH videos. I sure will be starting that once again. My goal is to start those videos before the year ends.
OH MY GOSH!!!!! My school did a play based around Louis deRougemont!!!! It's called Shipwrecked and it takes the stuff from the story and further fictionalizes it by making Louis deRougemont the character into a person and like! It was really neat, and when I heard you say the name I realized about 45 seconds in 'THAT'S where I heard it!!!'
I'd imagine Noland and Kalgara are actually Ardmiral level or close to it. Plus it'd be really cool if Noland or the Montblanc family is mentioned in the One Piece.
one piece would definately benifit from more standalone arcs like skypia and it would be cool if we met some new world pirates like don chinjao that are just a strong pirate of the newworld fells like after the timeskip we have been focused only on yonko and warlords they never even spot or bump into a random pirate ship in the great pirate era
I really like the last part where Tekking goes off on a tangent about some random guy in history. It is really fun to just listen to him explain these random stories.
If Noland and Ryuuma existed in the same timeline. When Noland made it to Wano by accident, kinda like how WB did. When they both first met each other, Ryuuma probably think to himself. Oh, so in his homeland they have topknot too. Noland chestnut hair does kinda resemble a topknot.
Tekking should do a video linking Laputa Castle in the Sky and One Piece, because when you look into it there are a lot of similarities and inspirations drawn from the Studio Ghibli movie.
You know that knock up stream saved Noland and Calgara's friendship when you think about it. If the King saw the city of Gold, he would have definitely tried taking it by force with no regard to the Shandorians. Pretty soon, the entire kingdom would have invaded the island and battle over the gold and could have resulted in a bloodbath of deaths. Bringing the King alone could have heavily tarnished their friendship there.
27:11 - Don't forget Bellamy - he also went up to Skypiea, found the City of Gold, and brought back a giant gold pillar as a gift (?) for the Donquixote Pirates, meaning that his adventures are already know, for example, on Dressrosa.
Ive been watching your videos for like a year and when i saw this i was like "'No way, he hasn't talked about Noland!". I had feared the video had "trekking Tumbled" into oblivion!
Francisco de la orellana And actually recent discoveries seem to suggest that there was indeed a great civilization and empire in south America So he like Noland They both didn't lie about their discoveries But in Noland case his discovery blasted off to the sky And Francisco discovery was quickly devastated by a disease the European brought upon that civilization and the natives didn't have the immunity system to survive it and adapt to it And the Amazon forest being the Amazon forest quickly grew all over the empire and the Amazonian civilization ruins So when the others Spanish men came they just found a bunch of tree where villages were supposed to be And Francisco like Noland died and h He is remembered by history as a professional bullishiter But again recently discoveries seem to explain that he didn't lie there was a great civilization and agriculture and good economy and prosperity inside the Amazon forest Francisco died trying to explore the Amazon forest to prove his credibility Some of the surviving native, remembering the tragedy this dude brought to their now fallen empire, killed him before he could have even actually entered deep into the forest I think BBC did a documentary about this in 2016 Disclaimer I know nothing of this more than heard others explaining this and reading Wiki and I'm not a historian professor
The time has finally come. His story has been told, so I can now rest in peace. P.S. Thank You Tekking. You've done us all a great favor. Even if took 2 years.
I remember being like super into the Noland earthquake feat. So I ran the numbers in getting crushed by two tectonic plates and shaking them as he did when he tried to escape. He technically has the greatest physical defense feat in pre timeskip.
I could think of one flashback that was not filled with death and despair. There was this scene where Aarlong pointed his finger at Nami's mom. I mean, it was pretty menacing but as far as I can remember there was no death, only jail..
