CORRECTION: The rear suspension of the Tank 400 is live axle with coil springs NOT leaf springs as stated in the video. I was told by representatives from Tank at the event that it had "the same style of rear suspension as a Ford F-150." I feel silly for taking their word and not checking myself, but these events are basically a run-and-gun operation where you have very little time to do anything but film and write the script on the fly. We strongly regret the error and will do our best to make sure it doesn't happen again! Are you interested in purchasing a Chinese vehicle and exporting it to your country*? Typical of Western reviewers, they practically will search all over the internet for the slightest hints of similarities with other cars for every new Chinese cars. How they have become so insecure about Chinese made products is embarrassing.
First of all, I don't say that about every car I review. Second, you have to recognize that I'm in a tough position here. If I don't acknowledge when a Chinese model seems to be aping another brand, I'm accused of being a shill. If I do acknowledge this fact, then people like you will accuse me saying ever Chinese car is a copy of foreign brand. My solution? I give my honest opinion! When a car looks like another car in a way that feels intentional, I point it out. When it doesn't, I say nothing. In this case, the Tank 400 looks a heck of a lot like a 4Runner, end of story.
The Toyota Forerunner is an Eastern SUV. Made in Japan originally. Yes it does look similar to the Forerunner. I think Tank did a great job with this SUV.
Western white supremacist delusion. Also: with our Slavic Communist Nikola Tesla the West would have shit now. Technologically and culturally the West is extremely inferior...and would have nothing without African, Asian, South and Central American as well as Slavic people. The West can only point to its terrorist crusades, terrorist colonialism, the Holocaust, slavery, Hiroshima, Nagasaki, attacking the Iraq and murdering over 1 million innocent civilians and many many more crimes as its "achievements".
Seems comparable to our Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 4xe! Better in some ways such as the high-power AC power outlets (what max power?) and 37 kWh capacity, nice.
should make it a series phev, with two electric motors, an engine working only as generator. Also because, as it is, you can't drive 4wd only in electric. BTW, 100km from a 37kWh battery is hummer ev "efficiency"!
Great review as always. Interested in the car but lot me at the lag. Seems to be common with GWM vehicles, not fun when you need that quick get up and go, that pause makes me wonder if I'm going anywhere, feels like forever in that moment.
If this was called the Toyota TANK and available in the US it would sell out instantly. It has all the silly “tough” styling features and pseudo-off-road ability that 4Runner and Wrangler fans love. People who buy those don’t care how badly they drive or how impractical they are, they only care about being perceived as “tough” and “rugged” because they drive vehicles with prehistoric suspension and “tough” looking plastic cladding. This vehicle has plenty of that.
In my humble opinion (& taste) the "bolted" fender pieces should be black ( or another color) to break up the immens monochrome block on wheels. The deep cutting shoulder line almost begs the car to be 2-tone. Where's the 500's three Litre Turbo V6 ? I love that Tank did not go overboard on the interior & that body looks muscular & not too much like anything else, as we're seeing an upflare of days past copying w/ Foton (Mars Line-up) acting likethey are the new Zotye ...
Look to the most recent Toyota EVs (and Toyota Crown) to see why I don't think that's a good idea. I think they're leaving the 3.0L to the Tank 500, because it's their current halo model and it needs something to set it apart from the 400. Agree on the interior, it is probably my favorite part of the car.
@@Wheelsboy Oh Ethan , i never thought you would be so cruel ... coming up with an example that's is so "out there" & not even with the mass of an SUV. I have read the two-tone Crown will be named SportCross in China (thus a Crossover) that is a sedan in the US ? How creative ... Thanx for making me laugh!!
The Big Dog and Cool Dog are Haval models that are different sizes and prices from each other. They are also cheaper than the Tank models, are built off different platforms, and are marketed to different audiences. I honestly don't think they are cannibalizing their own sales.
The bigger problem (in the long run) with having an electric car go under water, especially a river is the sediments in the water wearing the electrical wires/cabling.
@@j.c.4192 They definitely do, apologies if I made it seem like they don't. I believe the comment was more on the ability to drive submerged. This is something that is 'easier' with an electric vehicle.
You might just be a bit confused as that is a very weird and ridiculous frame of mind for someone out of their free will choosing to watch videos from this channel. Do you go to sports centre channel and complain about them broadcasting sport, do you go to the news channel and complain about them broadcasting news instead of teletubbies or what ever you are after?
only 2k lbs towing. . . .? heck my 2.3 litre Ranger can tow nearly 4k lbs. . . frustrating how hybrid power trains fall short on towing real loads. . .
@@morganangel340, nice try, I miss heard him. I'll correct myself and acknowledge listening again, he did indeed say 2.5 tons, ie 2,500 kg. . .and my non-hybrid Ranger (Thai truck w/ the 2.3 litre turbo from the Focus ST) still tows 3,500kg.
I was told by Tank at the event that it had "the same style of rear suspension as a Ford F-150," which would mean leaf springs. Well, it seems they don't know what the rear suspension of an F-150 is, because it turns out that it was actually a live axle with coil springs, just as you said. I've pinned a comment to correct the error. Before you ask, I didn't have time to get down and look at the suspension at the time, these events are basically a run-and-gun operation where you have very little time to film. But I strongly regret the error, and I appreciate you pointing it out!
In the global auto industry, only Chinese brands can bring some unexpected surprises. I hope that Chinese cars can come to the United States. Although it is not easy, I hope that someone can promote this matter.💯
So, the 3.3 kW output is not available while vehicle is in motion, is that right? Too bad if so. Other systems like Ford Pro Power Onboard and AC outlets in Kia EVs and in the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV are available while in motion, at least. Nice trend.
I have no idea if it's available while the vehicle is in motion, but are you suggesting that people are plugging things into their charging outlets and power them while in motion? That sounds highly ill-advised.
@@Wheelsboy No, those examples I gave such as Pro Power Onboard have high-power 120V and 240V outlets inside the vehicle (as in Outlander and EV6/EV9) or in truck beds or front trunks (as in the F-150 and RAM and Silverado).
@@caoYB Thank You, at least 400W is more than the 150W limit that is so common. 1500W or more would be even better, like in some great EVs these days including Ford Pro Power Onboard which can output 9600W from the battery in the F-150 Lightning, that is incredibly good.
@@morganangel340 Well that was what I was getting at the USA will say the car spies on you and tells all your secrets to Xi just like they did with the Chinese phones .. Americans need not worry about a country they will never go to spying on them they should worry about their own government spying on them .
I just down understand why most Chinese vehicles use the the same 2.0 turbocharged engine when they could upgrade using a powerful 3.0 turbocharged diesel instead... Interior great ✅ Exterior design, awesome ✅ Performance 50/50 👍🏻 I rate it 7 out of 10! If they upgrade the engine with a powerful diesel, it will be full 10 ☺️👌🏻
The sale of diesel passenger vehicles is discouraged in China for various reasons. A Chinese automaker is unlikely to invest in developing a diesel engine when they can't sell it domestically, where most of them make a vast majority of their sales.
